Just purchased this coffee maker to replace an older Braun model...this one is quite good..solid feel and with the built in filter, the coffee tastes much better...a good buy

I bought this because I liked the idea of having the water filter inside. You can't find replacement filters. You can't measure the water correctly. I tried just pouring water in from a cup. That didn't work because it goes right into the water filter so it looks like it is at level 3 when it is more.
The last straw was the other day as the water started to brew through the basket, the basket sprang open. I had water everywhere. It also seems to take a while to brew a small pot of coffee. I usually made a 3 or 4 cup pot and it took 8 minutes. I will never buy a coffee pot from this company again.

I've owned many coffee makers like this one, but this is the best by far, and the longest-lasting. Quality materials and design, it's the easiest to clean and fill when I'm half awake. The filter basket opens easily, the water fill is reasonable spill-proof. The carafe is nicely designed, with a lip that doesn't drip, and a handle with some substance.

It's just a basic coffee maker, but it's vastly superior to the budget brands you find everywhere else, and reasonably priced, too.

Unfortunately, Braun appliances are vanishing from the US, so get it while you can. I intend to pick up a spare. I like it that much.

I'm shocked at the reviews! I've had this coffee maker for 4 years and I love it! The filter basket has this great hinge on it and it completely removes from the rest of the coffee maker.

This coffeemaker makes the WORST coffee of any I have owned in 26 years. It "brews" very quickly, losing a "cup" or more of the water added in steam that just pours out of the top. The coffee is weak and bitter (no matter what brand we have tried). About the 4th time we used the pot it overflowed, creating a mess of grounds and coffee all over the countertop. We thought maybe we had put the carafe on the base incorrectly, and were careful to always be sure it was pushed in completely from then on. The same thing has happened twice more. This coffeemaker is a piece of junk.

I have this in black. Not to plug Costco, but I got it there for $20 at the time. For 20-30 it's really a simple and straight forward machine. It takes #4 filters (pretty much the home-style European size/standard). Not sure why a former reviewer stated they're hard to find. The filters are cone shaped which you can get in your ordinary grocery store coffee isle. It also comes with a replaceable Brita filter to make the water taste better, and with it's very own mesh filter so you don't have to use the paper ones,(I personally haven't tried the wire mesh cone filter yet).
The only time I ever had issue with water leaking was when I tried to do a make shift tea pot. Without the filter the water seems to not know where to go. Call it "user error" if you will.

In conclusion, quality of coffee really makes a difference in how great your brewed cup will be. Sometimes simple and to the point are the best products.
