5.0 out of 5 stars I love my BUNN!
I wasn't thrilled about plunking down $150 for a coffee pot, especially after reading the reviews about how they leak. I guess I was one of the lucky ones or BUNN has fixed their leaking problem. My coffee pot works perfectly. This is the best coffee pot I've ever owned. I have coffee on all day long and I was getting tired of throwing out old coffee. With this pot,...

We bought this particular model because we want our coffee to brew fast and wanted an insulated pot to avoid coffee cooking or forgetting to turn off the burner. It would be an exact fit for our requirements if not for a few quality flaws. First, as with another Bunn we recently owned, the water releases into the grounds in such a way that they splash up the side and a little bit out of the grounds basket - creating a mess you don't have with other brands. (We've tried different methods to prevent this but they don't work consistently.) Also, where the top black piece of the pot assembly is supposed to be sealed with the chrome portion, there is not a tight seal so when you pour a cup of coffee it dribbles out of the seal which makes a mess. (No we haven't dropped it or put it in the dishwasher - this started within the first few days of use.) Summary: Was willing to pay the high price to get the features and company name behind this product initially but the quality of the build is disappointing. Thought the quality problem with my first Bunn purchase was perhaps a one-time thing. Considering this second quality problem with a Bunn purchase, I will not be buying any future products from them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my BUNN!, March 31, 2008

I wasn't thrilled about plunking down $150 for a coffee pot, especially after reading the reviews about how they leak. I guess I was one of the lucky ones or BUNN has fixed their leaking problem. My coffee pot works perfectly. This is the best coffee pot I've ever owned. I have coffee on all day long and I was getting tired of throwing out old coffee. With this pot, the coffee stays hot all day without that burnt taste. I'll probably save money in the long run since I'm not throwing coffee out. I am very fussy about my coffee and as soon as it is the least bit old, i won't drink it. Ever since my first Bunn, I have not used any other coffee pot. I can't even drink coffee that comes from another pot. I don't know why it makes such good coffee, but it's just awesome, not to mention that by the time I get my cup and put the cream in, the coffee is done. Bottom line: This coffee pot makes the best coffee, it makes it FAST, and it stays hot all day. I just had to write this review because I am thrilled with my coffee pot.

1.0 out of 5 stars You should think twice before purchasing this ThermoFresh., October 6, 2008
This review is from: BUNN BTX-B(D) ThermoFresh High Altitude 10-Cup Home Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer, Black (Kitchen)
I always purchase Bunn coffee makers. However, I am extremely disappointed with this Thermofresh model. There are 2 primary problems with this model... problems that eliminate any advantage for buying it.

1) The coffee temperature at brew time is not as high as it should be, therefore creating "warm" coffee that is supposed to stay hot in the thermofresh carafe. Rather pitiful.

2) The carafe leaks unbelievably. No joke, if you don't pour over the sink you will be spending time cleaning up. I promise. ...and I hate seeing coffee poured into the sink.

Please think twice before you waste your money on this high-priced junk.

If you want a Bunn, and I usually recommend them, buy a different model.

I am quite pleased with my new coffee maker. It does everything it says it will, hot coffee, prepared in less than 6 minutes, and the warming carafe keeps my coffee hot for hours. The complaint about the carafe dripping/leaking when pouring coffee is not occurring with my unit. Make sure you buy the filters, when you buy the maker. They're a bit more difficult to locate locally than I anticipated.

5.0 out of 5 stars OWNER FOR 2 YEARS AND GOING STRONG, September 23, 2009
This review is from: BUNN BTX-B(D) ThermoFresh High Altitude 10-Cup Home Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer, Black (Kitchen)
It is true that from time to time this carafe dribbles when pouring, but mine has not had an issue for over a year now (a minimal problem at best). the coffee comes out HOT and this is the best machine i have ever owned period. the coffee extracts at the right temp for maximum flavor that will not disappoint *hint*-must also buy good coffee for this to occur. I was tired of tossing coffee machines after 1-2 years, this one is sure to last. and yes, I drink ALOT of coffee, using the pot at least 2x /day, which equals over 1300 brews so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars solution to the spout dribble, August 17, 2009
This review is from: BUNN BTX-B(D) ThermoFresh High Altitude 10-Cup Home Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer, Black (Kitchen)
The carafe doesn't really leak, rather, the spout is made out of really miserable plastic. So after one time in the washer or after a week or two of hand washing the lip gets a tiny fuzzy rough edge which makes it dribble most of your coffee down the side of the carafe. It's a terrible defect, but the workaround is simple enough. Every week or two use a scouring pad with moderate pressure to "polish" the lip of the carafe and you can safely pour your coffee into your cup rather than all over your counter and yourself. I'm still ticked off about it on principle, but it's a minor inconvenience overall.

