2.0 out of 5 stars What a Disappointment
My son loves this mattress, and has always slept well. It meets all the safety requirements, which was our primary consideration when buying it. However, my son is 10 months old, and has slept on the mattress for only 9 months, and it is already coming apart! There are wear holes in one of the corners--right through the vinyl! Let me just state that the mattress...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good mid-range mattress..., April 11, 2005
This review is from: Baby Beautyrest Mattress (Baby Product)
I asked a couple of Babies-R-Us employees about what they would recommend both by phone and in store visit to see if I got any similiar recommendations and this mattress was most often mentioned. My son seems to be very comfortable on it and sleeps well. I would recommend buying the Sleep N' More if you plan to use the same mattress in a convertible crib since it has an infant side as well as a toddler side. Apparently the toddlers do not need the firmness that babies do and so 2 sides are included on that version. I do not have a convertible crib so this version suits my needs. The only difference between this one and the one that is $10 more by Simmons is that the higher priced version has 2 layers of covering on it instead of the 1 layer provided by this mattress. I opted to purchase a $5.99 vinyl cover for my mattress instead of getting the 2 layers. I am hoping that I can perserve my mattress longer this way since this is for my first child. I know that the mattress has air vents but I don't want to rely on that right now especially since we are going to be undertaking a move soon. I want to try to protect the entire mattress until we are settled. Just my choice and not an absolute necessity. In summary I prefer the Simmons over the Sealy after hearing the main difference which is in the coils. The Simmons has individually wrapped coils which make it firmer and therefore more durable and resistant to sags. I do not know how many children we will have but I would like this to be a one time purchase and the salespeople ensured me that this mattress would take me through several children if I should have them. And no, I do not work for Simmons. I am just a stay-at-home Mom who thinks that this whole baby industry could use an overhall. There are just too many baby products that are overpriced but of inferior quality in my opinion. People should have a heads up on what are the better products and what better way than from the consumers themselves who have their own kids' interests at heart.

To update, my son is now 15 months old and this mattress is still performing well for us even though I see that others have not had as good of an experience. Maybe the vinyl cover we added had something to do with preventing wear and tear but a mattress should be constructed to last through at least one child regardless of its price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent mattress, April 23, 2005
This review is from: Baby Beautyrest Mattress (Baby Product)
The mattress is a standard size and fits most cribs, all cribs sold by Babies'R'Us according to the salesperson I spoke to (who also had this mattress for her son). It has nearly 250 coils for extreme firmness, which is reccomended by the American Association of Pediatritians for safety against SIDS (they state that as a minimum the mattress should have at least 150 coils). I would highly recommend this mattress, after all it's all about safety.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy, October 27, 2005
This review is from: Baby Beautyrest Mattress (Baby Product)
We bought this mattress for our newborn. She is now almost 4 months old and has been sleeping comfortably in her crib since the very beginning. I love this mattress because it is very firm but comfortable and it has a waterproof covering, so I don;t really need to use a separate mattress protector. This is a big plus since it would have been very unhygenic to have stains on the baby's mattress!

This mattress is not cheap but considering that a baby spends so many sleep hours in it, it is money well spent. Great buy and I would definitely recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality for the price, April 12, 2005
This review is from: Baby Beautyrest Mattress (Baby Product)
I checked out several types of crib mattresses at many different places and found this one to be a good choice for the money. Its firmness is what sold me. It fit the crib great and there are no gaps between the mattress and the sides of the bed. As for the previous review, I am not sure exactly what crib she bought and why the mattress would not fit, but if I had bought a crib and a mattress and then put the crib in the bed only to have my infant hurt because I did not notice before hand that there was a gap between the mattress and the sides, then that was when I would have taken the mattress back, NOT AFTER he was hurt. Like I said, my mattress fits my daughters crib great and I am very satisified with it.

My son loves this mattress, and has always slept well. It meets all the safety requirements, which was our primary consideration when buying it. However, my son is 10 months old, and has slept on the mattress for only 9 months, and it is already coming apart! There are wear holes in one of the corners--right through the vinyl! Let me just state that the mattress doesn't receive any rough treatment; our son just sleeps on it. We were planning on him sleeping on it until he outgrew his toddler bed. There is no reason why a company such as Simmons should have a mattress that is so flimsy. I currently have a claim in to Simmons' warranty department, so hopefully they do something about this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Purchased two, February 27, 2006
This review is from: Baby Beautyrest Mattress (Baby Product)
My husband and I purchased this mattress when my daughter was born she is currently 15 months old. We bought it at the recommendation of the Babies R Us Personnel. It was the firmest mattress they had, therefore the safest. My daughter has always slept well on it & I have no complaints. We purchased a Delta Luv Convertible Crib that the mattress fits perfectly in.

We were so happy with our purchase we just went and purchased our second (and our second crib). Unfortunately this one is going to be returned. I am unhappy with the measurements. For my son (who is a month old), we purchased the Jardine Contemporary Crib and the mattress should fit right? Nope! The measurements are off by atleast 2 inches on either side leaving a gap on either side of the crib that I (not my husband) can put my hand through.

I give it three stars b/c it is high quality & a wonderful purchase for my daughters crib. I give it three stars b/c it really isn't a standard size mattress and needs to be measured AT THE STORE to make sure it will fit your crib. You should not be able to put more that a finger in between the crib sides and the mattress in order for it to be safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy I found this mattress, May 18, 2006

After a long search for a firm mattress, and one that would fit my crib, I bought this mattress. I found this mattress to measure exactly what it states. I had to return other mattresses, due to to much space between crib and mattress. This mattress fits my crib perfectly. There is an upgraded version of this mattress, the beautyrest mattress III. I wonder if that is the mattress that wasn't fitting in some of the cribs mentioned in earlier reviews. It runs $10 more at BRU's. I picked this one because it seemed to be a little bit wider. If your looking for a firm mattress, pick simmons over sealy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Careful- Is smaller than it claims to be, April 5, 2005
This review is from: Baby Beautyrest Mattress (Baby Product)
I would rate this mattess w/ zero stars if possible. It claims to be 27.5 inches wide, when mine is barely 27". My son got his arm wedged in between the crib and this mattress because it is a half inch smaller than is recommended by the AAP and Sids Alliance. In my opinion, this mattress is a suffocation hazard, and should be avoided at all costs. We are returning ours tomorrow, and getting our four month old a safe mattress.
