Baby loved it...until it broke.,

This review is from: Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Jumper, Green (Baby Product)
If you're a parent who bought this and the piano/music box insert is broken, call Kids 2 at 1-800-230-8190 and ask for a replacement. Apparently this part has broken so many times that they don't ask any questions. It is also so common that the part is on backorder, so you will want to call them right away. See the rest of my review for more details, but I wanted to save some unfortunate parent some precious time so I put this at the top.
My 4-month-old loved this from the first moment she sat in it. She could spend an hour in it easily. She especially liked banging on the piano/music box insert. Unfortunately, this was short lived as the piano/music box stopped working after only 2 weeks. We replaced the batteries, but the box never worked again. I did some research online and discovered that other parents had complained about the same problem. They had suggested calling the manufacturer for a replacement, but no one had the number. After a few calls around, I finally contacted Kids 2 and they offered to ship a replacement out in a month. Six weeks later, I called to check on it and was told that "things are often delayed from China and this is on back order". When I asked how long it would be I was told maybe another 4 to 6 weeks. Thats a total of over three months to get a replacement part from the manufacturer. Thats IF they actually deliver this time. I'm not holding my breath. I won't be buying any Kids 2 products again any time soon. Without the piano unit, there are really only 2 sections of the exerciser left to entertain the baby. She enjoys chewing on the sunflower, but that section has no other toys, so the other 2 inserts get most of her attention. Thankfully, the bouncer also has loops to attach other toys. If it weren't for the fact that we could attach other toys, she would have really missed that piano. In summation, I would have given this product five stars if it weren't for that piano. My daughter loved it. She still likes playing in the Jumper and we use it every day. I took one star away for an obviously defective piece of equipment. I took another star away for the ridiculously long time it is going to take for the replacement to arrive. If you're one of the lucky parents that didn't get a defective music insert, then I'll bet you'll love this product. UPDATE - August 1, 2008 So I got the replacement for the piano insert and, as I thought, it broke about 2 weeks after we received it. I called Baby Einstein customer support (1-800-793-1454 Prompt #5) and they were fantastic. They contacted Kids 2 for me and requested a refund for the full price of the toy. Kids 2 called me and were very apologetic and accommodating. They are sending out a refund check as well as another replacement piano insert. My daughter still loves the toy and uses the piano every day (when it works). I wanted to let you all know that the customer support with Baby Einstein is amazing. If you do get a broken bouncer, you will get great support from the Baby Einstein support staff (Mary and Donna).

I can't say enough about this jumper. We have a VERY active little boy and with this jumper, he met his match. We started him in this at 4 months old. He liked it but didn't do much in it but play with the toys for the first couple of weeks and then all of a sudden, he was bouncing like crazy. He could seriously spend an hour in this while I emptied the dishwasher, fixed his food etc... He's 7 and a half months now and he still loves it. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish I could swap the toys out with new ones (the Evenflow has this option but doesn't bounce like this one) Also, the piano stopped working on this after a couple of months.
Regardless, he loves this more than any other jumper we've purchased (three so far).

My son currently has the Rainforest Jumperoo and he loved it so much I thought I would get him another jumper to keep at his daycare for him.
I really likes the looks and activities that the Baby Einstien jumper ha and since it was a little bit different with activities and sort, I bought one. I have to say right away, this jumper is extremely tight as far as jumping is concerened. The springs are very stiff and when my son tried to jump, it barely moved. He is 8 months old and quite strong. He got tired of this jumper very quickly and wanted to go back to his Rainforest Jumperoo. And once I put him in his other jumper, he was as happy as a lark! Jumping away like mad. Now the good point is that it folds up more easily and compact than the Rainforest Jumperoo and it doesnt unfold when tring to move it place to place. Thats a plus! But as far as the jumping goes, no way! het the Rainforest Jumperoo, that is so much better!!!!! I already got rid of the Baby Einstien Jumper!! Thumbs down!

Bought this the jumper...with the understanding that the keyboard could be a problem after reading some reviews. Well the keyboard broke right way. I called Kids 2 and they said they were having problems with the keyboards and that the replacement would take around 6 weeks to arrive. I guess they are backordered due to weak keyboard design. The jumper isn't much without the keyboard. After a couple of weeks I called Baby Einstein and they said they would contact Kid 2 for me...I got a call back from Kids 2. Same story 4 to 6 weeks. I then called back Baby Einstein to ask why they couldn't just take a part from an existing unti and ship it to me or better yet, take this unit back and send me another that works. They said they would get back to me.
Not very good customer service on a product that they know has issues. Stay away from this item until they get the keyboard problem fixed.

