5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy!

Nice concept but it is not really a kaleidoscope at all. It has flashing lights and music and words but does not come close to being a kaleidoscope. My daughter seems to moderately enjoy it (she's 6 months old), maybe she'll be more into it later.

My husband and I got this for our 3 month old for Christmas and he loves it! The handles are made so he can get his chubby little hands wrapped around them and press the buttons. Any time he cries, we turn it on, and he stops immediately to look at the lights and grab ahold of it. Recently, we took a plane ride and took this toy with us...and the passengers on the plane were happy because it kept him quite without blaring the music (thanks to the volume settings). I would definitely recommend this to any parent whose baby is interested in lights.

This is a great toy and teaches names of colors in three languages as well as teaches how two colors combined make a single color (ie red and yellow make orange).

I really liked the concept of this toy so I bought it for my son for xmas last year, he was only 4 months at the time and has really only recently been playing with it now at 13 months old. Each handle says the colour and plays a light show with music and when you hold 2 handles it names the colour the 2 would make (ex. blue + red makes purple). Already the "purple" doesnt work, it doesnt say the colour, light up or sing.. nothing. I was not very happy about this since it was purchased less than a year ago. I am very disappointed with Baby Einstein toys!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for older babies, November 23, 2009

I got this for my child when he was 5 mo old and he was only interested for 1-2 minutes. However, I put it up and brought it back out when he was almost a year old and he LOVES it. Now that he can put his hands around it and actually pick it up himself, he likes it a whole lot more. We found that the toy was pretty heavy for a 3-6 month old, so for us it worked much better when the baby was a little older.

Bought this for my grandson and he absolutely LOVES this thing. He's not picking up the concept of squeezing on the inside of the handles to make it work yet (he's 10 months) but other than that, this is a really neat toy. It has two settings for learning and music. Plus it has 3 languages for the color names in English, Spanish and French. It has the primary colors of red, yellow and blue but when you squeeze the two handles together such as yellow and red it does orange and so forth. I thought that was really cool. The adults wanted to play with it too...lol. It has many songs it plays so it doesn't get redundant with the same song over and over. Get this item! Your baby will love it! Including the parents :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Good toy but it's not what you think it is..., December 22, 2008
This review is from: Baby Einstein Color Kaleidoscope (Baby Product)
I got this toy thinking that this was a kaleidoscope of some kind. Its not. Disappointing for me, but my 7 month old son loves it. It plays music, lights up says the different colors in 3 languages. He likes to play with it and he loves the fact he can grab it and throw it around.

Now the picture is deceiving. The top light looks like 1/2 of a large golf ball. There is no opening or whatever that looks like in the picture. The shiny center piece is just a sticker with some reflective material. In the picture it looks fun. It isn't. If I would have seen this product before I bought it, I would have passed on it and got something else.

The toy is nice, and the baby loves it. Not his favorite but responds to it when its on or he sees it. It seems to be constructed well other than some of the words are hard to understand. Granted its a digital recording, but its still a little garbled; even at the lower setting.

I don't think it is worth 14.99. I see now a few days after I got it, the price went down. Go figure. If this product was cheaper I would say why not add it to the arsenal of toys, but for 15.00 there are better and products that are way more fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars fun toy, January 22, 2008
This review is from: Baby Einstein Color Kaleidoscope (Baby Product)
A fun way to learn your colors...in English and Spanish. I like it because it can grow with the child. At first a child can learn the primary colors, then can learn how colors combine to make new ones. I love that it is bilingual.

the one that I recieved has no blue light and since the light is the most interesting part of this toy to my son ... he only gets two of the three colors (he is too young to know how to press 2 at a time to get the other colors; purple, green and orange) If he presses the blue and gets no light... he leaves the toy behind and moves on. So we usually have to leave it on the musical setting and not the color setting.
