I ordered this planter to help with a fall project: planting hundreds of bulbs below the mulch in all our beds. I was a little skeptical that it would work, particularly in my rocky soil, but it wasn't expensive so I decided to give it a try. I was impressed as soon as it arrived -- it is a very well-constructed, solid metal tool with comfortable operation. And it worked exactly as advertised - it plunged right into the soil with the press of my foot, and with a little twist and pull, the plug of earth came right up, leaving a neat hole for the bulb. Then, push down on the plunger and the dirt plug drops right back into the hole, and you're on to the next.

My only improvement suggestion would be that they emboss some depth measurements. I took a sharpie and a ruler and marked out the 6 inches of its cylindar so I could quickly and easily plant different bulbs at their recommended depth.

Very nice product,it will save a lot on my back and neck because I can plant my bulbs standing upright instead of straining and digging. Very good quality and sturdy product.
