bachman turner overdrive (import),

IF YOU ARE A BTO FAN , YOU HAVE TO GET THIS CD. I REMEMBER WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT AS AN LP IN 1984 AND I LOVED IT THEN. EVENTHOUGH IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL BTO LINE UP (GARRY PETERSON IS ON DRUMS AS OPPOSED TO ROBBIE BACHMAN) IT IS GREAT BTO ROCK AND ROLL. THE FOUNDER OF THE BAND, RANDY BACHMAN IS IN GREAT GUITAR FORM IN SONGS LIKE 'JUST LOOK AT ME NOW' AND 'CITY STILL GROWIN" AND HIS WORK IS VERY MUCH MISSED IN THE CURRENT LINE UP OF BTO, ESPECIALLY IN PRODUCTION. BUT THIS IMPORT IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF BTO AND THE GREAT VOCALS OF C.F. TURNER ARE OUTSTANDING. IF YOU ARE NEW TO BTO YOU MIGHT WAT TO CHECK OUT SOME OF THE CLASSIC CD'S FIRST, THEN MOVE ON TO THIS ONE. ITS IS GREAT BTO ROCK AND ROLL. ALSO, THE FIRST SINGLE RELEASED FROM THE ALBUM IN 1984 WAS "FOR THE WEEKEND" FOR WHICH A VIDEO WAS SHOT. I THINK ANY BTO FAN OLD OR NEW WILL ENJOY THIS ONE.

The classic sound of BTO,
By A Customer
This review is from: BTO (1984) (Audio CD)
I purchased this selection a few years ago, not realizing until now it was an import. All the components for a great BTO cd is there: heavy guitar; powerfull bass and drums; and the deep, gravelly vocals. A couple of the tracks show influence of the rock and roll style from the mid to late 1980's, but it's still solid BTO. Worth purchasing? Definately. Worth the "import" price? If you are a BTO fan, yes. If you are "investigating" BTO, purchase one of the classics first, so you can follow the evolution of their music style.

Takes you back to the good times of 1973-75. "Another Fool" is classic BTO. Buy it for that track alone !

True B.T.O fans this is a must have,

I was born in 1964,so growing up listening to B.T.O. was a natural. This CD features the same intensity and power that is B.T.O.. What really makes this CD stand out for me is that this CD is not so textured as their previous work. When you hear the opening track "For the weekend" you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Every song on this album makes you want to find somebody to dance with. This 1984 album is truly one of their best, but if you own "Not Fragile" you will still like this CD better,or at least a close second. There isn't one bad song on this release.I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

The 1984 BTO reunion.,

C.F. Turner shines on with songs such as "City's Still Growin'" while Randy Bachman felt short on fresh ideas. Great album but there is still something missing.

Great CD but I see it going for an astronomical amount. You can get this out there on the SUN Label for less than $10.00 brand new.......

A decent comeback, but certainly no classic,

Songs like My Sugaree and City's Still Growin' show the band was capable of rocking on this comeback (from '84). But in total, the effort is uneven. Too many forgettable tunes with unremarkable melodies. It didn't help having a mediocre talent like Tim Bachman back in the fold. He was no great guitar player.

BTO's best,

Being a life long BTO fan, I was very surprised when this CD came out considering the music climate at the time. First off, it is just simply the heaviest BTO record yet. It hits you in the stomach and rocks you all around for the entire record. While it lacked the big hit that some of its predecors had (Not Fragile, BTO II), the album works as a whole. The opening track "For the weekend" is great driving tune and really kicks off the album well. "Just look at me now" features some great bass work by C.F. The coupe de gras for me is "City still growin" which is just a heavy dose of chunky chainsaw guitar rock that really kicks. If this album had been released in thier hayday, it certainly would've gone number 1 but be that as it may, this cd falls into the category of "rare gems" that you get to find every so often in the music world.

...this is not the original BTO I but the 1984 comeback. Great guitar work by Randy on "City's Still Growin'." At this price, you'd be crazy not to pick this one up!
