4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, but not perfect

My son is 7 months old and just started sitting in high chairs at restaurants and shopping carts. So far, the Clean Shopper is working pretty well for us.

I agree with another reviewer, whose information I read only after I'd purchased the clean shopper. It is impossible to keep track of an unattached strap. I returned this product as soon as I saw the strap, which you need to attach your child to the cart, is separate from the cover. This was not specified in the description. 4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, but not perfect, July 31, 2006

My son is 7 months old and just started sitting in high chairs at restaurants and shopping carts. So far, the Clean Shopper is working pretty well for us.

The fabric is thick, so it doesn't make a tiny package. It also doesn't fold up neatly, so you have to kind of just wad it up. It isn't cushioned, but if it were it would be huge, and I have enough issue trying to carry my son, a cart cover, my purse, and whatever else I might need. Besides, he doesn't really need cushioning. Even at 7 months, he's perfectly comfy on the thick bedspread-like fabric.

The Clean Shopper comes in a thick plastic bag (the sort of thing bedspreads or other linens come in) that zips closed. It's a snug fit to get in there because of the wadded nature of the bundle, but it works fine. The handle is short and taut, so isn't of much use. A longer strap so it could be shoulder worn or hung on a stroller would be better.

The loops work well, and it's a relief to have a clean place my son can sit and play with anchored toys. He can't throw the toys in the floor, and he stays entertained.

There are velcro tabs on the front that can be fastened around the front of a shopping cart or high chair. This keeps it in place better. The leg holes don't match up exactly with whatever he's sitting in, but it doesn't cause a problem.

My main problem with the Clean Shopper is that the belt strap does not attach to the seat. It's a completely seperate piece. Unless you are careful to snap the belt clips together, looping the belt around a part of the seat, you will end up losing the strap. Somehow I've lost mine after only a few uses. I kept it rolled up inside the thing when I removed it from a cart, and it probably fell out in a parking lot somewhere. When handling a baby, your purse, whatever is in your cart (or trying to eat at a restaurant), it is very easy to overlook such a small item.

Since the website sells replacement straps, it seems they are aware of the issue. It's a shame they don't have velcro tabs that stick it to the back of the shopper, making it harder to lose the strap. I've ordered two replacements in black, so I can see the strap more clearly against my blue Clean Shopper. I will also make certain I buckle the strap clips.

It's a good seat cover overall, definitely worth having. Just be careful of the strap!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it, Give it as a Gift, October 4, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I love my clean shopper and every time I use it, I have at least one person asking me where I got it. I also buy it as baby gifts for all of my friends. It's the best purchase that I've bought. There are no strings to tie, no velcro to deal with, no snaps or buttons...it's just a piece of fabric that covers pretty much all size carts. To keep my now toddler occupied while I shop (I still use it for him) I place some goldfish either next to him, or in front of him and he eats them while I shop. Those who say there is no cushioning, that's not really the purpose of the clean shopper! It's purpose is to act as a buffer between you and the cart. If there was cushion to it and tons of bells and whistles, then it would be too bulky and too cumbersome to deal with. I can easily flip it on the cart with one hand while I've got my kid in my other. I highly recommend the clean shopper to any parent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for an OCD, Type A Mom!, May 31, 2006
I highly recommend this item. As soon as your little one can sit up on his own, this is a MUST HAVE for all moms. It fits all shopping carts (except COSTCO, but including TARGET) as well as those icky high chairs available at restaurants. It keeps baby (and Mommy's hands) from touching the cart handle and prevents the kiddo from wedging his legs in the wrong hole in the cart. A MUST HAVE! This is the gift I give at baby showers. I've had for over a year and it has survived many a washing with a touch of bleach. Still looks good.

