I don't know how the previous reviewers can morally justify their slamming of this legendary pop gem....but I suppose they have thier twisted ethics all worked out. although not a staggering masterpiece, this chronicle does indeed highlight am/fm 70's rock icon. few are the bands that stretched thier modest talent like BTO. I think it is a "must" for collectors and rock afficiandos.

This is a very good CD. I would recommend it to anyone who has not listened a whole lot to Bachman-Turner Overdrive before. I really like most of the songs and listen to them constantly.

I'm old enough to remember when BTO first hit the scene - the deep base and booming sound coming across the analog radio. So for $5 I was able to get the BTO songs that I liked for a reasonable price. The words I remember but the recording doesn't have the thunderous base/boom that I think was the hallmark of many of their songs. Doesn't change the words but somehow something is missing. Still worth it to me but can't say I love it.

If getting the hits is your top priority, you might prefer to purchase "Best of" versus "Greatest".

"Best of" has 10 of 11 BTO tunes that charted on Billboard's Top 100.
"Greatest" has just 6, but both "Best of" and "Greatest" have all the tunes that made it to the top 23.

Just play "Takin' Care of Business!"

That scene with Canadian rockers Bachman-Turner Overdrive in the Simpsons cracks me up every time I think about it. Homer probably would have enjoyed a bare bones hits collection like BTO's Greatest. It gets right to the point, collecting both of BTO's big hits ("You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" and of course "Takin' Care of Business") as well as ten other songs that were moderately successful at the time but don't get played every day on classic rock radio. They're all pretty much about driving and/or rocking, and you really can't go wrong with that.

There are better BTO collections out there (Goldis particularly good), but if you're looking for a decent, dirt-cheap introduction to the band, BTO's Greatest ought to do just fine. The sound quality is pretty lousy, but this disc was released back in 1986, so that's to be expected. Just turn up the volume and "get to the `workin' overtime part!"

Good Music with a few non-hits as usual in all albums - but this was better than most!
