This Sweet Story Makes Reading Romance Worth It, October 5, 2003
This review is from: The Baby Bargain (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No. 377) (Paperback)
This is one of those sweet romances stories that are very simplistic at the core but if your wondering wether you should read romance or not, this book could definetly convince you that it is worth reading. Kelly, though younger than most herione's by today's standards, has a one night stand with Dan Remington. She has quit school and is abused horribly by her father. When Dan offers her help through out the resulting pregnancy if she'll only keep the baby rather than going through an abortion, Kelly finds more in Dan's apartment than she bargained for. She may just find the kind of love she's been searching all of her life for. Dan Remington is still dealing with ghosts from his past and isn't prepared for the reality that he's growing feelings for the lady that will soon be having his child. This was a very simplistic story, although Dan's age is never told that I could find and it bothered me that I had no idea just how much older he was at times, this is told beautifully and will keep you turning pages long into the night.

A sweet story..., April 26, 2003
Kelly Russell has spent her life in fear since her twelfth birthday when her father first told her she must repent for her sins. In an act of defiance, Kelly snuck out of the house on New Year's Eve and went to the local tavern. At eighteen, Kelly was ingnorant of men, but when Dan Remington danced with her, Kelly felt that she had found her soulmate. Their one night of passion had dire consequences. When Kelly found out she was pregnant, Dan told her that he would take care of her until the baby came and then raise it on his own. Over the next few months, Kelly realized that she had to protect her heart from more hurt by shutting herself off from Dan. Afterall, he didn't want her, only the baby. Dan spent two years in a South American prison. Upon coming home, he learned that the woman he loved was pregnant with his child, but married his best friend. Hearing his daughter call another man 'Daddy' was the hardest thing that Dan ever had to deal with. When he met Kelly at the tavern, he felt like he could chase away the emptiness, if only for one night. What he didn't expect was a chance to have a family, something that he knew that he always wanted. Although he didn't think he loved Kelly, he soon realized that there were so many things about her that he did love, that he couldn't even name them all. All he did know was that he had to convince her that he loved her as much as he loved the baby, and that she had to marry him. The Baby Bargain is a sweet story between these two people. Although very naive, Kelly is a sweet girl that is a lot older than her years because of what she went through. I read it in less than a day because it's a very fast paced read!

Pretty awful, July 23, 2010
I actually thought this book was kind of terrible. I've liked Dallas Schulze's books in the past, but this certainly was not a good effort. The romance just didn't seem to be there, and the characters didn't seem to be developed well at all. And the whole part about Dan not having a place in his daughter Danielle's life didn't make sense. Was it just going to be a big secret forever? Seemed kind of stupid to me. The whole "broken people" idea is a good idea, but it needed to be fleshed out much more than this...in this book, it just seemed to be a device for throwing the couple together and explaining their love for each other.
