5.0 out of 5 stars found my new protein powder
I've been making my own protein shakes since high school (long time ago) and I never tried this brand although I had always heard good things about it. Okay trying this after using ON WHEY for a while...

Just wanna comment on a few things.

Calories is 200 per serving and there are 22g of protein per scoop.

When you mix this stuff with milk you are going to probably seriously need 2 cups of milk or water to chug it. Its VERYYY thick in comparison to ON Whey.
Drinking it with 2 cups of...

5.0 out of 5 stars found my new protein powder, March 17, 2012
This review is from: BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Chocolate Milkshake, 2.91 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I've been making my own protein shakes since high school (long time ago) and I never tried this brand although I had always heard good things about it. I finally got me a bottle the other day and must say the taste rivals that of muscle milk (for those who have tried muscle milk you know what I'm talking about when I say it tastes like a chocolate milk shake). The reason I rate this protein higher than muscle milk is because the protein to carb and fat ration put muscle milk to shame, and still tastes like excellent which, to me, is pretty impressive.

I drink one shake a day post-workout, add in some trib and DAA, Tribulus Terrestris 90% Bulk Powder 25 Grams + FREE Primaforce D-Aspartic Acid 100 Grams which btw if you're over twenty and lifting heavy, DAA and trib pack on muscle like few other test boosters I've tried. One tip I'll add here, not that it needs it but try adding a drop of vanilla extract (and only a drop) and some ice cubes into the blender and tell me if that isn't the best shake you've ever had after a hard workout.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first protein powder I've ever finished!, January 12, 2012

This review is from: BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Chocolate Milkshake, 2.91 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I've tried several different protein powders over the years, but I've never been able to stomach the taste of any of them with water alone, and only barely with milk. My favorite for a long time was the GNC chocolate whey protein. Folks, everything else is pure gruel compared to Syntha-6.

I purchased a 2.91 pound jug of "Chocolate Milkshake." I tried it with milk and it was good but really creamy. With trepidation, I tried it with nothing but water... and found that it was DELICIOUS, especially if you add a few ice cubes. Not only is it delicious, it also keeps me full for hours! This stuff is so good, it's the first jug of protein powder I've ever actually FINISHED!

I just ordered two more jugs: chocolate, and "Vanilla Ice Cream." A few minutes ago I took a scoop of the vanilla in 5 ounces of water... and it tastes exactly like melty vanilla ice cream. It is sooo delicious, perhaps even moreso than the chocolate! It definitely has a sweeter taste -- it was so sweet that I had to check the label to confirm that, yep, it still has only 2 grams of sugar. SO good.

I drink this stuff every day. I usually shake up a couple scoops with 10 ounces of water before I leave the house (note: a good shaker bottle is a necessity), and have it along with a piece of fruit for carbs. It keeps me full to the point that I have to remind myself when it's time for lunch! I generally drink more on weight-lifting days, and if it's near bedtime and I realize my protein intake was low for the day, I'll make a quick shake with one scoop.

My muscles have definitely felt fuller since I've started drinking this regularly, and my strength has gone up, and my body weight has gone down.

100% RECOMMENDED!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great eplacement for cold cereal (and a cool container.), May 6, 2009

This review is from: BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Chocolate Milkshake, 2.91 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I started trying to reel in my hypoglycemia and was looking for something to replace my habitual cold cereal breakfast. After trying 3 or 4 protein powders from the supermarket and health food store, I used an online nutritional screener to zero in on exactly what I was looking for and wound up with this. It tastes better than anything else I tried. I almost always make it in the blender with skim milk + 7 ice cubes + a banana or peanut butter. Sometimes I switch it up and eat an egg/toast for breakfast and on those days, I take a shake to work for lunch. Amazon is cheaper, more convenient, and less hassle for me than the local dealer (GNC) so I buy it here.

When I'm done with a container, I use it in the garage for storage. I use a black magic marker to write on the top what's inside. I've got a place where they stack like cordwood. The container is large enough to hold quite a bit of stuff and I've got one each for nut's & bolts, ac/dc adaptors, plant fertilizer, etc. etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delicious Protein powder!, August 9, 2008

This review is from: BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Chocolate Milkshake, 2.91 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I started P90X a few weeks ago and part of the program is a stringent diet. I started replacing my cereal and Instant breakfast every morning with a protein shake, and after reading all the online reviews, this one seemed to be the best. Well, the reviews didn't lie! This powder tastes delicious, and although I question some of the other content in it (carbs/sugars), it keeps me full for longer than I expected. And did I mention that it tastes great?

