5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great kitchen helper
Honest to goodness, this is the best $20 you'll ever spend if you like to cook. No kidding. So much easier than a blender since you don't have a blender to clean -- the blade end twists off and you can put it in the top rack of your dishwasher. I
have had mine for years and it is going strong. Great for pureed soups and dips and dressings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but nothing special
Blender was okay, as noted above, but it was not as good as an earlier one that we bought. This one seemed to cavitate more frequently and cause splahes of hot soup to erupt. Soup smarted, it did.

You need to become facile with positioning so you don't wind up with hot splattering liquid, so be sure you are careful until you get the hang of it. Try to pool liquid/soup so it covers the blades, for example. Don't try to do a very small amount of something that is liquid else you might be burned and/or make a mess. This used to come with a kind of tall plastic cup that made the most out of small amounts and gave you some protection from making a mess. If it no longer does, I would get something like this. Then you can also store it in this cup -- standing on your counter.

I really like this hand blender. Its so handy (haha) - I was actually amazed at how fast I was able to mash potatoes. I also got one that came with a wisk, a measuring cup, and an onion chopper. Making milkshakes in the measuring cup is so great - such an easy clean up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and effective, January 30, 2007

I've had this model or something similar for about the past 8 years, and love it. I inadvertently burnt out the motor on the first one by trying to chop some cheese using the food processor attachment. Don't keep the motor going if the blade stops spinning because the food is too tough! Shake it up or do less food at a time and try again.

This is the only blender I have (I mostly use it for smoothies) and love having something small and efficient that gets the job done. No big hunk of blender sitting around, and fewer materials needed to make and ship it. Mixes stuff right in the container you want it in, avoiding more mess and cleanup, and when you're done, the mixing end twists off for easy washing. Nice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Braun MR400, November 4, 2006
The Braun immersion blender is great for quick stove side blending jobs. While it is not strong enough to pulverize leeks for potato leek soup it does a great job on softer less stringy foods.

I've had this for about 8 months and have had no problems. It easily dominates anything I throw at it when making protein shakes, though I guess most of the stuff is soft (fruit, peanut butter, protein mix, etc). I'd recommend it to anyone for that purpose at least.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!, July 17, 2007

This was given to me for Christmas of 2006, and I absolutely love this appliance. It has excelled at every kitchen task I have put it through, from purees to whipped cream to salsa to aioli to soups to guac to graham cracker crusts...it is awesome. The whisk attachment feels a bit flimsy, but it is up to the job, trust me. A great addition to every kitchen , especially if you live in an apartment or don't have much room for a larger standing mixer or hand mixer.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Old Kitchen Standby, February 15, 2007

Everyone is making these blenders now... I think that Braun did invent the device - but not absolutely sure. Mine is 10+ yrs old and looks just like the new ones. I use it nearly every day. Very powerful, ergomonic, switch location is great. Would probably mix a gallon of latex paint in an emergency but I'd never do that... It'll prob outlive me...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the hand blender, November 5, 2006
This review is from: BRAUN MR400 White Multiquick Professional Hand Blender
I love this blender for smoothies, pureed dips, soups. It's powerful and quick and so easy to clean. Just do NOT use it to chop ice. You will burn out the motor.

I bought this as a gift for my brother and he totally loves it! He said that it's very powerful and even crunchs up ice. I used it while at his house and also really liked it. :-)
