I really didn't expect to like this book. I mostly favor mystery novels and detective fiction, so when I downloaded this free book, I figured I'd read a few pages and decide it wasn't for me...but I was wrong.

I don't have very high standards when it comes to harlequins, so I'm usually gentle in my reviews. They're short by design, so there isn't a lot of room for plot development. But still, most have no plot holes. There were a few things that just didn't make sense. For example, the girl e-mails the billionaire who got her pregnant and he doesn't respond. Well, this is...

It was a quick read with a fast-paced (often racy) plot. Though the subject of proving paternity is a serious one (and treated as such by the author), the characters were light-hearted and even, at times, humorous.

Though I don't think this Harlequin romance book will change my mind about my favorite literary genre, it WAS a pleasant diversion from more serious stories of murder and the criminal mind.

But still, most have no plot holes. There were a few things that just didn't make sense. For example, the girl e-mails the billionaire who got her pregnant and he doesn't respond. Well, this is retarded, but when they meet again, she doesn't ask about it. ??

Also, I've come to a place where I find I am no longer satisfied with the "let's get married and everything will be great even though we've only known each other for a few weeks and each have serious personal problems to work through." And babies just make everything better. (NOT)

I'm in my early 20s, and have been reading romance since I was a teenager. I guess I just now appreciate books that give their characters time and distance. That said, it's not BAD as far as harlequins go, but I've read much better. The girl is not too bright and the guy is just obnoxious.

on the plus side, it is free.

I like reading books that I designate as "fluff" after I read some heavy hitters. I would recommend this book to those that tend to do the same. It was a quick read, but the story [.............] me right in. I finished it in one sitting and was never disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic plot, November 7, 2010

Jenna and Nick had a week long affair until he found out that she was an employee of his and fired her. She gets back home, dicovers she's pregnant and gives birth to twin boys. She does try to contact Nick (by e-mail) to inform him of his fatherhood but since he deletes all her messages and never answers, Jenna decides to book a cruise on Nick's new boat and tell him face to face.
This is just about the most stupid plot I've come across in the past six months. The characters' reactions, motives and actions don't ring true. Jenna comes throught as completely spineless and lets herself be manipulated by Nick from beginning to end. She even falls back in bed with him ! As for Nick, I found him far from sexy. He spends his time getting into one night stands and has no calms about firing his employees for no good reason.
It would have been a far more entertaining story if Jenna would have first sued Nick for firing her without a cause and them for child support. I bet her lawyer's e-mail would have been answered !

If there were zero stars allowed that's what I'd rate this book. Terrible plot, unbelievable characters. Permanently removed from my kindle. Even though it was free I feel like I need a refund for my time wasted on reading it.

I think I have read this story 100 times. Rich guy treats h badly. The h is madly in love with the guy even though he tells her time and time again not to bother. All of a sudden, in the last chapter, H decides that he has loved her all along and she is beside herself at the honor of being with the jerk. I know it was free but, really?

1.0 out of 5 stars Ummm - No!, July 18, 2011

I know its a Harlequin but still atleast let the heroine have some substance. She made me ashamed that she is a female.

Nico is a rich man, woman lie to him to get with him for his money. "She" lied to him about who she was and why she was on his cruise ship. She was an employee and told him she was a rich passenger. But when he finds out and is rightfully angry he is the bad guy? "Its not her fault that she lied to him it just happened? she is really such a sweet person, yearh right!!!"

She got pregnant by him, emails him and is mad at him for not responding. I dont know about you but I would not open emails from my lying ex - how about you? Then when she realizes yeah its expensive to take care of twins when you dont want to work outside the home, she goes to him for money and oh by the way I had two of your kids and you cant see them or have anything to do with them because you threw me over when you realized that I am a liar, jut give me some money and go away....

Diappointed....

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't believe how bad this book is, October 25, 2010

I have read a few of these types of books and never really expect much. This book was worse than what I came to expect, much worse. The characters, esp the main two, were so one-dimensional. No back story just that they were really attracted to each other. The guy had absolutely no redeeming qualities to him. I thought him a jerk at the beginning and a bigger jerk at the end. I was very much hoping the the female character would not end up with him. She was supposedly a good person but I really didn't see anything that supported that except for the little time the author had her interacting with the babies. The plot was non existent and the writing was oh so bad. Don't know if this is the author's typical work but not going to look for other books of hers. Thank goodness this book was free because it is not worth a penny, the time I spent reading it was waste enough.

