Do yourself a favor and read the nutrition facts and ingredients before you purchase. Bought this because it was $8 cheaper than my usual 5 lb bucket, but didn't realize what I was actually paying for.
With only 44% of the calories actually coming from protein, marketing this product as a "protein" powder seems disingenuous - it would be more suited as meal replacement than protein supplementation. It also contains a lot of fillers, including *corn syrup solids*. A deeper look reveals this product for what it is - a fluffed up, misleadingly marketed container for stretching expensive proteins with cheap fillers.
Let's look at the stats, comparing value as of 3/22/2014:
Syntha-6: 48 servings of 22g protein (currently $50) = ***21.3 g / dollar***
Optimum: 74 servings of 24g protein (currently $58) = ***30.6 g / dollar***
Now what looks like a better deal? Especially considering all the other gunk you have to consume to get those protein calories with Syntha-6. Don't make my mistake if you are looking for a good extra source of protein!
Here are the nutrition facts:

I started trying to reel in my hypoglycemia and was looking for something to replace my habitual cold cereal breakfast. After trying 3 or 4 protein powders from the supermarket and health food store, I used an online nutritional screener to zero in on exactly what I was looking for and wound up with this. It tastes better than anything else I tried. I almost always make it in the blender with skim milk + 7 ice cubes + a banana or peanut butter. Sometimes I switch it up and eat an egg/toast for breakfast and on those days, I take a shake to work for lunch. Amazon is cheaper, more convenient, and less hassle for me than the local dealer (GNC) so I buy it here.
When I'm done with a container, I use it in the garage for storage. I use a black magic marker to write on the top what's inside. I've got a place where they stack like cordwood. The container is large enough to hold quite a bit of stuff and I've got one each for nut's & bolts, ac/dc adaptors, plant fertilizer, etc. etc.

I just bought this from Amazon in Strawberry Flavor, I have to say this tastes amazing. Seriously it is like drinking strawberry milk, it's that good. I'm sure kids would drink it too if you let them (probably shouldn't). I bought this protein since BSN has a good brand perception, and this was advertised as a "lean protein".
Well, I should have done more comparison shopping and looked up the nutrition facts.
One Scoop has:
6 grams fat
13 grams of carbs
22 grams of protein
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey (one scoop)
2 grams of fat
4 grams of carbs
24 grams of protein
So with Syntha-6 you have a protein that has 60 more calories, 4 more grams of fat, 9 grams more of carbs, and 2 LESS grams of protein than a similar/cheaper ON product.
Now of course, the taste is incomparable. I've tried ON's whey and syntha 6 wins the taste competition hands down no questions asked. And I'm sure the 6 protein blend is great (mixture of whey, casein, egg proteins). But you can't really call this a "lean" protein powder when it is clearly on the high end of the calorie count.
I still like this product, but I think it's more suited to those wanting to bulk/gain mass. If you want to cut down, you might want to look somewhere else.

This review is for the chocolate milkshake flavor.
I've been trying a lot of different protein powders lately. I haven't been discriminating regarding the protein source (as long as it's vegetarian), although I have to admit that dairy-based supplements have been my favorites. It's thus no surprise that I liked this one a lot, since it's based on whey and casein.
Prepared as directed, this is pretty thick. I used 6 ounces of vanilla almond milk (had an open container I needed to use up, so why not?). If you wanted something a little thinner, you could just add more liquid. Despite the fact that this was thick, it was not chalky. I used an immersion blender to mix it, though, and I think you'd have the best luck that way (no clumps).
I love that it has 25 grams of protein. I'm pleased that it has some fiber, although I've tried other similar products with more fiber. (This is in the middle of the pack when it comes to fiber.) Because this is dairy-based, it has a fair amount of calcium, as well. I think I prefer the simple formulation here to some of the products I've tried lately that try to incorporate too many things (i.e., the ones with vitamins and greens and probiotics, etc., don't taste quite as good and aren't as smooth in texture). It's also low in sodium, which is great.
This may not be the best product for people with allergies (contains milk and soy and is manufactured on equipment that processes a number of other allergens), but that's not an issue for me. It's vegetarian but not vegan.
And finally, the taste. I could definitely taste the chocolate and it was really good. There was just a hint of an artificial sweetener aftertaste (this has both sucralose and acesulfame potassium). Since I drink a lot of diet soda, this is not such a big deal for me, but it may be for some people, which is why I mention it. This is probably one of the top 2 or 3 protein powders I've tried in the past few months and I would definitely consider buying a full-sized container.

