Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book entirely because it had one story in it by Candace Camp. I have read just about all of her books with the historical romances being my favorite. This book is what I'd call an easy read. It has no real drama in any of the three stories, but all have a baby and a happy ending. The first story by Candace Camp called "Somebody Else's Baby" is about a widow, Cassie, who is still dealing with her husband's death. She is alone and likes it that way. Her husband's young daughter arrives on her doorstep one day with a baby - her baby. She has always had trouble with drugs and alcohol but seems okay now. Cassie takes her in with the baby and then the step daughter disappears leaving the baby. Cassie is in a panic when the doorbell rings. It's the persistent neighbor from nextdoor who wants to buy some of her property and won't take no for an answer. He ends up being a lifesaver and helps her with the baby and eventually becomes her love interest as well. The second story by Victoria Pade is called "The Baby Bombshell." Again we had a woman alone who has been given custody of her cousin's baby upon his and his wife's deaths. She is to keep it through the weekend and then by Monday decide if she wants to give it up for adoption. She lives in an apartment complex and is having trouble getting the baby to stop crying. She has absolutely no experience with babies and has no idea what to do. The neighbors are calling to complain and have threatened to call the police when the neighbor across from her comes to her rescue. It doesn't hurt that he's very handsome and has a young son of his own. He continues to help her throughout the weekend and a romantic interest develops. Will she keep the baby and maybe the man or will she give it up and lose the man as well? Finally the third story by Myrna Mackenzie called "Lights, Camera . . . Baby!" was my least favorite. The CEO of a baby company has instructed Eve to babysit his toddler son for two weeks while he and his wife vacation. He thinks she is the perfect mother type although she is single. He wants her boss, the man she's worked for but wanted for years, to assist. They are to move into the CEO's house for the two weeks - together. Then he adds a twist. He wants to film the two of them pretending to be the parents to the child as an film of instruction for new parents. A perk for the company!!! How is Eve going to pretend to be a good mother when she has no idea how to do that, and how is she going to continue to have a professional attitude with her boss when she has to be around him 24/7 for an entire weekend?
