I like to take my three granddaughters to childrens' theatrical productions and then give them a book to match. I was happy to find an attractive edition of Babes in Toyland at a reasonable price in the Amazon Marketplace. It's not quite a picture book, and the story is a little complex for three year olds, so we look at the pictures and I summarize what's on each page. But they'll grow into it!
