Great Lunch Tote!,

This review is from: BUILT Gourmet Getaway Lunch Tote (Kitchen)
I've had this product for about a month and it's been great! It arrived in the projected time frame and I use it about twice a week. There's plenty of room: I've fit bowl-sized tupperware, a travel mug, a 14oz water bottle, and yogurt all in there at once (it was a little tight but it zipped up alright thanks to the stretchy neoprene).
It insulates a little, although not as much as some other lunch carriers. I don't have a fridge at work, and it's summertime. While the food doesn't really stay cold, it doesn't get warm before I eat it. Since the bag is soft, if you put the tote in a backpack or something, your food might end up a little squished (but it is nice to be able to fold it up and put it in your bag once it's empty). The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that it was actually so big--it's rather cumbersome when you just need to bring a sandwich and a yogurt cup. So, I'm thinking of getting Built's smaller LB Lunch Tote. Their products are definitely high-quality and worth spending a little more; I'd definitely buy from them again. Oh, the last thing, which heavily influenced which kind of lunch tote I got: it is fun and fashionable! The polka dot pattern is adorably whimsical. The colors are more vivid in real life than in the pictures.

I bought this bag in the dot pattern and absolutely love it. It is so spacious. I took 3 bowls of soup to work in it the other day (some for co-workers). One of the bowls leaked out into the bag. I was so upset, but I took it into the bathroom, turned it inside out, and scrubbed it with hand soap. It looks like new again. I can't say enough good things about it. It's wonderful that it is washable, because those accidents are going to happen. It looks black with multi-colored dots in the photo, but it is actually brown with multi-colored dots. I like the brown better anyway. I have even gotten a few compliments on it. I'm thinking about getting my hubby the black or camouflage one for Christmas, just because the thing is so nice=) If you're thinking about getting one, GO FOR IT!!!

Stylish, but insulation could be better,
This review is from: BUILT Gourmet Getaway Lunch Tote (Kitchen)
This Built lunch tote is very attractive and stylish. I have the micro dot pattern and I think it is gorgeous. The material is durable, stretchy neoprene and it sports a tough, high quality zipper.
I got the Built lunch tote as a gift; and at first I thought it was a sleeve for my netbook, because it was so flat. Looks can be deceiving. The bottom opens up wide. It's so wide, I can sit my plastic containers in it upright. This wide bottom makes the bag very roomy. The only drawback is the Built tote is not as insulating as my other lunch bags. I can put in an ice pack with my lunch and it's cold a few hours later when I open it, but it doesn't keep much longer than that. If you need your food very cold for more than a few hours, I'd pick a different lunch bag. Some of my other lunch bags can keep an ice pack frozen and the whole bag cold for the entire day -- not this one.

Great for adults - not for kids...,
By S B (OKLAHOMA) - See all my reviews

I saw this lunch bag advertised on the Food Network sometime last year and thought it would be great for my daughters. After using the bag for awhile, I realized this is probably not the best kids lunchbox. My biggest complaint was that the food is easily squished while transporting it to school. Chips became crumbs, strawberries were mashed, and sandwiches were more like Frisbees. If you are an adult who packs their lunch in plastic containers, then this would be great, but I might reconsider if you are thinking about this for kids.
On the plus side- it is very easy to clean, and very portable as it folds up easily

I used to haphazardly remember to bring lunch to work, and would often leave the contents in our office fridge and forget about it for days. This tote has changed the way I have lunch at work. It can fit a host of lunch items and snacks to get me through the day. It's incredibly easy to throw it in the work fridge, and I always remember to go back to it (and it won't get thrown away by some over-eager co-worker on kitchen duty cleaning out the fridge). The only downside is the rubbery smell, but I hear that goes out after a few washes. That brings up another point of awesomeness about this product: I can just throw it in the washer when it gets dirty. Amazing. Would definitely recommend purchasing to make bringing lunch a whole new experience. Personally, I also love the French Bull Vine pattern because it is classy and subtle on the outside, with a pretty shocking pink lining.

This is a great lunch bag. I love the size - not too big, not too small. It fits a big 5C square plastic storage container AND a 3 cup oblong, plus fruit and a couple small containers or baggies AND one of those blue ice packs that's 5 x 2-1/2 x 1 inches. The ice stays solid most of the day in an average office environment, right through snack time at 3:00.
The fabric is substantial, the zipper heavy-duty and everything zips up just fine. No regrets at all about spending $25 on this.

This little bag is incredible. It can fit all my lunch items inside, even awkwardly shaped frozen meal boxes, and is so compact when it's empty, that i can stash it in my purse!

Great Lunch Bag,
This review is from: BUILT Gourmet Getaway Lunch Tote (Kitchen)
My family packs lunches for work and school daily. I have tried several different lunch packs over the years and have never been truly happy with anything I have bought. Most lunch totes are hard to store when not in use, hard to clean, and too small.
This bag stores flat, washes very easily, and has ample room for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. My son put this lunch tote with a banana still in it into his backpack and the banana squished inside. After he scooped out the mashed banana, I threw the bag in the washer on cold at suppertime then propped over a bottle to dry and it was clean and dry the next morning. If you are trying to figure out the difference between the Gourmet Getaway and The Built Extra Relish Lunch Tote, Black, they are the same size, but the Extra Relish has a removable carry strap and an internal pocket on one side. The pocket easily fits a packet of oatmeal, a couple of single serve drink packets and some tea bags. The one thing that you need to be careful with this bag is that it is not waterproof so if anything accidently spills the bag will leak.

Wonderful Lunch Box,

It's not as big as most descriptions make it sound, but it makes up for in flexibility what it lacks in general volume. I easily fit two icey packs, a full salad dressing bottle, three assorted sized tupperwares, utensils and a ziplock baggie in there with no problems. It won't keep things cold for a whole day, either, but it will keep them from going gross if you keep the icey packs in there.
All in all, totally worth the price and a wonderful lunch box.

Simple, but fantastic lunch bag,

I bought this lunchbag as a gift for my boyfriend when he was complaining that his usual lunchbag (standard insulated kind) took up too much room in his company's refrigerator.
Since I'm the one that packs his lunch every day, I do have a little bit of insight into this product. First of all, it holds a TON. He typically takes a sandwich and a few snacks an there is more than enough room for all the baggies and tupperware. That being said, it is very flexible, so on the lighter days, it folds easily, thus becoming more compact. The bag itself is very durable and pretty trendy looking. I wish that I took lunch to work too - I would definitely invest in one of these! |
