5.0 out of 5 stars I've loved this book for 40 years
I still remember the librarian reading this book to us in first grade. I remembered it when my children were born but, alas, couldn't find it in print any longer. So I got it out of the library and photocopied the whole thing (horrors!). My kids loved that black-and-white version so much that, now that I'm a grandmother, my son wants it to read to his own son. Thank...

3.0 out of 5 stars LOVE the story, dislike the illustrations!
First of all, I love Diane Redfield Massie, and so does my son. If you can get a hold of "Good Neighbors", published in 1972, do so, as it is a wonderful story that we read again and again, and a great intro to her work. Redfield Massie was the principal oboist for the Honolulu Symphony, and she began writing children's books for her own brood. I can understand all the...

Thank God it's going to be republished! This is probaby the only book that our entire family has loved for so long. It is delightful and funny and warm. And it appeals to everyone because nobody gets to escape the problems that the kid with the mixed-up sleep schedule poses. I am still known to roar "Beebee bobby!" like a lion!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Nine-month old daughter loves this book!, May 8, 2000

I found an old copy of this book in my Mom's attic and I'm glad it's being re-published. It's a great children's book about a bird that makes noise at night at the zoo and the animals don't like it. Not only does it have lots of funny animal noises to make (which my daughter loves) but its message is about sleeping at night and staying awake during the day. (If only it were that easy!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny for the whole family, September 6, 2001
This review is from: The Baby Beebee Bird (Hardcover)
This book is funny in a way the whole family can relate to. Parents and siblings who have been kept awake by a baby will especially enjoy the comic view of their predicament. Those who do the waking will enjoy the baby bird's expressing their viewpoint. The artwork is great at showing the exhausted and irascible animals who are kept awake by the cheerful baby bird. The typesetting is very clever, too.

I've got a 1-year-old and a 2 1/2-year-old. My 1-year-old will bring me this book and not leave me alone until I've read it to him. Then he'll sit and look at the pictures after I'm done.

I am a special education teacher and this book has put many smiles on my students faces. It is one of our favorites. I'm still looking for the audio tape. If anyone know where I can find it please let me know.

Thanks,

5.0 out of 5 stars The Baby Beebee Bird, June 30, 2011

This is a great book - lots of opportunity for expression from the reader when read outloud. I've used this book in work and am now buying it for myself to read to my grandchildren. The book came quickly and in mint condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Reading with My Granddaughter, April 8, 2011

I bought this book for my 2 year old granddaughter because it looked like it would be a fun book to share. Well, we have had more fun reading this book, imitating all the animals in the zoo trying to sing the baby beebee birds song. Of course, singing "bee bee bobbi bobbi" along with the baby bee bee bird has been very creative.

If you allow yourself to "perform" while reading the book you will have a wonderful time and so will the child.

4.0 out of 5 stars Three generations of Silliness, March 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Baby Beebee Bird (Hardcover)
This book was our twin sons' favorite when they were about 2 years old. They loved to be read it. It was their favorite book for about a year. We learned to hate it. It is packed with drama for a two-year-old: Being naughty, keeping grown-ups awake, being in control, staying up late, and forcing negotiations with no punishment. For the adult reading it aloud, it is crazy- making by having to repeat the Beebee bird's call over and over and over. Kids love it! We are seeking revenge by giving it to our new grandchildren. It is a great read aloud book even if crazy-making.

5.0 out of 5 stars A preschool favorite about a noisy little bird, December 11, 2010
This review is from: The Baby Beebee Bird (Paperback)
I teach young children and all of them, toddlers through kindergarten, laugh out loud all through this book. The animals at the zoo can't sleep because of the new little bird who loudly sings, "Bee-bee, bobby bobby!" over and over. Of course, I have the children sing this with me in a high, annoying voice, and they love it.The end of the story features a funny turnaround in which the large animals annoy the bird when he's trying to sleep by singing the song in their deep, low voices (so we're also learning about high and low sounds). A word of warning, after you read this the children will be singing "Bee-bee, bobby bobby!" all day!

4.0 out of 5 stars disappointed with artwork, July 1, 2010

While I love this book, and the service from bookseller was good, I was very disappointed in the illustrations. The story is the same, but the drawings of the Baby Beebee Bird are not the same as the book I had for my children and wanted for my grandchildren. Instead of a cute little round green bird, similar to ones we have here in Hawaii, the bird in this version is not cute at all, but kind of creepy. I didn't realize when I purchased it that there would be more than one artist...next time I will be more careful.