Without a heater, the coffee won't be very hot after an hour or two, so if you like your old and stale but hot coffee over the course of the late morning and early afternoon, get a regular carafe and heated tray.

And the Bunn filters are a must. They are taller and I have never had a spill with them. I just received my second box of 1500 or so filters from Bunn and I've had this thing for about three years.

It makes fine coffee and does it quickly. They should fix the plastic, but I'm very happy with this coffee maker.

2.0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed with a Bunn product for the first time, March 10, 2010
This review is from: BUNN BTX-B(D) ThermoFresh High Altitude 10-Cup Home Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer, Black (Kitchen)
I bought this coffee maker about 1.5 years ago and here I am on Amazon shopping for a replacement. Not because its broken it still works as well as it ever did and thats the problem. I have finally had enough with its short comings.
1. The carafe leaks terribly when pouring. I do care how slow and carefully you try to pour it is going to trickle out the side of the spout and create a puddle under your cup or on the counter.
2. Sometimes for no apparent reason when I come in to the kitchen after letting the coffee brew the water has leaded from the coffee pot and covered the counter with about 1/2 cup of water. I have emptied the coffee maker completely and restarted it over and over to no avail. I have maintained this coffee maker religiously as it recommends in the manual and while it still works great the flaws have finally caused me to say enough. For the price of this coffee maker I expected allot more.
I have had Bunn coffee makers before that cost 25% of what this one cost that performed better.

This is our second Bunn coffee maker. We owned the prior generation model and were very happy to see the changes with the newer model. The carafe no longer dribbles down the side as you are pouring as they have completely changed it. I love that I can have coffee in 2 minutes and it tastes great. Its a bit finicky on the coffee grounds and filters, but once you get it down it is these best coffee maker I have ever owned. --FYI - We had to buy a new one after about 2-3 years as the plastic on the top had a very small crack in it and would leak. We are hoping this one will last a bit longer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst coffee maker ever, September 1, 2011
This review is from: BUNN BTX-B(D) ThermoFresh High Altitude 10-Cup Home Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer, Black (Kitchen)
I bought this particular model because I live at 9,200ft and was having trouble getting hot coffee. Not only does this Bunn make cool coffee requiring microwaving, but I put 8 scoops of coffee in and 8 cups of water. I rarely get 2-3 cups of very strong coffee back. This piece of crap is going in the trash.

2.0 out of 5 stars Loyal Bunn Buyer--disappointed, June 14, 2010
This review is from: BUNN BTX-B(D) ThermoFresh High Altitude 10-Cup Home Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer, Black (Kitchen)
I have loved my different Bunn coffee makers for close to 30 years. My goal long ago was really good coffee without a heating element to kill it. The carafe was spot on! The brewing temp. was right @ 190 - 200 degrees, but the lid got warm, indicating a lose of heat. I always pre-heated the carafe about 15 min. for max. hot coffee. I wished the contrary lid was smaller so there'd be less area loosing heat. Still, the coffee was always hot..until last week. After about 3 1/2 yrs. the carafe itself suddenly and unexpectedly lost ALL it's insulating properties. The exterior of the carafe has become very hot to the touch. Odd. What on Earth happened to the darn thing? It's never been washed with anything but regular warm soap and water. I gave up my first Thermal Bunn when it began depositing the water from the bottom of the tank onto the top of the counter. I took some responsibility there because I didn't use the rod as often as recommended and assumed it had become hardened with mineral deposits that didn't allow the water to channel properly. Otherwise care was always taken and I never washed any parts in the dishwasher. Now I'm searching diligently for just the right coffee maker, but it won't be a Bunn this time I'm sorry to say. The quality seems diminished and I paid $150 for this Bunn. (In this interim period I'm using an old 1950s Vesuviana stove-top espresso machine I got off e-Bay. And I may just keep on using it. Works great and tastes good too - using freshly ground espresso beans.)