1.0 out of 5 stars Spoiler Review--Don't read if you don't want to know the story end, July 24, 2009

This review is from: Baby Bonanza (Silhouette Desire) (Kindle Edition)
This book was HORRIBLE. I am so embarrassed that I read it that I have tried to completely remove it from my Kindle, but unfortunately can only "archive" it.

I thought this was a romantic comedy based on the cover that was pictured, so made the mistake of not realizing this was a Harlequin romance type novel when I bought it. (Okay, I got it for free which the only reason I took it). That was apparent soon after the first page, but since the last time I read such a book was when I was a teenager, I thought I'd at least quickly read it to see if the genre has changed.

Well, the answer to that is a resounding NO!! I cannot believe the good reviews this has gotten. Either the author has a lot of friends, or there are a lot of women out there still believing in white knights and shining armor, or they are all naïve teenagers living a very protected life.

I KNOW this is a fantasy, but geez, an ounce or two of reality may have at least made it somewhat believable.

So, let me get this straight--a woman doesn't tell her billionaire boss she is an employee, sleeps with him, and then gets fired. What would really happen--when he found out, his attorneys and HR department would work out a "settlement". (And by the way, we are supposed to believe she is not at all interested in his money.)

Then, per the story, she gets pregnant with twins and she tries to tell him by EMAIL?????? This scenario is so ludicrous, I don't even know where to start. First of all, in real life, she would not be doing the contacting, her attorney would. But let's just say she is so convinced that the billionaire will respond better if she doesn't use an attorney, does any person in their right mind think that a billionaire actually reads their own email???? That's what secretaries and personal assistants are for. And even if he did look at his own email, which the story indicates he did but deleted without reading, after seeing the first 10 or so, he would have had his IT department set up a filter so he didn't receive them, or have his attorneys contact her for being a nuisance. At this point someone would have read one of the emails and he would have found out about the babies.

But no, she goes on a cruise to meet up with him. Amazing how a billionaire just walks around a cruise ship with no security. THEN, of all the MOST ludicrous things, when he finds out why she is there, he moves her into his OWN cabin to "keep an eye on her". Oh gee, I wonder what is going to happen next? To make it worse--she goes. This woman is so stupid, I found myself wishing some not so nice things would happen to her, but she has two babies, so I control my thoughts.

But alas, it is a romance novel, so the billionaire simply abandons his shipping business to sleep in her extremely small house on the sofa until she agrees to spend forever with him. And I went into my bathroom......

1.0 out of 5 stars Too silly, October 16, 2011

This book doesn't even try to stay on speaking terms with anything resembling reality, which is disappointing because the plot is so simple and the characters are so one-dimensional that it wouldn't have put the author out to spend a few moments thinking about making the book realistic.

Jenna worked for Nick, a billionaire, on one of his cruise ships. He fell for her, thinking that she was a passenger. She didn't correct that impression (what everybody else would call "lying") and, when he found out after a week, he fired her. How likely is it that a billionaire would put himself in that situation? When he found out, he would have transferred her or given her a settlement to leave. Set himself up for a massive lawsuit? Unlikely.

Nick didn't bother to use any sort of protection during their weeklong fling (again, how likely is it that a playboy billionaire wouldn't think to protect his own interests) and Jenna soon realizes she is pregnant. She e-mails him (how exactly she got his direct e-mail address, the author doesn't explain) and he deletes the e-mails. Anybody else on earth -- knowing how much it costs to just give birth to twins -- would be contacting a lawyer. Jenna bides her time and then makes a scrapbook and books passage on a cruise ship.

She's certain Nick will be on this trip, despite the fact that he has multiple ships. She's lucky, because he is. She delivers him a cute little baby announcement and the plot proceeds exactly as you expect it would.

Nick only thought he didn't want a family because he didn't know how awesome it was, Jenna has completely recovered her pre-baby body four months after giving birth to twins, any impediment to love is quickly swept away.

Forget sub-plots -- I think saying this book even has a main plot is being generous. The female main is so stupid, I found myself wishing this was a different sort of book, one where Nick would sue for sole custody and sail off with the twins, leaving Jenna to cry alone with her dumb mail-order gift basket business.
