About the Author

Julie Aigner-Clark founded The Baby Einstein Company in 1997. Her goal was to provide fun, interactive ways to expose her own babies to the arts and humanities, subjects that were important to her as a former English teacher. Julie's first two videos, Baby Einstein and Baby Mozart, were filmed in her basement using borrowed equipment and edited on a home computer. Five years, ten videos and 30 children's books later, Julie sold Baby Einstein to The Walt Disney Company. In 2001, the year of acquisition, the company's sales exceeded $20 million and Baby Einstein-branded products could be found at specialty and mass retailers nationwide. This has been one of my 20-month-old son's favorite books since he got it for his birthday. I think it is largely responsible for his learning his colors at an early age. But unfortunately, the construction of the book cannot withstand the normal wear and tear put upon it by a child in the book's recommended age group. I have taped and taped this book, but it is almost past the point of repair. It's a great idea for learning colors, but it just hasn't held up very well.

I agree with the other reviewer who said it lacks durability. It's a cute book, but easily falls apart in the hands of a toddler. I too have re-taped ours multiple times only to have it pulled apart again. Even with supervision enthusiastic flap pulling is no good for this book.
