Melissa Sweet packs vivid color and ample details into her illustrations. This makes for a great experience when sharing the book with a pre-reader. The background includes sailboats, wonderful interiors with vibrant colors and designs, and plenty of action demonstrated by the bears. Even the favorite stuffed toys are "reading". Fun to read and look at with your child.

Baby Bear is a little books lover! He wakes up in the morning wanting a story. He reads with all the members of his family all day long! When the day is over just what do you think ends his day? A bedtime story of course!




The pictures were sweet. They spread over the pages making this easy to read to several children at once.

This is simply a gorgeous book to read to or with your child. My three year old absolutely loves it. The illustrations are as beautiful as it gets, and the text is a lovely rhyming description of a day in the life of a bear family that loves to read. It's funny and cute, and it will make your child want to read more. This book, together with "Starry Safari", has become a favorite that we read almost every day. Highly recommended!

If your child likes--make that LOVES--books, this is a must have! Jane Yolen's wonderful rhymes are complemented by Melissa Sweet's equally delightful illustrations. I know I sound like a paid reviewer, but this is one of my favourite picture books. Baby Bear goes through the day reading in every possible situation from before getting out of bed to snack time to dinner and bed time. He wanders around with a wagon full of books and his trusty stuffed bee and bunny. There's a book for every occasion and an occasion for every book. Try this one and you won't be sorry!

My son brought this home from prek and has asked me to read it over and over. It is such a cute story and great pictures as well. Definitely buying this one. :)
