5.0 out of 5 stars this is what rock is all about, August 30, 2002

two of this greatly under rated bands finest albums. Stealin Home showed that the band had really got it going. you have to listen to "It`ll Happen In Time"....what a way to start an album. Babe Ruth also contains Dancer,A Fistfull of Dollars, and We People Darker Than Blue. Great stuff. Jennie Haan had one of the most powerful voices in rock. You can`t go wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, October 13, 2000
This review is from: Babe Ruth/Stealin' Home (Audio CD)
I just discovered that these two albums are FINALLY out on CD! I acquired STEALING HOME in the mid 80's as part of a bunch of 8-tracks that came with a stereo I bought. I was just a teenager then, but I learned to like several of the songs on that tape. Then it got eaten, as all 8-tracks do. I eventually found a copy on vinyl, and this past year I've acquired the rest of the Babe Ruth catalog on LP. STEALING HOME and BABE RUTH were the first two I had, and are thus, my favorites. The song "Tomorrow, Joining of the Day" is one of my favorite songs from any band. "2000 Sunsets", although just a straight forward love song, has always meant something to me. (Also, the EXCELLENT string arrangements on those two songs were founding member Alan Shacklock's parting gift to the group, his only contribution to that album) The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that each Babe Ruth album had a not-so-good track mixed in with the good ones. Nevertheless, I can't wait to hear these on CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Underated Band of the early/mid 70's!!, June 17, 2005
This review is from: Babe Ruth/Stealin' Home (Audio CD)
I have been one huge fan of Babe Ruth since the very first album came out in 1972, and that was "First Base."

Although I really love all of their albums, "Stealin' Home" is my favorite, I really agree with another reviewer(who I happen to have contacted personally several times), and he also likes Stealin' Home the best.

This album doesn't have one bad song on it, and the keyboards and guitar are just great, not to mention the incredible and powerful vocals of one of the best female rock vocalists ever in Janita Haan!

I have personally sent many e-mails to Janita, and she's replied back with answers to all my questions. She's a wealth of information, and I've found out many things about her and the group that I never knew before.

Their is a "Yahoo!Groups Babe Ruth Message board, and any fan of Babe Ruth can join it, and you can post your comments on there and tell how you became to love this band, because they were excellent, and the musicians were outstanding.

I highly recommend this particular album, and all the others too, but the very last album was with a different female singer by the name of Ellie Hope. That album is good to, I still like and enjoy it, but it doesn't match up to the first 4 albums, all with the fantastic Janita Haan singing with her awesome and powerful voice.

Glenn
