Great toy,
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Activity Toy (Baby Product)
I love the Einstein toys and this is no exception. My daughter is 6 months old and likes to listen to the music, look into the mirror, and chew on the fins. The only problem I have is that it is a little heavy for her to pick up yet. But as you can see in the picture I submitted, she likes playing with it on level ground just fine.

This toy is a favorite of my 10 month old. He likes the crinckle fin and the mirror. He also loves the music, which calms him down when he is crying. The music is soothing and doesn't grate on our nerves even though we've heard it many times.
My only complaints are that there are just two short tunes that play alternatively and you have to press his belly fairly hard each time you want one to play. It would be nice if there was a setting to have them play a few or more times. There are pictures with words on one fin that are useless and there to fit the Einstein theme. All in all, a good product that I would buy again. By the way, the thing he is wearing on his head is a diving mask and a snorkle.

I was actually surprised how big this toy was when it came and didn't think my baby would like it since it was so large and he couldn't hold it. Before he even turned four months old he started holding it and chewing it and enjoying it. Great baby einstein song, crackly sounds, good fish to gnaw on, and he especially likes the mirror. Great toy.

My 6 mo daughter likes but is not in love with her Neptune activity toy. I bought it because I thought it looked like she would be interested in playing with it a lot before becoming board of it. ALthough she will play with it ... shortly after is completly over it and moves on to something else. As a side note it also kinda heavuy in the center where the battery compartment and water filled tummy of it is. Positive... the music it plays is great, it has a few different tunes and is not annyoing.

This is one of the first toys my newborn son became interested in. He likes the music, (which is very appealing and not annoying) and loves the mirror on the bottom fin. I believe it is one he will stay interested in for quite some time to come, once he is a little older and can take advantage of some of the other features.

What Music?,

This toy was given to my 8 month old when she was born, she has loved it but we could never get the music to work no matter what we did, until I read the reviews on this toy. I had thrown away the box so I wasn't even sure what it was supposed to do and switching batteries did not work. I read the reviews and decided to try new batteries again and press the tummy really hard... all of a sudden it is working. So thanks for the reviews it really bugged me that it didn't work and now I know my daughter will love this toy even more than she already does.

twins fight over toy,

my 5 month old twin girls fight over this toy, they LOVE IT. When i put it in front of them, they shake their hands, suck in their breath and eyes get wide and excited. They LOVe the music, it is the only thing at times that keeps a melt down at bay. We don't go anywhere without "tortuga". They love the mirror, crinkly uh... flipper and chew on the teether flipper as well as suck on the snorkel like their lives depend on it (does a turtle really need a snorkel?) The music calms them instantly and plays two short tunes that is not at all annoying. My only gripe is that there should be a switch to make the music play continuously. We are constantly squeezing the poor guy's tummy. Two thumbs up.

Grandma was delighted to give this to our little boy for Christmas when he was 3 months old. He fell in love with it and "Neptune" is the go-to toy to get his attention. I've seen him closely examine the crinkly parts, play with the little plastic beads. More recently he's started teething at 7 months and chews on the soft plastic yellow fish. He loves it.
Unfortunately, I'm here because I have to buy another one and its the primary reason that it isn't getting 5 stars. Five months after he has gotten it, Neptune died and the music doesn't play anymore (yes, I changed the batteries AND correctly). The music started becoming distorted, so I knew this day was coming. The other downside is that you can't put it in the washing machine and the center part that plays the music is hard to push to make it play. His attention should be spread out to other things and he is getting along just fine without it, Neptune however makes him light up so I plan to buy another one.

Safety Issue,
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Activity Toy (Baby Product)
I am the parent of twin boys who have enjoyed Baby Einstein's fun and educational DVDs and toys.
As infants, the boys greatly enjoyed their Baby Einstein Neptune Activity Toy for a number of months. One day I noticed that the border around the mirror had started to separate from the mirror itself, causing an extremely sharp edge to be exposed. I immediately removed this toy from the boys' toy collection due to severe concern about the extremely sharp edges very badly cutting little fingers and/or mouths or lips. I am greatly disappointed in my experience with one of Baby Einstein's typically well-trusted toys for play, enjoyment, and educational purposes. I felt that it was very important to let other parents know about this safety concern regarding the toy. I might also emphasize that the toy was subjected to completely normal use, no type of abuse or misuse. |
