I purchased this book for my 1 year old son who, like most children his age, love noisy things! Unfortunately, the book didn't work when he opened it; and after changing the batteries it worked one day then stopped making noise again.

My son LOVES this book! He received it as a gift when he was 3 months old. The first time I took it out, he was crying and I used the music to try and distract him - it worked like a charm! Within minutes, he was laughing, looking at the pictures, and grabbing at the flaps. This book became an essential item in my diaper bag - it always calmed him when he was upset or distracted him when he was bored during car rides, shoping trips, etc.
Now that he is 9 months old, he STILL loves it! He loves to lift the flaps himself and press the buttons to hear the sound effects.
This book is AWESOME - I have bought it for many baby shower gifts!

I thought this book would be great because my daughter loves lift-the-flap and sound books. I did like the book/story/idea; however, the part that contains the sound buttons fell off the first time the book was dropped (which was on carpet). I hot glued it back on and the first it was dropped after that it fell off again. I have since tried 2 other ways to glue it back on but it still does not work. To this day, the book is downstairs and the sound buttons are upstairs in our house.

Both my boys love this book (4 and 2), but esp. the 2 year old. Really captures his attention, lifting the flaps and playing the music. Some buttons are just sounds (cat meows, or bird chirps), while some are bits of classical music (bee is Rimsky's Flight of the Bumblebee). Bright colors and familiar Baby Einstein characters make this an engaging and fun book.

I bought this for my daughter when she was about 14 or 15 months old. She is 19 months now and plays with it ALL the time. It's a great product, songs aren't too loud or too long. She's even starting to clap along with the rhythms of some of the tunes. It also has lift the flaps, which any toddler loves. I would recommend this product.

We purchased this book for our toddler, and it didn't work - even with new batteries. We took it back for a refund because the other books at the store also didn't work. In all, we visited three different stores and found five books that wouldn't play sounds.

I've been meaning to purchase this book for over a year, and finally got it for my now four-year-old. He's a beginning reader, so he's very interested in the actual text of the book as well as the pictures, flaps, and sound buttons. The cover has the duck character on it instead of the purple zebra, with the purple zebra on the inside cover page. Then there are five two-page scenes from morning to night, with five different Baby Einstein characters having breakfast, playing inside, playing at the park, having a bath, and going to bed. The illustrations are bright and lively, and my son enjoys lifting the flaps and hitting the corresponding button indicated. He really enjoys the book, and I do too. The music is a little tinny, but still pleasant. It is loud, but what I do to cut down loud toys that don't have a reduced volume setting is to place one or two layers of clear packing tape over the speaker. That cuts the sound very nicely, and you can still hear it clearly.

The only criticism I would give is that the button items don't always correspond well to the situation and accompanying sound. For instance, there's a banana on the breakfast tray--that makes sense. But less sense is the feather under the flap that's over Mimi the monkey's slippers. You lift the flap and see her bare feet and the feather icon above them (we say, tickle her feet!). In the bathroom, you lift the towel and underneath is a boat on a shelf. The corresponding button is a music notes icon that plays Beethoven's turkish march. There are a few examples like that, and none of the flap pictures correspond with the actual text on each page, except for the bubble bath, which I think is a missed opportunity for better reading comprehension. However, it's a great book, and it's a hit with the little one. And there's lots on each page to discuss and play with as you read along.

Batteries died in the car on the way home from the store. Replacement batteries lasted less than 24 hours!!!
