Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 2-Fans present and past will be pleased to see another story about their beloved Babar. In this simple tale, the elephant spends the day at school with his children, Pom, Flor, and Alexander. The ageless Old Lady enters the scene as the kind but strict schoolteacher. After a busy day of writing, math, science, and noisy bus rides, Babar is exhausted. He realizes that being a child is more tiring than he remembered. The bright, clear illustrations are adapted to look like the original artwork of Jean and Laurent de Brunhoff. A pleasant, familiar visit with a lovable old friend.-Be Astengo, Alachua County Library, Gainesville, FL

Babar is annoyed that the kids are loud so a debate happens about whether its harder to be a kid or an adult. Babar goes to school with the kids and realizes it is in fact hard. Thats it. If that sounds like an entertaining story, go for it. Not so much in my house with my 2.5 year old.

Babar books are always must reads in our home, but this one is a favorite of my daughter's. Just an all around fun read with a cute and unforced lesson
