About the Artist

Readymade FC is Jean-Philippe Verdin, a French musical maverick who has worked on everything - from day jobs as a graphic designer (for the likes of MTV) and a stint at Brighton College Of Art to remixing Serge Gainsbourg and Chet Baker, writing music for Dior catwalk fashion shows and DJ-ing in many of the globe’s top club hotspots.

Readymade FC’s debut album, 2001’s Bold, attracted sheaves of plaudits ("ploughs the way for French electronica", waxed national newspaper Libération, typically) and its smorgasbord of influences (hip hop, dub, electro-pop) - not to mention a memorable guest appearance from David Sylvian immediately established Readymade FC as a major force in resurgent French pop.

Fans of the US TV show Nip/Tuck will already be familiar with Verdin’s beguiling music and Babilonia offers timeless music that encompasses subtle electronics as well as miscellaneous acoustic sounds. This album is really pleasing to listen to - it shows the wide range of Ready Made FC and interesting to see the progression from focus of the vocalist to the producer. A must listen for all producers wanting to expand their game.
