Baby Einstein makes Baby Geniuses,
By
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mirror Me! (Board book)
I was a bit skeptical when I received my first Baby einstein video while I was pregnant. I couldn't imagine any baby interested in videos yet and thought the company was playing to parents with the implications in their name. I now know better. I have become a true fan and supporter of all Baby Einstein products. This is the first board book I purchased from them and my daughter adores it. I already read to my daughter every day. She enjoyed listening to me but rarely took interest in the actual illustrations in books. This book has changed all that. On one side are bright pictures and the other a mirror. Although the text is quite simple my daughter adores the illustrations and of course looking at herself. She's a vain one already! It might be a lil too simple for older children but perfect since my daughter was 2 months old. I usually add text while I'm reading to lenghten the time spent on each page. I am delighted she's actually taken an interest in the actual book I'm reading and not just my voice. Baby Einstein promotes healthy development and learning in children so I now promote Baby Einstein.

A clear favorite with infants!,
By
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mirror Me! (Board book)
My son is 4-1/2 months old; this book has been his clear favorite since he was about a month old. The bold, bright graphics were enough to hold his attention even at a very young age, and now he enjoys the colors, facial expressions of the characters, and of course looking at himself in the mirrors.
As another reviewer mentioned, the mirrors are not particularly clear, but it's never dampened my son's enjoyment of this book. The main characters are all basic colors, which is an opportunity to teach color concepts to your child. My son has also started to imitate the facial expressions of the characters, such as sticking out his tongue. I highly recommend this book for all parents of infants; it's engaging and offers lots of opportunities to interact with your child.

Great Baby Book,

Low-quality mirrors? Come on, it's a board book! These mirrors are good enough for my eight-month-old (of course, so is the dishwasher front). She's LOVED this book since she was about 4 months old and claps whenever I pull it out. Buy it!

Mirror me a horrible mirror,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mirror Me! (Board book)
I am normally a big fan of the Baby Einstein products. My daughter loves the friendly animal graphics that accompany the series. When checking out the book, it seemed to have a great concept, especially since my daughter loves to mimic things. When we received the book today, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of the "mirror". There is a "mirror" on the cover and on each page of the book. The "mirror" severely distorts any image due to the way it is made and laid out on the page. It in no way presents an image like a true mirror. I do not know how a child would be able to decipher her own image making the suggested faces in the so-called "mirror". It might frighten her more than anything else. Thumbs down on "Mirror Me" for us. It's going back.

best baby book,

My son who is 10 months has loved this book since he got it at 4 months. He smiles and laughs every time. I can watch his reaction to the pictures by angling the mirror just right. Sometimes he gets a glimpse of mom watching him and finds that funny too.

Fun for far beyond the age recommendations!,
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mirror Me! (Board book)
My daughter noticed the spine of this book at a thrift store and knew right away it was a Baby Einstein book. She is completely taken with anything Baby Einstein, although I am more of a sceptic, and sort of leary of the whole "super-baby" culture I think it promotes. However, this book is just plain fun. It has a little mirror on every page, with suggestions about funny faces that characters are making and that you can try to make too. It seemed odd that it was said to be meant for age 0-9 months. I think 9 months is about the age when you really get started with enjoying books, although I know that is not the politically correct way to think right now! Mirrors are fun for all ages, and 2 is a great age to talk about facial expressions and feelings by using the mirrors. I thought the mirrors were well made and the book in general well designed.

Great book for interaction!,

Someone gave me this book as a shower gift. When my daughter was a few months old, I started dutifully reading to her every day. This book quickly became one of MY favorites because it's not as painfully dull to read as a lot of books for babies. Since at 4-5 months, she was still pretty much a blob, I'd at least entertain myself by doing all the expressions the characters make. Finally, she started expecting them, so when we'd get to the cow, she'd turn to me, so I could 'puff and blow' and make her giggle. Progress!
When she got a little older and could pick out books herself, she consistently picked this one to read. So we probably read it a few times a days for several months. We had to get a 2nd copy because she destroyed the 1st one by "reading" it so often. As with a lot of baby toys, it got buried, pushed to the side for a while. When she was about 14 months old, we were reading another book that had Jane the monkey in it (Jane's Animal Expedition - another great book) and Claire looked at Jane and made the 'super silly face' I had made for months with this book. I quickly pulled this book back out and she made all the faces that I had done for her months before that she hadn't seen in 2-3 months. Wow - my first lesson in how much kids are absorbing and remembering when you have no idea that they are. Now, whenever she sees a monkey, hears the word monkey or the name Jane, she makes her super silly face. It's quite a fun party trick.

Definately a keeper in any child's library,

My son got this book as a present before he was born. I was determined to start reading it to him as soon as I could and I have been reading it to him for 9 months now. He really enjoys looking at the colorful illustrations and the mirrors on the opposite page. He now reaches out and turns each page when he is ready. And he also knows to expect me to blow into his hair when the cow page comes...since cow goes "puff and blow". He even looks at me when he sees the cow and smiles.
I have had this book memorized for awhile now, but that isn't such a bad thing....since I can now look at my son while we read and see what he is thinking. So far, he has really enjoyed this book and even though the cover says ages birth to 9 months, I think we will enjoy this one a bit longer. Definately an easy read for any parent and lots to look at and engage any baby or child.

Vibrant Pictures, Good for Babies,
By
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mirror Me! (Board book)
As with all Baby Einstein books, this one has incredibly colorful and vibrant pictures. A few other reviewers commented on the quality of the mirrors, they are thin reflective film with a 'fun house' effect, but the 0-9 month age group really isn't going to care. Each page features simple text for younger ones with a mirror. The back of the book has 3 tips and ideas for parents. The best way to encourage your child to read is to have books in the home.

Watch your baby delight in looking back at themselves through this book. It's so cute. My 19 month old daughter has liked it from 3 months old. Hold it right up to their face and watch their little faces light up. She still likes it now and looks around the book to see if she's there. Lot's of fun. A great present to give at baby showers.
