I found it easy enough to set up manually using a web browser. I'm familiar with using DD-WRT and understand networks professionally. The Buffalo N150 has some nice features. I bought this to use only as an access point, not a router, a function this unit is capable of. You can even reassign the WAN port to the switch, so it is like an access point with a built in switch, a nice feature. I was hoping for the best, but the unit works a little, then drops connections. I would reboot it, and the same thing. It intermittently works, then drops connections. I reduced the transmit power to see if it was a heat issue, but it consistently is too intermittent to use. I went to the Buffalo support site to see what I could find and there is an alpha DD-WRT firmware available. I downloaded and flashed the unit with the new firmware, but it did not improve the unreliability of the unit. I now have the Buffalo N150 WHR-HP-GN unplugged and in a box with other products that don't work. Buffalo has been around for quite a while and this was my first use of one of their products. Maybe I shouldn't have started with one of their entry-level products but I would be cautious now to purchase another.

If you're not a geek, this router is awesome. It comes with a CD which guides you through installation and secure setup. (The #1 problem with wireless routers is security, and the setup process is the solution.) It supports WPS, which means, you can hold down a button on the router for a few seconds, and then your devices (laptops, many Blu-Ray players) will automatically and securely negotiate connection to the router (no more entering crazy-long passwords).

If you're a geek, Buffalo actively supports DD-WRT (you can download it from their web site). In addition, the specs are great: 32 MB of RAM and 4 MB of flash space.

My old router did not work very well in our living room or in the far bedrooms. When it died last week, I was mainly looking for an inexpensive router that would work in all areas of the house. This router does exactly that. I have very fast download speeds and have wireless access in every corner of our home. Rooms that used to have barely 1 bar now have 4 or 5. I can stream Netflix on my 52" tv with no problems. I even watched a movie from Amazon Video on Demand in HD without interruptions. For reference, the computer I watched the movie on has a wireless G card that's at least 3 years old now. I would highly recommend this router.

Works great and self-adjusts power based upon weakest signal. I bought two with the second to be used in wireless repeater mode so to extend coverage across the house. You can get a good lesson on how to hook that up on YouTube but there is one thing they dont tell you ANYWHERE. Just make sure the main unit is set to WDS Access Point and the repeater to WDS STATION. Then is works GREAT!

I bought this router a couple of weeks ago through Amazon. I have never been a great fan of wireless due to limitations on devices I have used in the past but in this instance one was needed. Product works fantastically, better than any other router I have tried before. There is no manual for setup, just a cd which should do all the work for you. When setting this up it didn't work exactly as I would like and I had to change a couple of settings manually, I don't know if this was just my setup in particular but it is no big deal to do. I have been streaming video from my network server and the internet with no problems. I would definitely recommend this product if you need a router for general purpose use and for less than $50 it's a steal!

I've been using this as a wireless bridge for my Xbox and instead of faster speeds and better range I've been getting nothing but crashes that happen anywhere from a couple minutes up to but no more than 24 hours. I've tried everything from changing the wireless security to falling back to 54Mbps to flashing among many different versions of firmware for this product (pro and user friendly); regardless of what I've done, the same problem still rears its ugly head.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the "user friendly" firmware is somewhat broken. For some reason I cannot get the configuration pages to display properly in Firefox 5.0 or Chrome. Even in IE9 I have to turn on Compatibility Mode to get the pages to render properly. Even if the pages are rendered properly, the experience with configuration is about on the same level as chewing on broken glass as nearly every small change in settings requires a lengthy reboot. In my experience, the DD-WRT firmware seemed a little more user friendly than Buffalo's "user friendly" firmware.
In the meantime, I will be falling back to my rusty, but trusty WRT54G that this unit was supposed to replace. Next time if I want n speeds I guess I'll just save up for an official Xbox wireless adapter instead.

Oops! I nearly forgot to mention that if you flash this device with the non-Buffalo releases of DD-WRT, keep in mind that you will need to get familiar with some TFTP commands and have a Linux LiveCD on hand (or a computer with Windows XP or earlier) if you want to revert back to the Buffalo branded releases of DD-WRT or their UF firmware. Both are encrypted, for some reason, which will cause the DD-WRT web flash utility to fail on you.
