Book Description

October 2, 2001 P and upBaby Einstein
Research has shown that infants have a natural ability to distinguish and assimilate the sounds of all languages, and that repeated exposure to these sounds will help develop a child's auditory abilities. With this book, parents can introduce their babies to the sounds of five languages through simple phrases and photographs of colorful toys. The book includes phrases and object names in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Hebrew.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Julie Aigner-Clark capitalizes on her bestselling concept as she moves from videos to board books, prepping preschoolers for the Ivy League. Language Nursery teaches eight phrases such as "Hello, duck," and "I love you, lamb" in Spanish, French, Japanese and Hebrew. Color-coded text differentiates the languages; the pronunciation is included after each. Neighborhood Animals, illus. by Nadeem Zaidi features creatures and provides facts. Also available: See and Spy Counting and See and Spy Shapes.

About the Author

Julie Aigner-Clark founded The Baby Einstein Company in 1997. Her goal was to provide fun, interactive ways to expose her own babies to the arts and humanities, subjects that were important to her as a former English teacher. Julie's first two videos, Baby Einstein and Baby Mozart, were filmed in her basement using borrowed equipment and edited on a home computer. Five years, ten videos and 30 children's books later, Julie sold Baby Einstein to The Walt Disney Company. In 2001, the year of acquisition, the company's sales exceeded $20 million and Baby Einstein-branded products could be found at specialty and mass retailers nationwide. Baby Einstein videos received accolades for giving infants and toddlers a way to experience joy and laughter through classical music, poetry, nature and art. As reported in The New York Times on October 28, 2003, 32 percent of all new babies born in the United States own Baby Einstein videos. Prior to the sale to Disney, Julie and the story of Baby Einstein were covered extensively by the national media, including appearances by Julie on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Entertainment Tonight, Live! With Regis and Kelly, The View and The John Walsh Show , and feature articles in USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Time Magazine, People Magazine, Redbook, Elle, Entrepreneur, Parenting Magazine, Child Magazine, Baby Talk and Working Mother. Julie also is the recipient of Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year Award," as well as Working Mother's "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" in three categories - Most Philanthropic Company, Most Innovative Business and Best Small Company. In 2003, she received The Distinguished Alumni Award from The College of Arts and Letters of Michigan State University. In the citation, she was credited with starting a billion-dollar media industry centered on stimulating the minds of infants and toddlers. Julie's new venture is a return to familiar territory - creating and incubating new brands. Aigner Clark Creative combines her love of the creative process with her commitment to charitable-giving.

A Great Learning Tool October 12, 2002
Format:Board book
I got this book as gift and was pleasantly surprised to see it was larger than most of the Baby Einstein books. The colors and pictures are bright and vibrant, easy for a young child to see and keep their attention on. It's also very sturdy, for the chewers.

On one page they show you a picture, say, of a duck or train or whatever. Then on the other page it has a relevant phrase like "How is the duck?" and the phrase is repeated below in large colorful words in three other languages besides English: Spanish, Japanese and Hebrew. The words are also spelled out phoenetically, for those of us who are not too language saavy.

I wanted to teach my baby Spanish alongside with English, so this book was a perfect tool in helping out with that!

Our FAVORITE book!! October 23, 2003
By Melissa
Format:Board book
We're hooked on Baby Einstein! My son is 7 mo. old and he loves this book! He likes the pictures, but ESPECIALLY the mirror!! He laughs and smiles and gets all excited and he loves to hear me say the phrases in all the different languages. And, to be honest, I LOVE this book.... maybe even more than he does! I've practiced the languages and I LOVE TO SAY THEM.... especially the Japaneese! It's fun to read and look at and the pronunciation guide makes it easy and fun.... with practice. This is a must have book for babies.... (and mommies and daddies too)!!!!!!

Learn with your baby! January 7, 2003
Format:Board book
This book has great phrases in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Hebrew! I know almost all the phrases by heart because my four month year old loves it! There is actually even a mirror on the back page where they learn to introduce themselves in each language! This was one of the best shower presents I got!
