A Masterpiece of Conceptual Art!,
By
This review is from: Baby Animals & Their Fuzzy Friends [VHS] (VHS Tape)
No joke -- "Baby Animals" is a masterpiece of conceptual film-making masquerading as a children's movie. Forget Yoko Ono's "Fly", forget the Warhol stuff; this movie is ten times more radical and will change your life. I GUARANTEE you will never hear Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" the same way again. Every person I've shown this to (all adults) were mesmerized by it, and when I tried to stop the tape (having made my point about it), said, "No, no! Don't turn it off!" It's fascinating, and like nothing else you've ever seen. I saw it for the first time on my local PBS station, sandwiched between "BBC World News" and "Nova", so I initially had no idea it was meant for children; I assumed from the title it was a nature documentary. When it came on I was perplexed -- but strangely riveted. "What IS this?..." I asked myself. "I don't know what it's supposed to be... But it's brilliant!!!" Since then I've shown it to several people and they all love it. Not only is it a film masterpiece, it also makes for great background music. But don't put on at a party. All conversation will come to a dead stop and your guests will be glued to the screen. Thank you, Bud Gundy. You're a genius.

DVD Baby Animals & Their Fuzzy Friends,
By That Girl (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Animals & Their Fuzzy Friends (DVD)
My daughter first saw this show on PBS and we were able to Tivo it, but missed the first seven minutes. So we went online to find the DVD, and then bought it from Amazon. The DVD stopped working after 3 viewings - all we get is the C:13:00 code blinking on the DVD player! It's so frustrating, and it really upset my daughter. So now we either have to watch the DVD on the laptop, or watch the Tivo version that's missing the first seven minutes. The actual show of the animals is great! It's no text, no words, just classical music (Vivaldi, Mozart), and my daughter talks during the show and makes up stories about each animal. Then we went online to the local PBS website and found out we could buy the show directly from them; however, they only have VHS version - but we don't want to buy VHS anymore. So, we're kind of stuck. My husband doesn't want to shell out another $14 for another DVD that's probably crappy and going to break after a few viewings. My kid just uses the laptop now - which means, I can't get any work done when it's her "TV Time" - which was the whole point of letting her watch TV in the first place. Basically, Mommy lost out - $14 and her work time - on this situation. However, my kid loves goats, penguins, polar bears, kitties, puppies...etc, so she's content. I won't say she's happy, because every now and then, she'll ask me to fix the DVD so she can watch the whole show from the beginning on the TV - and I can't do that for her. Unless PBS reruns it and we catch that whole viewing on our Tivo - this family is at an impasse! I give the actual content on this DVD a 5 stars - I give the crap production of the DVD 0. 3 was the average. If you buy this DVD, just be aware that you may only get a few viewings before it breaks.

This video is simply cute animals frolicking to classical music. Period. It couldn't be better! My twins LOVE this video and in the beginning would cry when it was over. There are no annoying commercials or long annoying intro, either, it just starts up. The perfect DVD in my opinion