5.0 out of 5 stars My new mandatory supplement, October 10, 2007

Performance: This product, in any flavor, has given me the best results out of any Protein Supplement I have ever purchased. I have two brothers who use this product, both into heavy weight training, and they completely agree. With casual training, I saw a difference in my muscle mass in just a few weeks!

Taste: Best tasting protein mix ever! (any flavor). I look forward to having it every time. Mixes quickly and easily in water or milk and tastes great in both!

Note: The Nutrition Label for Vanilla was slightly different than the Chocolate flavor. The Chocolate Flavor is better, but only slightly. I rotate through all flavors.

Amazon has the best deal on this product that I can find, in store or on-line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Tasting Protein Shake Yet, July 25, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Chocolate Milkshake, 2.91 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I have desperately been searching for a protein shake that I could mix with water and that would still taste great. Well I have found it. BSN's shake is the best tasting water mixed protein shake I've ever tasted. It tastes just like chocolate milk. For the first time ever I actually have to force myself to not drink too many of these shakes. It does have 200 calories so I limit myself to 3 in a given day max but that is still 66 grams of high quality slow release protein. The shakes consist of a blend of 6 different types of protein including Ultrafiltered whey protein, Microfiltered whey protein, calcium caseinate, micellar alpha and beta caseins, milk protein isolate, and egg albumen. The faster absorbing whey and the other slower absorbing proteins ensure the shakes can be used either post workout or throughout the day for maximum benefit. This is a great product and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, June 19, 2007
I've tried just about every protein powder/supplement over the last several years and this one is clearly the best tasting. Strawberry is my favorite, but vanilla and chocolate are just as satisfying. Not only does the product taste great, it's high quality protein and perfect for a post-workout shake. I recommend using a 50/50 skim milk to water ratio if not all skim milk to mix. Be sure whatever you mix it with its COLD. While water tastes just fine with this protein, skim milk gives it that great milkshake taste. Try it, you'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Syntha-6: Better Bring a Blender, October 8, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought two containers of Syntha-6 (Mochaccino and Chocolate) on the advice of a gym friend. (Previously, I had been using Optimum Nutrition's Whey Protein for years.) Some comparisons:
- Price: More expensive than ON's Whey, but better quality, to be honest.
- Taste: Both the Mochaccino and Chocolate are good, especially if mixed with milk. (Mixed with water, they both taste a little like YooHoo. But only a little.)
- Mixability: This is the only category where Syntha-6 suffers in comparison to ON's protein. I could mix the ON protein with water or milk in a glass with a spoon. Do that with Syntha-6 and you get clumps of protein and you end up chewing your drink. However, put it in a shaker bottle and shake the crap out of it for 30 seconds and you're fine.
- Overall: If you want a cheap protein, go elsewhere (like with the aforementioned ON), but Syntha-6 is a solid, high quality protein. (Personally, I recommend using both ON and Syntha-6. I drink a few ON shakes during the day and then the Syntha-6 after I work out at night.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, August 19, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ive used this product for 3 weeks and ive noticed an increase in lean muscle mass significantly while the low carbs help me rid of my belly fat. Friends have notice the change and i can attribute this to syntha-6 as it is the only supplement i take, other than an ordinary multivitamin. It tastes great too. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good nighttime protein, March 9, 2010
I've been using syntha 6 as a pre-bedtime shake for the last 3 years. I've tried other similar products, such as Muscle Milk, but most of these products are high in sugars, saturated fat, and maltodextrins (maltodextrins are extemely bad for the physique as they cause a dramatic insulin spike and as a result, rapid fat storage) not to mention many other products use a blend of very cheap proteins that don't absorb well in the body. Syntha 6 contains a blend of 6 high quality proteins (hence the name), including egg protein and whey protein isolate, which have the highest bio-availability among all other sources. It also contains glutamine peptides, or glutamine precursors, although it is unclear as to the quantity. Finally, provides a healthy source of fat, in the form of sunflower oil. One serving provides 22 grams of protein, 6 grams of fat, and only 15 grams of carbohydrates - of which 5 grams are fiber. It is therefore the perfect protein source for help muscles recover overnight. The 6 protein blend is beneficial because it allows for a varied rate of digestion; the whey, for example, will digest and be absorbed in around 2 hours, while the casein will take up to 8 hours to do so, providing a steady protein source throughout the night. Fats are no problem before bed as they digest slowly, and so will not be stored in adipose tissue as carbohydrates would. Taste is good in either chocolate, strawberry, or chocolate peanutbutter. Overall, Syntha 6 is the most convenient pre-bedtime shake available at a reasonable price, and is a must-have for any serious athlete or bodybuilder. I recommend taking 1-2 servings about an hour before bed (so as not to prevent the release of HGH while sleeping) with milk.
