"Flawless performances" --The New York Times
"The best series ever" --The Washington Post
"One of the most remarkable adaptations from literature ever produced for television" --The Associated Press
"Lavish and beautiful" --Time
Based on the acclaimed novel by Evelyn Waugh, this epic drama tells of love and loss amid the fading glory of the British aristocracy in the interwar period. The visually ravishing production won 17 international awards and launched the careers of stars Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews, who appear alongside Oscar® winner Sir John Gielgud, Diana Quick, Claire Bloom, and Sir Laurence Olivier in an Emmy®-winning role.
The sound is clear and the picture quality is excellent.
Waugh's own religious beliefs are rooted in that odd English Roman Catholicism that seems to delight in being intellectually counterintuitive and self-mortifying.
Absolutely beautifully done: brilliant cast, writing, direction, photography, locations, sets, costumes, haunting music, everything.
Much better (no, much much better) than the later movie. It is as good a movie to watch and the book is to read.Published 16 days ago by Stephen C. Curry

Brideshead is great but the DVD has some flaws. It kept stopping halfway through the first DVD and then the second DVD plays about 10 minutes that were at the end of the first DVD.Published 2 months ago by Spulfer
