Highly recommended,

Wanting to introduce my young daughter to the world of books, my wife reached for this book. Made with sturdy cardboard pages, the book is filled with lots of bright and clear pictures of animals, with simple words and concepts to move a young reader along. Now, please note that the title is actually "Happy Baby: Animals," and only some of the pictures are of baby animals.
But, we did find this to be a nice book, one that my own baby likes looking through. My wife and I highly recommend this book!

Great little baby book,

This review is from: Baby Shaker: Animals: Happy Baby (Baby Shakers) (Board book)
My twins received this book among many other books when they were born, and this was the one they reached out for first. From early as 3 months old, I would flip through the book page by page, and show them the pictures and say the names of the animals, and they would look at the pictures and really seemed to pay attention. As they grew a little older, they would get excited when they saw certain animals, like the lion or the butterfly. I think my twins prefer books with photographs instead of drawings, and so Happy Baby Animals really captured their interest. Also, the small size of the book is suited for their little hands and they can grasp the book and turn the pages for themselves. My twins are now one year old, and though the pages have become a little battered, I am still getting mileage out of this book.

Good book, but a little complex for my 14-month-old,

My daughter loves the Happy Baby books (her favorite is the Spanish/English Palabras/Words) and she likes this one, but I find the concepts in it to be a little complex. It has sections about animal patterns, matching animals with colors, etc. that are a little over her head. In a year or so this will probably be a good challenge for her, but right now it's a little too much. Still, a great book - she brings it to me regularly to "read" to her.

Such a great book! The pics are real and it's a great book to both capture your infant's attention and later to teach your children first words. A favorite of my kids as early as 6 months old. I regularly give this as a gift for newborns.

I absolutely love the "Happy Baby" books, and so does my daughter. This animal one is no exception.
The photos are bright and eye-catching. My daughter would point to an image, and I'd name the animal. Then she'd point to my mouth, and I'd make the sound. As time went on, I'd ask her where a certain animal was, and she'd point. Then I'd say "What does the ____ say?" and she'd make the sound. I like how the animals are grouped in the book -- pets, barnyard animals, barnyard birds, zoo animals, water animals, etc. There are even sections titled "Happy families," "Animal patterns," "Who's my baby?" "Why I'm different," "Matching colors," etc. These books went to church with us, and they kept her quiet throughout the whole mass. They've also been to restaurants, grandparents' houses, and on long car rides. They have all held up to her chewing on them, throwing them, and turning pages quite roughly. I have purchased copies of this particular book for several friends who were expecting, and they also love this book. It's durable, educational and fun!

Not as good as I thought,

This book is much smaller than I anticipated... It's only 6 inches tall and 5 inches wide. But, that wouldn't be so bad if one picture took up a whole page, but many of the pages have 4 small animal pictures on them - much too small to capture my baby's interest. Maybe when she gets older - like 2 or 3 she'll like it??

This is the third book we have of this kind. All 3 have been her favorites. This book has a bunch of animals in it and its colorful. I really like this book and my daughter does too. I would say this book and the others we have like it get the most use out of her book collection. Definately recommend

My three month old granddaughter loves this book. We read the names of the animals to her and talk about the colors. The pictures are bright, cheerful, and simple yet stimulating. I highly recommend it and will be buying the rest of the series.

This book is so terrific for little ones that my grandchildren wore out the first copy causing me to buy a second! A delightful book for babies to age 4.