I've tried several different protein powders over the years, but I've never been able to stomach the taste of any of them with water alone, and only barely with milk. My favorite for a long time was the GNC chocolate whey protein. Folks, everything else is pure gruel compared to Syntha-6.
I purchased a 2.91 pound jug of "Chocolate Milkshake." I tried it with milk and it was good but really creamy. With trepidation, I tried it with nothing but water... and found that it was DELICIOUS, especially if you add a few ice cubes. Not only is it delicious, it also keeps me full for hours! This stuff is so good, it's the first jug of protein powder I've ever actually FINISHED!
I just ordered two more jugs: chocolate, and "Vanilla Ice Cream." A few minutes ago I took a scoop of the vanilla in 5 ounces of water... and it tastes exactly like melty vanilla ice cream. It is sooo delicious, perhaps even moreso than the chocolate! It definitely has a sweeter taste -- it was so sweet that I had to check the label to confirm that, yep, it still has only 2 grams of sugar. SO good.
I drink this stuff every day. I usually shake up a couple scoops with 10 ounces of water before I leave the house (note: a good shaker bottle is a necessity), and have it along with a piece of fruit for carbs. It keeps me full to the point that I have to remind myself when it's time for lunch! I generally drink more on weight-lifting days, and if it's near bedtime and I realize my protein intake was low for the day, I'll make a quick shake with one scoop.
My muscles have definitely felt fuller since I've started drinking this regularly, and my strength has gone up, and my body weight has gone down.
Update, September 2012: I continue to adore this protein powder. My current method of making the drink is mixing two rounded scoops with 10 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, adding a few drops of peppermint extract, a few ice cubes, and shaking it all up in my Blender Bottle (the one with the metal ball that eliminates clumps). It tastes DIVINE, it and at 450 calories it fills me up for hours. At night I'll drink it alone for some protein before I go to bed, and in the morning I'll have it with a piece of fruit. So tasty! Wow!

My wife an I are doing this shake mix for breakfast each day.The protein in this mix last us all morning. We have not tried any other flavor than the chocolate milkshake. That flavor is wonderful. So far it has helped us lose 40 pounds between us, along with eating more healthy.

BSN's syntha 6 protein mix (chocolate flavor) is the best tasting protein shake I've had. I've tried muscle milk, EAS, Optimum Nutrition, Six Star Muscle etc. all pale in comparison to Syntha 6 in one important aspect: This tastes "good" with water. By good I mean better than a completely neutral taste. I do indeed look forward to them, but they don't elicit the same reaction as a fresh pizza say. In the world of protein however, this is a monumental leap forward. Everything else is fairly self-explanatory. This is a mix of proteins and contains casein. This means that it's good for controlling appetite and releasing protein slowly throughout the day. I'd recommend a whey protein bar to have after you workout at the gym, but you probably could do without. Just make sure you're getting at least .6x your weight in pounds in protein grams, preferably .8x.
While many people trying to build up don't care about having to add milk, those of us trying to cut weight will find this to be a godsend. 1.5 scoops is 300 calories and will fill you up in the morning. If you factor in the thermic effect of food this product really only contains 160 calories per scoop (10% less calories for most food, but calories due to protein require 30% of the energy they provide to be expended in breaking them down. Thus 22grams x 4 = 88 calories from protein. 88 x.7 = 61.6 + 112(.9x) = 61.6 + 100.8 = ~160. ) I find 6 small meals of protein rich food allows me to be just barely hungry and have around 1400 normal, 1100 absorbed calories. I'm losing fat like crazy and keeping(and gaining a bit) of lean muscle mass.

Very high quality protein that tastes great! This bag is large and resealable. Check my photo to see a comparison to the 5-lb bucket and a 2-liter bottle. I buy the bags for the bulk pricing and use them to fill up smaller containers that I keep in my gym bag and locker at work. I've been using this protein powder for years, and I won't be switching anytime soon, if ever. I love the taste of the chocolate milkshake flavor. Highly recommended!

I am not a big protein powder connoisseur, a massive weight lifter or a bodybuilder. I have tried various powders over the past year or two since I got serious about losing weight and getting fit. I've tried the stuff you can get at Wal-Mart and GNC as well as few from here on Amazon like Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate, 5 Pound . As a dedicated amateur just trying to get fit on his own, I can't really say that the protein part does magic or is any better than any of the other powders. One thing I can say, though, is that this stuff is the best-tasting powder I have ever tried. I could drink these shakes all day and if they were actual meal replacement shakes and not protein shakes I probably would drink them all day. I prefer using milk but even using water Syntha-6 tastes the best IMHO. Not only does it taste the best, I don't get a nasty case of the burps afterwards like I have with other powders. I wish I had tried Syntha-6 first, I would never have tried any other. I like it so much I am probably going to set up an auto-ship so I don't run out.

I have been bodybuilding since 1997. I have tried every protein on the market. Theirs very few high quality proteins on market. With that said syntha6 is one of 3 high quality protein I have come across.
It's an everyday protein. Taste is clean and mixs well. Quality is consistent and proteins are perfectly blended. My maintenance protein is syntha6, my cutting protein is dymetazine izo and my bulking is on casein mixed with syntha6. My passion for years is bodybuilding and research on supplements. I know what's hype and garbage because I have used every supplement out their. Syntha 6 is worth every penny and for the blend your getting your body will stay in a steady BCAA release level. Helping your body stay anabolic the whole day and maintaining your muscle and make it easier to pack on muscle. It also stops binge eatting and snacking. Never hungry.
This is not just an adult protein I give it to my 3year old son and 7 year old daughter before Brazilian jujitsu class (American Killer Bee NYC). They are stronger then the avarge kids in their class. It's safe no fillers.
