Perfect Baby Gift,
By bondgirl (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby's Photo Book (Baby Product)
My standard first Christmas gift for my kids is a photo album of favorite people. This is by far the best album. The top is a little carry handle the child can chew on. The pages are adorable, and there are little flaps that ensure the pictures won't slip out. The album is plastic, so of course the pictures kind of stick to the pages, but we're not talking acid-free quality photo stuff, it is something a baby can beat up and chew on. There are little Einstein characters on each page your kid can probably recognize from the videos. We fill each of our books with pictures of Mommy & Daddy, siblings, grandparents, etc., and this one has a little slot on the front that is perfect for a close-up of the baby. Everyone just flipped over it, much more so than the cloth ones we've used in the past (which, by the way, had places to write in them and the ink ran when it got slobbered on).

Better visibility, but fewer photo slots,
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby's Photo Book (Baby Product)
I bought this album and the "Who Loves Baby" album that is also widely available in stores. This one is better. The plastic used to line the picture sleeves is a matte finish, whereas the "Who Loves Baby" is a shiney finish that causes distracting bubbles, lines, and sticky discolorations of the photos. In low light the "Who Loves Baby" book works well, but in any kind of sunlight, window light, or bright light you have trouble seeing the picture without reflections.
There are two "Who Loves Baby" book versions out there. One is rectangular--the slots in those books are a little less troublesome with reflections, but still stick to the photos in an odd way. The other version has a wavy, rounded shape--that's the one with really awful reflections/stickiness. Avoid that version if you can. The Baby Einstein book is much easier to look through. It has the matte plastic sleeves, little tabs for turning the pages, and a more solid feel. My only complaint is that it holds fewer photos than the "Who Loves Baby" book. That one holds two more (or three, depending on how you use it) than the Einstein version. The Einstein book holds one wallet photo (on the cover) and five 4x6 photos. I wish it held six or seven 4x6s.

This is a great photo album. I would however rate it for toddlers and older not infants even though it is also a teether. Overall I love it!!!

Is this product made of PVC?,
By Concerned Mom (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby's Photo Book (Baby Product)
I have an email into Kids II to confirm, but I think this product is made of toxic PVC and SHOULD NOT be handled and chewed on by babies. I was given one as a gift, and I started thinking twice about letting my baby chew on it after I got a whiff from the inside of the book (off-gassing). After all the media publicity on toxic PVC shower curtains, I can't believe no one seems concerned about babies chewing the same material!

Made with PVC,

I got two of these as gifts...it is an adorable concept since I love pictures, however the product is made with PVC. PVC - the worst plastic for you and the environment...it can leach harmful chemicals and being that your baby will chew on this...not a good idea! Come on Baby Einstein...find other materials!!

I wanted to buy this but babies will put the pages in their mouths as well as the teether. I called and they said they don't use PVC for the teethers. So I asked what about the pages? The answer is yes. But they didn't want to tell me. Why did they have to use PVC?

Great Comfort Item,

My 21 month old son has had this album since he was seven months old, has played with it daily and it has survived in excellent condition. He chews on it, throws it, and sleeps with it; the photos are very well protected. The thing I liked best about this album was watching my son progress from pointing out the cute animals to learing the sounds they make as well as thier colors, and then to recognizing the people in the photographs. This has become my son's comfort object. He sleeps with it, takes it to daycare, and had to have it during a short stay in the hospital. It is easy to clean and for that, I am very pleased.

Great book for 18 month old son,

We love this book.I saw one of these when he was little but I haven't ever been able to buy one at a local store. I now include this in all my baby shower gifts. Nicholas loves to look at his grandmas picture and make kisses. This helps ease the anxiety of out of town relatives visits by preparing him with peoples names before they arrive.
This is much better than the one my friend has. I am not sure of the brand but her photos stick to the plastic and got all messed up.

I bought this for my 3 month old son last month after my husband deployed. Since he will be gone for a year, I wanted for my son to be able to see pictures of his daddy everyday. He loves looking at his daddy's pictures and chewing on the album. It is so cute and is a great product.
