Customer Reviews

These are some very small and very strong magnets.

It also represents an average value, i.e. you may see as much as a 20% difference from the weakest to strongest out of your 100 magnets.

Very strong magnets, perfect for metal collar stays and anything that would require strong magnets!

Most of the time these kinds of super strong magnets are so powerful they are almost impossible to use as every-day refrigerator magnets, so typically we use the larger ones for more unusual needs, like tying a large one to a string and using it to pick up a pocket knife dropped inside a fishing hole while out ice-fishing. However smaller ones like these work well for in-home use.

These are so tiny, that while they still have a lot of power, they are manageable. They will hold papers and such to the side of a magnetic surface, but you can also still pull them off that surface without breaking your fingers in the process. If two suddenly grab a hold to one another, your finger won't be bleeding afterwards. Typically these kinds of magnets can seem impossible to pry apart, but because of their shape and tiny size, they can be handled and used without much effort. After recently using several of these magnets in different shapes and sizes, I find I like these the best. Tiny, strong, but can be used without a struggle to get the apart. Great little magnets!

These are SMALL powerhouses, so small that i end up losing more than i use, and powerful enough to take the place of lid catches. I see several folks comment on size not being what was expected? The size IS as advertised, i.e. 0.25" x 0.125". If you looking for a good refrigerator magnet you might want something larger and easier to handle, also you probably do not need a Neodymium (rare earth) magnet (cheaper alternatives). I make small wooden boxes and use these to hold the lids in place. I drill a 1/4x1/16 hole in the top and side along the same axis (approximately) and glue (epoxy or polyurethane) two magnets one directly above the other. I find the epoxy bonds better but the polyurethane (gorilla glue) is more convenient, it's a good idea to remove (any non-soap degreaser) any surface oils for best bond.

I have used, and will buy again, BYKES 30 Neodymium Magnets Strong Magnets Refrigerator Magnets Super Strong Rare Earth Magnets - Perfect for Metal Collar Stays - 1/4 x 1/16 inch Disc N48(#1), Applied Magnets ® 100 Rare Earth Neodymium Magnets 1/4" X 1/16" Discs(#2), and Set of 100 Grade N42 Super Strong Neodymium Disc Magnets 1/4" X 1/16"(#3) so here is my take on the difference:

#1's have a slightly better nickel finish, stronger, less damage as delivered (chip out), seem tougher (less prone to chipping), BUT are more expensive at 2X the price per unit.

Not big enough to hold through the cloth of my shirts to the metal stays. Went with the 1/2 x 1/8 and have yet to lose a magnet.

Despite being advertised as useful for collar stays, these magnets are not strong enough. Don't waste your money on these.

Really powerful magnets! These magnets will definitely stick a bunch of papers on your ref. It is hard to remove them when sticking together, the trick is to slide them a bit. Push the top with your nails and then grab it.

These magnets has a lot of uses for school projects. With three kids, I have bought a few sets of them in the past. I have used the biggers ones also to hold turfs on top of my cars when snowing (not on windy days though). And attached them on the tip of antennas to retrieve things that have fallen in the sink or the sewers.

Just be careful slapping them together from a distance. Neodymium magnets are brittle and can easily breaks, if not, the the shiny chrome coating will come off. For smaller magnets like this one, not a problem.

Neodymium is a rare earth metal that when combined with iron and boron makes very powerful magnets that lose less than 1% of their strength every decade. The alloy oxidizes easily so it is usually coated to prevent corrosion, most frequently with a nickel plating.

Neodymium magnets are also brittle and will shatter into sharp fragments if dropped onto a hard surface or even if they are allowed to strike each other unimpeded. So they do not make good toys for small children but they have many industrial uses (such as in headphone drivers) and are LOTS of fun for adults to play with!

These N48 magnets are 1/4 in. x 1/16 in. with approximately 1.5 lbs. of pull force which is a good size and strength to hold papers on a metal file cabinet or refrigerator. One of these little magnets will even hold a metal keychain. The force is increased when two magnets are used together.

The quality is quite good with even nickel plating and no rough edges.

These magnets are super strong and well made. I wanted to use them for place holders to indicate where my stud finder found nails.
