Wonderful,

Thinking that I was about to read a nice children's story about two Golden Retrievers, I was surprised and delighted to find that, as I continued reading, this little book has a huge heart. Jennie Hale has captured the magic and wonder of two siblings who realize how much they care for and love one another. Children who read this story, or have it read to them, will certainly hear its heartfelt whisper of kindness and feel its joy. Great job.

This book is adorable, smart, and cleverly photographed. This has proved helpful to friends whose little ones are about to become big brothers or sisters. And it was even entertaining to me as an adult! I highly recommend it!

What is it about golden retrievers that makes a dog lover, young or old, go wild?
In Baby Dog Beans Comes Home, author Jennie Hale captures the sweet "magic" of these gentle, devoted, intelligent dogs while offering young children an important message they can identify with. The story is seen from the perspective of Paul, the older dog who until now has been the only "child" in the family, and Beans, the new baby brother. More than anything, Beans wishes to be accepted by his older brother, but Paul is not ready to be friends, play catch, or share any of his toys. As a matter of fact, Paul liked it a lot better when it was just him. All this changes when Beans runs into serious trouble and Paul rescues him. As Paul realizes in the end, "It's not always easy when a new brother or sister comes into the family. But even if you're not best friends right away... give them a chance and you'll have someone who'll be there for you your whole life. And that's pretty great." This is a book that can be read to a very young child, and one that early readers will relish on their own. The large, adorable photographs are sure to delight people of all ages. ***This review was originally published in The Bloomsbury Review

This is a wonderful book for children whether or not they're experiencing the event of a new baby in the family, The photographs amazingly fit the text. In a very few pages we are captivated by these lovely pups, and come away with a smile in our hearts.

My 2-year-old loves the simple text and the beautiful photographs. The two dogs are wonderful (check out Paul's sour face upon meeting his new "baby brother"!) A great little book.

I gave this book to a baby I know & she (and her mommy & daddy) loved it! So now I'm sending a copy to my nephew for his birthday, since he just got a new little brother like the dog in the book, Paul. Perfect for any kids who are dealing with mixed feelings about having a newborn sibling in the house (and of course there is a happy ending for all.) The doggy photos are too cute.

Great book for your kid's library,
This review is from: Baby Dog Beans Comes Home: A Paul and Beans Adventure (Hardcover)
One special thing I do with my son is take him to the bookstore every other Saturday and let him pick out a new book for his ever-growing library. The last time we went, instead of first picking out ten and narrowing it down, he walked right for this book and chose it. And it's been his favorite ever since. The book has some nice photography, the dogs in the book are very cute, and the story has a nice message for kids.

This cute story was just right for my 3 year old who loves puppies. A great addition to our growing home library of picture books and highly recommended for puppy lovers everywhere, especially ones with little brothers or sisters on their way.

Both my nephew and niece really seem to enjoy this book so I bought it for my soon-to-be-born son. I'm starting a library for him and it's hard finding books that kids really love. It's got a great message too!
