Even if you haven’t ever adopted a pet or been involved in animal rescue, you will be deeply moved by Jenny Karns’ book “Baby Boy Phoenix, a Tale of Rescue, Love and Second Chances.” This is a beautifully written story full of tragedy, compassion and joy. Ms. Karns’ main character is Phoenix, a much abused Shi Tzu, whose first lucky move, though it may be hard to believe, was to wind up in an animal shelter, from where he was rescued by a group called Leave No Paws Behind. Phoenix was in such terrible shape that there was much doubt whether or not he would survive. With the love and attention of his rescuers and his veterinarians, he did survive and go on to be adopted by Ms. Karns and have a life that most of us would envy!

“Baby Boy Phoenix” will make you cry and laugh and hopefully gain more compassion for the less fortunate who ask nothing but to love and be loved. May all of us be as lucky as Phoenix and have someone as loving as Ms. Karns care enough to tell our story.

If you are a dog or animal lover, don't expect to get through this book without tears! There will be tears of joy, tears of sorrow, and tears of relief as you follow one furball's amazing journey from neglect to love. Baby Boy Phoenix, along with the humans caring for him, will steal your heart. Oh, and there are miracles! Healing miracles. And of course, even Baby Boy Phoenix himself has something to say...because as any dog lover knows - they talk! I am ordering multiple copies for gifts for my animal lover friends.

I am a faithful LNPB, inc. Prayer warrior. Phoenix's story is full of sadness, miracles and best of all a happy ending. This little fur baby is fulfilling God's plan for him. To teach forgiveness, strength and love....

I have followed Leave no Paws Behind for quite awhile and remember when BB Phoenix was rescued in the summer. At first there was even doubts he would survive and when he started to respond there were definate doubts that he would be able to save his leg that had been eaten up by the maggots. But What love does for this beautiful dog is amazing. I downloaded this book for my Kindle and read it during my lunch hour. I love reading from the viewpoint of Phoenix and his furbrother Chester as well as those other involved with Phoenix's recovery. He has the potential of getting a "movie of the week"! He is goreous and what a wonderful boy he is. The heros of this story are His Mommy Jenny is amazing and I wish her the best, As well as Chester and last but not least Toby and Leave no Paws Behind-This organization takes the "unadoptable" and makes them realize that their lives matter whether it is for just a few days or years. The outcast dogs have someone in their cornoer. This story is a must read for those of us that are pulling for the animal rescues.

What a beautifully written story of the love of a sweet boy and his rescue mommy. It just goes to show you what joy they bring into our lives and the joy they receive as well. So loved the different perspectives used to tell BBP's story. Much love to Jenny, Chester & Baby Boy Phoenix as well as LNPB & the vets.

I have followed BBP's story from rescue. From Toby that saved him, to Jenny that shares his love with all of us. What a wonderful tale. i loved that the book was from the various perspectives of people and dogs involved in his rescue and rehabilitation. You actually think that BBP is speaking. A wonderful book I have shared with many. A great gift from rescues to families that adopt shelter pets. Also would be great in schools to help children understand what happens when people mistreat or abandon an animal.
