What We Think

Fun factor:
Durability:
Ease of assembly:
Educational factor:
Novelty factor:

The Good: Life-like doll encourages role-playing and interactive play.

The Challenging: Baby cries loudly, so be sure to turn it off before naptime.

In a Nutshell: New "mommies" (or "daddies") can have their very own realistic baby doll.

Whoopsie Doo comes with lots of fun accessories. View larger.
Burp, Feed, and Diaper Your Own Baby
The Whoopsie Doo doll runs on three "AAA" batteries (included). With soft plastic skin and big, blue, cartoonish eyes, she is sure to charm with her realistic happy coos and giggles. Whoopsie Doo also includes two diapers, a rattle, a bottle, and two packets of Apple Doll Juice.

Her clothing is unfortunately minimal--she arrives to your house in just an undershirt--but if it gets dirty, it can be easily washed in the laundry on a cold, gentle cycle. The doll can also be easily cleaned with just a quick wipe of a damp cloth.

The baby bottle fits snuggly in its mouth, with a plastic top for feeding. You may need to give your child a lesson in diapering, as it is recommended for the baby to always be wearing one before it "pees" or "poops." It is also recommended that the Apple Doll Juice that comes with Whoopsie Doo only be drunken only by the doll. (The Apple Doll Juice is non-toxic, but you will want to monitor your child while she feeds Baby Alive.)

One bit of advice: Be sure to watch for the doll's sudden movements after feeding, or when fussing, as they are quick and at times are completely unexpected. She could easily move herself off a table. Fortunately, the doll is powered on and off by a switch, but if you forget to turn the switch off, the doll will shut itself off after whining one last time, allowing you to save on batteries.

Fun, Realistic Interactive Role-Play for Young Children
Baby Alive makes it possible for your child to role-play and interact with her new doll. This role playing will help them to learn the concepts of caring for, feeding, diapering, and cleaning their new baby, all by listening to and being aware of the baby's sounds and moods. The doll's cooing and crying are true-to-life, and it is obvious when the baby is either happy or upset, making it clear for young children.

Overall, Whoopsie Doo is a fun and educational way to give your child an appreciation of what it's like to care for a baby.

What's in the Box

1.0 out of 5 stars Must keep buying diapers and juice November 30, 2009
By Lori
Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I got this doll for my daughter's birthday. My reason for such a low review is because the diapers are "single-use," and it didn't say that on the package. The "juice," which is supposed to make her "poop" is also (more apparently) single-use, so in order to enjoy the special features of this doll, you must keep buying diapers and juices. (As an aside - I just looked on Amazon, and the diapers are $15 for 6 ($2.50 each!!), plus it says they are being discontinued. On the other hand, diaper reviewers recommend newborn (real) diapers as a better substitute.)

In addition, the first time my daughter "fed" her, what came out was indistinguishable from the pee - so I don't understand the point of the special "poop" feature, and the special food. Also, the second time, the food wouldn't even go in; it just dribbled down her neck. We are going to return the doll, as I suspect it is defective, but replace it with something else. The single-use accessories, at these prices, are simply too much!

4.0 out of 5 stars good toy August 19, 2009
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This baby alive doll is very much like the wet'n wiggles doll, therefore if you see the wet'n wiggles doll for cheaper than this doll i'd get the other one. This product is EXTREMELY durable my daughter is two and has dropped the doll's hard plastic body on our tile kitchen floor and she is still in perfect condition. This toy really isn't for my daughter because i am a baby doll collector, i just let her play with this toy. By the way, the only differences i can see about this particular doll and the wet'n wiggles doll are that this doll's lip's are painted more of a darker color, the sound on this one sounds more clear of a recording than the other, and of course ths doll's dress is more cute and the bottle is a different color than the other.

Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
although my daughter loves this doll, i feel like this doll doesn not live up to its expectations. this doll is supposed to poop and pee but all that comes out is pee, no brown, just clear liquid. i paid for my daughter to see and clean doll poop, LOL. i know that sounds bad but thats what i paid for. she already had the peeing baby so this doll doesnt really work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for 6 year old girl December 2, 2010

My daughter received this as a gift, she's almost 7, and LOVES this doll. We ran out of juice quickly so she just feeds her water now. For those complaining about buying diapers - you did purchase a doll that WETS, it states that in the description. So now...let's be creative. You can buy a big pack of preemie sized real baby diapers that last for quite awhile. You can also buy or make cloth diapers so you can wash and reuse - saving money and the environment.

My daughter loves this doll. She can play with it for hours, rocking her in her cradle, feeding her, changing her diaper. She had to go on our Thanksgiving trip with us too to visit family.

I highly recommend this doll! We got ours at a steal - $10 clearanced at Walmart - I should've bought them all and saved them for gifts for other girls.

2.0 out of 5 stars poo-poo on the poo February 18, 2010
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Called the company because doll doesn't poop even after 4 bottles of "juice" customer service said that the orange on diaper is the "poop" that pee from water is clear and poop has color. Asked why I paid so much for "juice" when I could have just put a drop of food coloring in water and done the same thing.... she had no answer. So while daughter loves feeding/ changing doll she isn't going to be happy with the answer I have for her... [...] isn't going to happen!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute toy, but daughter not interested February 5, 2010

I ordered this for my 4-year-old because she was about to get a little sibling, but she really wasn't interested. She thinks it's funny if the baby isn't wearing the diaper and you squeeze the bottle of water because the water (pee) then shoots across the room. We never actually got around to trying to make it "poop".
My only complaint (if she used the doll) would be that the replacement diapers are really expensive and you're not supposed to reuse them, although we found that if there was just "pee" (water) in the diaper, you can take it off and let it dry overnight and reuse it.

We got this doll for my 5 year e old for Christmas. She loves it. We had problems initially, she wouldn't "suck" but then we realized one of the batteries was turned around for the store display. Since then she has worked wonderfully. I will say the diapers are way over priced, I am going to get a pack of newborn diapers and hopefully they won't be too big. My daughter is 5 so she understands that we have to buy more diapers so she is careful to only give her real water or juice mix once or twice a day, to make the diapers last longer. The doll goes through all the motions and makes the sucking noise like she is drinking even with an empty bottle. My daughter is happy to "pretend" most of the time. I would not recommend for younger than 4.

1.0 out of 5 stars Whoopsie Doo Bites December 17, 2009
Durability: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This toy bites! Or should I say doesn't bite? I bought this for my daughter thinking it was a standard Baby Alive doll that eats and poops. I even bought the extra food and diapers. Once she opened the doll and started playing with it we realized it only "eats" the weird bottle "juice" and not the actual food. It doesn't even respond
when you give it a bottle. She's really not that "alive" except for the strange baby sounds she makes when you squeeze her bracelet. I felt bad for my daughter as she's been anticipating this gift for a while. Horrible. I'm sure Whoopsie Doo be tossed to the wayside before long never to be seen again as the "juice" residue rots inside of her little doll body. ick.
