5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend to "entertain" baby
Love the lights and music it keeps baby entertained. The timer works well; I did not buy this for my 3 month old to play with so no problem there. Like the english/spanish/french feature to it. I usually keep it at 20 minute timer for local traveling; but very easily removable and bring inside and attach it to his crib as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous
I got this mirror for my 7 month old daughter. By the time she turned 8 months old she was able to take out the round part plastic that covers the lights and I FOUND IT IN HER MOUTH when I stopped the car. She could have chocked on it if I drove a little longer!!!! I put this piece of junk in the GARBAGE where it belongs!!! VERY DANGEROUS!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great mirror BUT terribly FRUSTRATING!!!, March 20, 2010
This review is from: Baby Einstein Lights & Melodies Mirror (Baby Product)
Originally purchased a Fisher-Price auto mirror:Fisher-Price Rainforest Baby View Auto Mirror which installed in our sedans middle seat w/out a head rest VERY easily, but then saw this one & loved the large size of the mirror & also the lights and music.
We did think that the lights were going to have the ability to be activated by the baby- by kick, since the lights are located at the bottom and still wish the company would do this.

This product is SOO poorly executed by the company: it was completely frustrating to install!
According to the package instructions the mirror is 'supposed' to be able to install on a head rest, crib or w/out a head rest which is what we attempted.
We followed the instructions & resulted in a mirror that the baby could not see into and that we couldn't see the baby in!
1. There's no included way to angle the mirror for baby to view or for us to view baby.
Not a problem with the much less expensive Fisher-Price mirror.
2. The placement of the battery compartment is at the bottom where the catepillar lights are- It makes the bottom of the mirror stick out- preventing the mirror from lying flat & further keeping the mirror from achieving an angle the baby can use. When my mom saw the mirror she thought it was upside down- which would have actually worked better!
3. Although it IS cute and entertaining for baby it isn't worth the price or the absolute FRUSTRATION.

If you do decide to get it: what worked for our installation was placing a rolled towel underneath the straps which anchor to the back seat. This allows the mirror to sort of lay on the towel- stick out a bit and angle down for baby and us. It isn't perfect because the battery compartment is still in the way.
At night we adjust the towel a bit so the baby has a better view of the lights- when baby can't see in the mirror anyhow...

2.0 out of 5 stars So cute-- Too Bad it doesn't do what it's supposed to!!, August 16, 2010

I bought this mirror to use in my husband's car- a Honda CRV- unfortunately, there is no way to install it so that the baby can see in the mirror or we can see her! I couldn't return it because I had to basically destroy the box to get it out. Waste of $30. The Fisher Price mirror in my car was half the price and installs perfectly. No luck switching either- the Baby Einstein Mirror didn't work in my Nissan Altima either. I'm contemplating writing the manufacturer but that probably won't get anywhere.

If you want this for the crib- maybe that would work- but for the car- 2 thumbs down!

Only thing i don't like is that i can't see his face and tried adjusting several times; but it could also be that we have the larger baby carrier for up to 32pds. I bought mine at Target; seemed to be the best one because of the lights and music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Mirror- Bad set up for Car, August 13, 2010
This review is from: Baby Einstein Lights & Melodies Mirror (Baby Product)
My granddaughter loves this mirror, her parents do also. The settings are great- different volume settings, up to 60 minutes of play time, with different musical settings.

The attachment for setting up in the car is horrible!!!!!! It does not work with medium to large headrests, or in the middle seat, which is where we prefer to have the baby travel. Why would they make the mirror with such a limited set up??? The attached straps only work in the crib for us.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke in 3 different places, August 8, 2010

This thing is a total waste of money. The clip to attach to the head rest broke while I was trying to clip it into the car. I tied a not and rigged it fine. Music played for about 10-15 car trips maybe then stopped working, just playing a note or two then stopping. I tried changing the batteries but that didn't help, it sounded more like there was an electrical short. I kept it up though thinking maybe my son would at least like to look at it still. When I was getting him out of his seat one day, I noticed that 2 of the little circle disks that make up the caterpillar's body had fallen off into his seat....TOTAL CHOKING HAZARD!!! I am so angry about this. I can handle it just being another cheaply constructed toy (way too common) however I can't handle it being a hazard to my child!! It's in the trash right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for tummy time, October 26, 2011

I'm very happy with this mirror for my 2 month old. I originally bought it to hang next to the changing table for some distraction during diaper changes. We had trouble hanging it at the correct angle, so we ended up putting it in his crib. Turns out that is the perfect place for him to get the most from it. We use it when he just wants to hang out and he loves it. It's also been great for tummy time. We prop him on the small boppy and it motivates him to look up. There's something about the melodies on the Baby Einstein products that really interest him.

As far as installation is concerned, I found it much easier to install it on the side of the crib, than some other similar items I've purchased (and returned) for this purpose. If you are wanting this for the car, it is marketed for baby's entertainment only. It doesn't say anything about being used to see your baby while driving, which is probably why there are so many negative reviews on it for this purpose. The clip is actually quite effective at hanging it from the headrest for your child can see him or her self.

I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good mirror for your baby to interact with and to be further entertained by the lights, colors and music. I only wish that it had a remote. That would make me want to use it in the car too. For now it's in the crib.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wish I did Not Buy This, July 15, 2011
This review is from: Baby Einstein Lights & Melodies Mirror (Baby Product)
This was a waste of money. VERY VERY poor design. I purchased it for my 2 month old daughter who hates being in the car. It was IMPOSSIBLE to install on the head rest so that she could see herself and I could see her. The straps are not adjustable and are not long enough to fasten to the head rest (or under the head rest, or any way at all). I had to buy mini bungi cords so I could strap it to the head rest and then I had to wedge something behind the mirror so that it was in the proper position. Its difficult to figure out how to get the music and lights to work properly. Also, the color of the lights (red and blue) is a pretty stupid choice of colors for a car. Having blue and red lights flashing in the back of the car is quite distracting. What color are lights of emergency vehicles? Red and blue. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars great for baby...but bad for seeing the baby, April 10, 2011
This review is from: Baby Einstein Lights & Melodies Mirror (Baby Product)
I purchased this mirror becasue my son loves his Baby Einstein Baby Take-Along Tunes Infant Toy that we hung on his carseat, but we wanted something that would play continuous music. This is great because you can turn the dial and set it to play for 10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes. My son is 6 1/2 months old and he LOVES everything about it: mirror, music and lights!

I'm only giving it 4 stars because (1) the strap wont fit around the headrest (2) we cant seem to position it in a way so that we can see the baby in our rearview mirror.

Great for entertaining my son, I just wish i could see him.

1.0 out of 5 stars Timer does not work..., March 1, 2011
This review is from: Baby Einstein Lights & Melodies Mirror (Baby Product)
As other reviewers has said, the timer does not do what it says. I've tried setting it at 10 and 20 minutes pushing the power button on and it does the same thing: runs through one spiel of talk, the lights do their thing, plays a song, and then turns off. It barely lasted TWO minutes both times!

If it didn't HAVE this functionality, I would have accepted it but it doesn't function properly so I'm going to have to rate it 1 star. For ~$30, I wish it had a remote...esp. since the timer doesn't work. I'm returning it. I'm glad it has batteries inside so you can do the test yourself. Keep the receipt, you may need it.
