You can't tell from the description, but this is a lift-the-flap book. It took my 18 month old less than 48 hours to rip out most of the flaps. The photos are clear and the pictures of Elmo are cute, of course. But there aren't a lot of other things in the pictures to use to help build vocabulary. As much as my daughter loves everything Elmo, I can't recommend this very highly.

Elmo is the best thing on TV, but his books - not so much,

My toddler, a devoted Elmo fan, adores turning the pages and lifting the flaps and seeing familiar images like Elmo, Dorothy the goldfish, and other habitues of Elmo's crayon-rendered domain. The narrative is pretty much what you would hear Elmo say on a segment of Sesame Street.
As a previous reviewer noted, there are very few actual babies pictured in this book, which is too bad b/c my son LOVES looking at photographs of babies, which is one of the reasons I purchased this title specifically. And, like all the books in the Elmo's World series, this one is pretty flimsy, much lighter cardboard than most board books or even other lift-the-flap books, so despite my best efforts at supervision and gentle guidance, my son has ripped off most of the flaps in this book and the other Elmo's World books we have. So the book is now not so much fun and the small pieces of cardboard present a pretty serious choking hazard. I have tried repairing them, but glue doesn't work very well and tape presents an even worse choking risk. At the price, I consider the books in this series semi-disposable and haven't minded that they only last a month or two. I won't be buying any more, though, simply because there are so many better board books out there -- superior in construction/durability, tactile experiences, illustration, and story/language development.

Elmo Rocks,

My ten month old loves Elmo and this book. We have only had this book for two weeks but it looks older than any of his other books. He loves the last page where Elmo plays Peek-a-boo. We do that part over and over and he laughs everytime. We thought it was worth the money and we're going to buy another Elmo's world book. Try it!

I bought all four of these books for my 18-month old daughter and they were well worth it for her. She sits on the floor and just turn the pages, flips the flaps and says ooooh, baby, ball and other little words. If your child enjoys the Elmo's World series on Sesame Street, they will love these books.

My son is 16 months old. The flaps in this book are a little big, and there aren't enough of them for his taste. I think this book might be more appealing to younger childern. Also, I wished there were more photos of real babies under the flaps, and not of puppets.
