5.0 out of 5 stars I love it
I have had it installed now for only a few days but I love. I get to have a double din sized screen without the mod to go double din on my 01 Tahoe. Sounds great and looks better. For the price it can't be beat. Oh yeah the install was a breeze with the Metra harness adapter.

update: my screen on the radio no longer shows any images. it's just a white screen now. i did not drop it nor did it get wet so. basically it's a 50/50 shot with this type of screen detachable design. 1/29/2010

I purchased this product 6 months ago,and as far as the features go,its very good. Its touch screen, bluetooth, and detachable makes it nice. But,I added a system and whenever the bass hits hard the volume rises on its own. But,if you can live with that then its a good deal.

I purchased this product in apr of 2009, it looks and sounds good, however
about three weeks ago from today's date 6 July 2009 the screen started fadeing and a week ago it went completely blank, can't watch DVD's or interact with the display. I am about to contact the vendor because it should still be under warrenty.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, November 29, 2011

Wow, where to start. Should have listened to previous reviews of this. But For the price I thought I would give it a shot. Intially it worked normally, except fpr poor sound quality would not turn up loud enough and everytime I hit any thing in the road the volume turned itself up very dangerous!!

The blue wallpaper/background that just says boss when your playing a cd is quite ugly and cheap. But then a couple of months later after I bought it I started getting the dreadfull white screen. No image just white, I would would have giggle or wiggle the screen around to get it to come back. very poor quality.

Now it is all the time just white!! Will be sending it in to square trade for warranty. Dont waste your money, the features and all sound good but it does not deliver.

I think this unit gives you dvd touchscreen experience for not a lot of money, but dont expect it to be like the expensives ones. The interfase its like a generic chinese electronics type of thing, not very pretty

1.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, Great features, Inexpensive, Unobtrusive, Great Picture; Would even be better if the screen still worked., January 17, 2011

So the product pics you see are mine. You'll notice that the radio has a different brand name - EONON. It's the exact same radio though so I felt compelled to let everyone know my experience to save you some grief. Just an fyi - many of the Boss radios are the same as the EONON units you'll see on e-bay.

The purpose; was to find a 7" touchscreen DVD player that was unobtrusive, looked great (picture quality), packed full of features I may use one day and can play every format of video and audio under the sun all for around the $200 price point. This radio was the closest I could come - I didn't get a chance to test all formats, but most work well - at least the main formats I use (MP4, MP3, WMA, WMV, VOB, AVI). It played DVD+ and - R/RWs and CD-R and RWs. I like using the rewritables so I can change out songs every month or so. DVD were mainly used for music videos downloaded from Youtube which provided visual/audio entertainment for everyone else, but I was still able to listen to some tunes. The only time I ever played movies was to test it because I knew I wouldn't be watching them while driving.

The good; This DVD player is the perfect design for those who want a 7" screen, but not one that flips up to cover two of your air vents. The unit is relatively flush with the dash (at least in the Saturn) and did not stick out like I've seen some do. I'm no master car stereo installer, but I had it in there and testing a DVD in no time. The internal EQ controls work very well, giving you everything from perfect balance to way too much bass. SD card slot, mini-USB slot, Blue Tooth connectivity, back-up camera connections, extra monitor connectors, and bypassing the video safety was a snap (Same in every in-dash DVD player). The radio stations were easy to set-up and there were planty of empty slots to fill in. The stereo looks awesome and with it sitting low in the dash and with heavily tinted windows, you can't see anything from outside of the car.

The bad; If you want to change something on the fly while driving - don't do it! Unless you're willing to take your eyes off the road to fast forward or skip to the next track or even mute when you're coming up to a facility check-in gate or police car - you're stuck with what you're listening to. The pushbuttons on the bottom are completely smooth and not tactile. You have to look to see what you're pressing. I like to feel the buttons while driving because I know which one is which. There's on-screen buttons you can activate, but you pretty much have to take your eyes off the road to operate those too. The EQ settings also reset when you turn off the car. The Front-rear and L/R balances stay the same as do the basic bass and treble levels, just none of the advanced EQ settings. Also, for you folks who have those long MP3 tracks, as soon as you turn your car off and back on, it'll restart from the beginning of the last track. So it does not time-stamp MP3s for resumed play, however, it does for all DVDs. This is an annoyance since I have hour-long DJ sets I like listening to. Also, the screen is detachable, but that's all you're going to get for security. Unlike the units that suck their screens inside, this one is out there for everyone to see unless you have some good tint on them windows or detach it and put the 7" screen in a safe place when you're not in the car.

The ugly; Almost made it a year. One morning I went to start-up the car and the screen came on like always then went black. The screen went completely blank. The radio still works and it'll still play MP3s, I just can't see anything. However, before this event, I did notice that it had trouble locking onto a saved radio station, then went and zeroed out all my radio stations and started filling them in for me from the start of the FM band. It did that twice about a month before the screen went black. For other users, the screen went white. Nothing changed in my usage of the unit, however it has been cold here (as cold as it can get in San Antonio) and not sure if that could have been a factor. It's warmed up, and my screen still doesn't work. It's impossible to guess what I'm pressing on the screen since it's the only way to control much of the radio, so I just stick in a music disc or an MP3 disc. Guess I'll listen to tunes until I stick another unit in there.

Conclusion; I do not recommend anything from Boss/EONON. I had a previous Boss radio that played MP3s and had issues with MP3 and WMA bit-rates and skipping music after about 6 months. I should have learned my lesson. Fool me twice, shame on me. Time to shop for a premium brand that's nearly double the price, but at least I know it'll last more than twice the time. Don't get me wrong, it was a great unit when everything was working, so if you're still compelled to purchase one, good luck.

i bought this unit not even a month ago i went out and bought a 4gb sd card to put some music on and well the unit didnt even try to load it so i recieved my replacement today and again it wont load the sd card but this one did atleast try to load it maybe its just the card that its having problems with but who knows amazon is amazing though they shipped my replacement the same day i requested the replacement(yesterday) and like i said i got it today but i have to say other than that i really like the unit i think boss could change some things in the way they have the unit set up like menus display and such it seems quite primative but it looks really nice and installed in minutes all in all its a fair product i mean if i spent $600 on this unit or any more than i did i would be pissed and would've sent it back immediately but good for the price definately worth buying if you dont mind primative software on a budget