5.0 out of 5 stars secure, easy to use, roomy cart cover, June 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this after having used an Infantino cart cover that I was dissatisfied with (too small - didn't cover cart sides, to many attachments and difficult to use one-handed).
This cart cover is huge and will even fit Sam's carts just barely. It works great on the average grocery/Target/Walmart cart etc. It has lots of strong velcro pieces to adhere it back to itself and keep your baby from pulling it off. you can loop the seat belt through the back of the cart seat for safety. For fast storage I just fold it in half and then roll it up and buckle the belt around it. I find I can shake it open and place it in the cart one handed, slide the baby in and then adjust it, add the belt and velcro it in place.

I returned this product as soon as I saw the strap, which you need to attach your child to the cart, is separate from the cover. This was not specified in the description. Also, it just bothered me that the printed material...the cute jungle animals that are supposed to stimulate your child, not you, for heaven's sake, are printed upside down to their eye. Sorry, but I have enough to look at when I'm grocery shopping. I am very disappointed that I still do not have a cart cover for my child. The clean shopper was at least reasonably priced. All of the other cart covers I've seen which are large enough to cover the whole cart, and are well designed, start at $60.

4.0 out of 5 stars This better that others I had try..., September 23, 2005
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
I try a couple of other shopping cart covers before and rounds up for refunds. So I decided to give this Clean Shopper a try. For the regular size shopping cart, this cover 100%, my son is not touching any part of the cart at all. For the Costco shopping cart, I wish the back side could be 2 or 3 inches wider; this Clean Shopper doesn't give 100% coverage for Costco cart, a corner of the Costco Cart is exposed. The padding is very thin, but this is very easy to use and fold. Please note that the Whimsical Animals prints are up side down to my son. So far, this is the better one I tried, and for this price, I decided to keep this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Happy and Clean Baby!!, February 28, 2007

The first time I used this shopping cart cover my daughter fell asleep (need I say anymore)? It fits nearly every shopping cart, it's easy to fold and unfold, and it gives me the peace of mind knowing that all of those shopping cart germs aren't coming home with us! Well worth the extra peace of mind it gives me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Shopping Cart Cover!, March 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I tried a couple of other shopping cart covers before I found this one. This shopping cart cover is amazing. It fully covers the cart seating area and velcros all around so that it cannot be removed by the baby. It leaves ZERO exposed parts of the shopping cart. My son was able to pull off the previous cart covers, and we were in constant battle to keep him from touching the icky shopping carts. Our problem has been solved thanks to the Babe Ease! I was debating between this cart cover and a very expensive one that had built in pillows on the sides for a nap. I try to plan my shopping around nap times, but sometimes it just doesn't happen that way! A simple solution I came up with was I use a very small pillow (that I keep folded in the cover in my trunk) so that he can rest his head. He now actually enjoys napping in the cart, and the moving cart seems to be a soothing feeling for him at the same time! This cover is a thick fabric, has nice toy loops, very nice and deep side pockets that I use for cell phone, keys, coupons, sippy cup, snacks, etc. (very nice to have the option not to drag your purse around) and the cherry on top are the bright fun colors for a girl or boy. One improvement that could be made is that it is very easy to lose the lap belt, and if we were going for perfection, I wish it was cushiony. Btw, this cover will fit all carts, including the gigantic ones at warehouse stores. Don't waste money trying others that don't get the job done, unless you are going to go for that really high end one (close to $100), which didn't make financial sense to me. All in all, my shopping trips have turned from a stressful, negative experience to fun because my son actually likes his comfy play area now!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste money: TERRIBLE, October 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this product and will not advise anyone to purchase it. It ripped after the first wash and as a new Mom you will be washing it quite often. I sewed it and it riped even more in a different location and when I say ripped it is torn to shreds. I washed it in cold, delicate with Dreft detergent. It is a poorly made product, as least the one I received. Even the stiching is ripping out. I am very dissatisfied and would not advise anyone to waste money on it. I hate writing bad reviews but I don't want other Mother's being as dissapointed as I was in this product and wasting their money.
