Reminiscent of photographer Anne Geddes' whimsical pictures of costumed babies, Landry's tiny, pale, delicate watercolor-and-pencil artwork shows baby faces peeking out of pea pods, popsicles, a mailbox, and a pumpkin. Plenty of realistic baby activities are also depicted: little ones play on a beach and with toys, look at themselves in a mirror, and take a bath. The realistic and whimsical babies are grouped into simple chapters: "Baby Food," "Baby Clothes," "Nature Babies," and so on. The trim size, appropriately smaller than normal, is just right for lap sharing with a young listener, who will respond to the roundup of small, sweet infants doing what babies do and, perhaps, what they dream of. Congratulations to Leo Landry on his first book.
He captures the essence of babies in his own unique way.
And thanks to Amazon for having this book in stock, we have found it difficult to find in local bookstores, always sold out.
Looking forward to the Snow Ghosts. I highly recommend this book to all of those who have children

This is a very sweet little book. I bought this as a gift for a friend who is a new parent. Each turn of the page features a new section/category, with titles like "Nature Baby", "Fairy Tale Babies" and "Baby Bedtime", illustrated with lots of babies in a variety of fanciful situations. I like the simple, whimsical drawings and the colorful palette. And the tiny, detailed pictures that form the borders of each page (and which change, specific to each "category") are a wonderful finishing touch. It's a very inviting and fun book to read with a small child.

My 2 1/2 year old and I LOVE to look at the pictures in the book and read the silly captions and poems. So cute! It's a little delicate (easily torn pages), so I don't let him read it alone, like I do board books. He didn't appreciate it when he was younger, but now that he's learning colors, rhymes, etc., this one is a favorite!
