4.0 out of 5 stars Babyliss Pro Porcelain Ceramics Curling Iron
After reading so much about Ceramic curling Iron -- I finally had to give it a try. I started with the Revlon Ceramic Curling Iron ( just did NOT like it at all)-- I decided to bite the bullet and shell out for a Professional one ( babyliss Pro). I did my research and seems like the Babyliss Pro ceramics series got the best rating over Hot Tool's ceramic series (the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice and hot...perhaps not as durable as other brands
I really liked this curling iron--heated quickly and very hot. My hair holds curl well, anyway, but this was perfect for days when I wanted straight hair with a slight curl at the ends--I'd blow my hair out with a round brush, then use this to smooth and curve ends under. After 2 years, it broke. I paid quite a bit for mine (from a salon), and expected a lot more life...

4.0 out of 5 stars Babyliss Pro Porcelain Ceramics Curling Iron, September 30, 2008

After reading so much about Ceramic curling Iron -- I finally had to give it a try. I started with the Revlon Ceramic Curling Iron ( just did NOT like it at all)-- I decided to bite the bullet and shell out for a Professional one ( babyliss Pro). I did my research and seems like the Babyliss Pro ceramics series got the best rating over Hot Tool's ceramic series (the purple ones, NOT the gold series).
I bought a 1 1/2" curling iron to begin --and since it was supposed to get really HOT (at 200W) I started out at setting 16 -- and was TRULY disappointed. It did curl my (asian coarse) hair but the curl lasted like 10 mins. I was almost tempted to RETURN IT ! I'm glad that I didn't because I tried it multiple time, each time slowly increasing the setting. My number was 24 (there is a total of 30 setting)! It's hot enough to curl and the curls lasted the whole day -- I normally only use only heat protectant with no mousse or gel or hairspray. So, my advise to all the 1st time Babyliss user would be to either TURN IT UP or slowly dial up to find a number that's perfect for your hair :)
My normal curling iron is the Conair Instant Heat, which I LOVE but I have to say using the Babyliss Pro Ceramic curling iron -- my hair does feel a LOT softer and I have less frizz :) Yes, I would buy babyliss again, I'm waiting for my order of the 3/4" & 1 " curling iron to arrive :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Could stand to be just a little hotter, March 1, 2008
This review is from: BaByliss Pro BABP150S Porcelain Ceramic Curling Iron with Patented Instant Heat Technology, 1.5 Inch (Health and Beauty)
I have the 5/8" barrel version of this and I love it. I've compared it to a Vidal Sassoon and a Remington (plugged them in and turned them all on at once). While this one is the slowest to heat (by about 30 seconds), the curls I make with this one are curlier and last longer. The other two made my hair mainly straight with a little flip at the end and they fell out straight within an hour. Since I had used all three on my head at once, it looked pretty silly with some parts being still curly and some not!

Anyway, if you can spare the extra 30 seconds to heat up, I recommend this, but I do have to hold it in my hair longer to make sure I get the curl. (I hold it until a finger placed on the outside of the hair on the barrel begins to be uncomfortably hot.)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best curling irons out there!, December 24, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BaByliss Pro BABP150S Porcelain Ceramic Curling Iron with Patented Instant Heat Technology, 1.5 Inch (Health and Beauty)
One of the best curling irons out there....really! I have another BaByliss iron and I have no complaints! If you have coarse or Asian hair, this is one of the only irons that can give you the heat you need!

It's ironic that one of my old drugstore curling irons from 10-15 years ago still works great! Guess you don't always get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best purchase I've made, September 6, 2007

there are very fews things that I have tried that have changed the texture of my hair. This curler makes my typically frizzy hair silky smooth! I just blow dry my hair straight and then curl in sections. The curler heats up in seconds. This is the ONLY hair curler as far as I am concerned. worth every penny. Also, if you live in nyc, Rickys carries it.
