About the Author

Julie Aigner-Clark founded The Baby Einstein Company in 1997. Her goal was to provide fun, interactive ways to expose her own babies to the arts and humanities, subjects that were important to her as a former English teacher. Julie's first two videos, Baby Einstein and Baby Mozart, were filmed in her basement using borrowed equipment and edited on a home computer. Five years, ten videos and 30 children's books later, Julie sold Baby Einstein to The Walt Disney Company. In 2001, the year of acquisition, the company's sales exceeded $20 million and Baby Einstein-branded products could be found at specialty and mass retailers nationwide. Baby Einstein videos received accolades for giving infants and toddlers a way to experience joy and laughter through classical music, poetry, nature and art. As reported in The New York Times on October 28, 2003, 32 percent of all new babies born in the United States own Baby Einstein videos. Prior to the sale to Disney, Julie and the story of Baby Einstein were covered extensively by the national media, including appearances by Julie on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Entertainment Tonight, Live! With Regis and Kelly, The View and The John Walsh Show , and feature articles in USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Time Magazine, People Magazine, Redbook, Elle, Entrepreneur, Parenting Magazine, Child Magazine, Baby Talk and Working Mother. Julie also is the recipient of Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year Award," as well as Working Mother's "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" in three categories - Most Philanthropic Company, Most Innovative Business and Best Small Company. In 2003, she received The Distinguished Alumni Award from The College of Arts and Letters of Michigan State University. In the citation, she was credited with starting a billion-dollar media industry centered on stimulating the minds of infants and toddlers. Julie's new venture is a return to familiar territory - creating and incubating new brands. Aigner Clark Creative combines her love of the creative process with her commitment to charitable-giving.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Daughter's Favorite, July 9, 2003

This review is from: Baby Einstein: Babies (Board book)
This is clearly one of my daughter's favorite books, and has been for some time. The book is small (great for little hands) and the pages are easy to turn. She is fascinated by the variety of pictures of different babies. Our copy is well-worn and quite dog-eared, but has been quite durable given the heavy use.

I would heartily recommend this book, and others in the series, for any baby in the six to 18 month range. Younger babies will like the photos, and older babies will enjoy a book they can "read" on their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect first book for your little one!, December 10, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Babies (Board book)
From the time they can focus on faces, most infants are completely fascinated with other babies. This book provides the perfect opportunity to indulge in this fascination, as it is filled with baby images. Like all of books in the Baby Einstein series, the images are a mix of photographs, drawings, and even famous works of art, thus providing your child with an exposure to wide array of image types. Given the small size and sturdy board pages, this is a perfect first book for infants, but it would also appeal to older children, especially those with a new baby brother or sister. Overall, an excellent buy and a great value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a favorite, August 19, 2003
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Babies (Board book)
We have had this book for over a year and it is still one of my 20 month old daughter's favorites. We read it frequently and from the look of it you can see it is well loved. The babies are fun to look at and the words are appropriate for very young infants and toddlers that have short attention spans. I would say this book is a must for anyone with an infant just learning to listen to stories. It will stay around for a long time.
