I began putting my daughter on the floor to play everyday when she was about 4 to 5 weeks old. It is the perfect place. The mat is easy to clean and prevents drool and spit up from getting on the carpet. She loves the star. During "tummy time" she enjoys looking at the colorful mat. There are plenty of toys to change out so that she can discover new things everyday. It also comes with extra hooks so that you can attach other toys that don't come with the product to the gym. A friend of mine has one and her 9 month old still plays with it.

We bought this for our twins when they were 3months old. They enjoyed it quite a bit for the past four months, specifically the star. However, the star, after 4 months of use, has stopped playing songs. We still use it often as we are able to hang a lot of toys from the mutiple tabs on the legs, and it is excellent for traveling since it easily comes apart and is put back together again. We are able to use many different types of toys which keeps it interesting for our girls. I would have definitely given it 5 stars except for the short life of the star that it truly the "star" of the toy.

We purchased this play mat for our daughter when she was about 2 1/2 months old as a) an activity center for her, and b) a place to have tummy time. She is currently 5 1/2 months old and still plays on it, though a little less than she did before.

We love that there is a music toy attached to it. It can be set to play constantly or to whenever the bars get shaken. The music is friendly and the little sun lights up with every note of each song. I think there are about 6-7 songs that it runs through. Also, the places to attach toys are in prime places for our daughter and the toys it came with are fun (she loves the little cardinal). It's easy to clean (wash and lay flat to dry) and folds up nicely to just sling over the back of a chair or something to get it out of the way.

The drawbacks we've found with this product are the toy connectors and the velcro attacher for the music box/sun. In order to have the toys dangle at a height accessible to our daughter, we've had to put two to three connectors on one toy to drop it down to where she can reach. Because of that, we've had to go out and get extra connector hooks for the toys. The mirror that attaches to the play mat doesn't really have a convenient place to be put that doesn't block a place where a toy can be put, so you will have to remove some toys to put up the mirror (not a huge drawback, in our opinion). Finally, the velcro that attaches the music box/sun to the top stretches easily, so the more you remove it, the looser it gets while hanging there. Ours kind of dangles down now.

We paid $60 for this product in March 2009. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

Our twins have enjoyed this gift daily for their first two months of life. However, the music of the sun suddenly stopped working. It lights but won't play music. After reading reviews of it that is a common problem. The product is not actually made by Baby Einstein, But Kid II. Customer Service for Kid II has agreed to replace it but it is on backorder for 6 weeks. That might imply that these items quit working a lot. And by the time 6 weeks passes our kids won't be interested in it anymore. :|

I've had this toy for about 3 weeks now. My daughter is now 3 months old. It entertains her easily for an hour at a time. She loves that she can pull on links or kick the sides to activate the music all on her own. She loves looking at herself in the mirror and everything can be moved around to develop new points of interest. It holds her interest very well. Great toy!!

My son is ten weeks old as of this writing. We received this activity gym as a shower gift and began using it sparingly when he was a couple of weeks old (he wasn't too interested in it yet). The good news is that in the last few weeks, it's come to be his favorite thing. It's just about the only thing that gives me any ability to put him down during the day and, say, eat a snack. But I suppose I should be using the past tense, because as of yesterday, the music on the star stopped playing. Same story as the others. A few days ago, the music got raspy. Then it stopped. I changed the batteries. The music started again then quit after half a day. Now, after numerous battery changes, it's a no go. My son has almost no interest in the mat now without the music. I've emailed Baby Einstein, so I'm hoping to get a replacement star that will hopefully hold for a few more weeks until I'll probably have to write them again. I suppose in the meantime, I will keep my eyes out for a more durable activity gym.

Bottom line is, I'm glad it was a gift and we didn't blow fifty bucks on this. I like the activity gym concept, since obviously - when working - my baby is entertained and stimulated by it, but I'm going to be scouring reviews carefully to find one that works for more than a few weeks.

The Baby Einstein Seek and Discover Deluxe Gym is definitely worth buying---for either a boy or a girl! The colors are bold and bright; excellent for tummy time or laying on their back. There are toys to play with and pictures to see everywhere. Our son's two favorite things were the mirror (which he still loves today, at almost 14 months old) and the singing star. We saw some of his first smiles when he would watch the star light up and sing. Very durable and should last through any and all children you plan to have. Very, very highly recommended!!!

I purchased the Baby Einstein Activity Gym for my first grandson. All was well for the first three months until the star stopped playing music. Changing the batteries did nothing to fix the problem. The music plays for a few seconds and then just stops. Without the music, Baby Einstein is nothing more than a throw rug as our grandson has no interest in the gym without the music. Other reviews indicate this is a chronic problem and should be addressed by the manufacturer, this is not a cheap item.

I have been using this product for a few months now and she loves it. The lights and music get her attention all the time. I can even move the musically piece to her crib. I love the fact that you can change the toys around.