Its okay, my daughter perfers the FP Jumperoo,

I registered for the baby Einstein jumper because in store it seemed sturdier and a better value than the Fisher Price jumperoo. I have this one at home and for my moms, I got a second hand Fisher Price jumperoo (the one with the monkey seat). My 6 month old definitely rathers the one at my moms. The music plays by motion or touch, with the baby einstein one, you have the touch, pretty hard, the piano key in the right spot. The FP also bounces alot more and she can reach the ground better (both are set on lowest setting and she is about 26" long right now). The FP is also alot lighter and easier to move around. The baby einstein is pretty heavy and can't even fit through doorways in my house other than the front door.

We just got this jumper for my son a few weeks ago and he is having a blast. We also got him the Baby Einstein Activity Center and he likes that too, but he loves that jumper more. When we bought this, my son was 5 months old and 95th percentile for height and we had it set on the lowest setting and he fit perfectly. It took him a week or so to learn that he could really jump in it, but now he can't stop. The seat is a little big, but he doesn't seem to mind. As soon as we put him in it he jumps his little heart out and giggles the whole time. He has so much fun jumping he really doesn't pay much to attention to the toys. I really like the keyboard. It plays fun music that isn't annoying like other baby toys. It isn't too loud either. I also like the toy hooks. We attached the Baby Einstein bendy ball on one and a teether on the other. I also got more Baby Einstein Links to attach to the 6 overhead hooks, the jumper only came with 7. We went into a store and checked out the Fisher Price jumperoos first and they felt wobbly and not sturdy. The FP jumperoo toys were fine, but I could imagine the noises and music getting very annoying after a while.

Stupid Keyboard,

This review is from: Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Jumper, Green (Baby Product)
After looking around at many different jumpers, I liked the features best on this one. When it arrived, it was easy to put together. I was excited. Well, it went downhill from there! I had read about the keyboard problems, but since most were from 2008 I thought that surely the problem had been fixed...WRONG! My son used this for 2 days about 5-10 minutes each time and the keyboard no longer works. I am extremely upset. Also, it says that it comes with 10 connector rings....NOPE...I only received 7. And finally in the picture on the right side is a caterpillar with buttons to push and turn. I did not get that on mine, I got two little rings to hang toys on. Very disappointed and will be returning to buy another product. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! GET SOMETHING ELSE.

Potentially unsafe plastic!,

When my baby started chewing on the teether toys that are part of this jumper (the yellow sun and the bead chaser) I wrote to the company to make sure these toys don't contain BPA and other harmful chemicals. I could not get a straight yes or no answer from Kids II who actually manufacture this product. All I got is that "the materials in our products meet global phthalate and BPA requirements", a remarkable statement given that, to the best of my knowledge, there are no such global requirements (every country has their own widely varying safety standards, and the US regulations in particular are ridiculously out of date with the current research that suggests that even small amounts of BPA are harmful). This leads me to believe that the plastic is indeed unsafe. The company has lost my trust -- I will no longer buy any Baby Einstein products.

defective piece...my daughter got it off and had it in her mouth,

We bought this jumper two weeks ago. My six month old daughter LOVES it. However, yesterday my husband called me and said, "she got that purple thing off and had it in her mouth." Of course I contacted baby einstine as the toy hook is a very small piece and is a choking hazard. They put me in touch with Kids II Corporation. I told the woman what happened, she said it was a mis-mold on the piece and she knows that because they have been getting a LOT of calls about this piece coming off. She asked if I wanted a replacement part. Of course I said NO!!! She asked why I was calling if I didn't want a replacement part. I explained to her that it was a choking hazard and they needed to do something about it as a child could die from the defective piece. She then stopped me and said the toy hook was NOT defective, it was just mis-molded. (Ummm...isn't that defective?) And she also informed me it wasn't a choking hazard, there was the possibility that a child could get it lodged in his/her throat, but it isn't a choking hazard. (Ummm...isn't choking on a toy usually done when it gets lodged in their throat?) She then informed me that she was not going to write a report up since I didn't want a replacement piece (can you say covering something up!). I requested her name and extention. She said there was no way to contact specifically her. I requested a copy of our phone conversation as she said it was being recorded. She said there was no way to get a copy of it. I demanded to speak to a manager who took my information down and said she would forward it to the engineering department.
This peice is a choking hazard and is dangerous!!! Do not purchase it!!!

Glorified ExerSaucer,

I went looking for the Rainforest Jumparoo and settled for this one as the other was out of stock. My 6-month old had previously "test-driven" the Jumparoo and she fell in love with it in about 2 minutes. I decided this was a good option given that it was both an activity center and a jumper. Sadly, I was wrong. It is an activity center for sure but is a poor excuse for a jumper.
It took a fair amount of work to put it together (much more than the Rainforest Jumparoo I ended up finding later) and the springs are so tight that she can't jump at all! I think the placement of them might also make it difficult because they end up being more horizontal than vertical. On the plus side it's got a lot of great toys and loops for you to hang other toys although the battery-operated piano only worked for the first day even with two fresh from the store sets of batteries. It will be going back. |
