4.0 out of 5 stars A winner with baby and big sister

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool idea, but.....
I loved the concept of this toy, but when I got it home I relized that it hung right where I carry my baby. When I carry the baby in the infant carrier, I hook my arm under the bar and carry it in the crook of my arm, and this toy kept me from being able to get my arm there comfortably. Now if you just carry it around with your hand, this is a great toy. But for me it...

When I first brought this home, my almost 3-year-old daughter was attracted to it like a magnet. I think she recognized the tunes from her Baby Eienstein DVDs. She was so enthralled with it that she took it to bed with her that night!

When I was finally able to get it back and give it to the baby, who is 6 months old, she liked it a lot too. She likes the music but also looking at the water part and batting at the fish that dangle down. I've actually been using it in the high chair as a diversion while I get her bottle or food ready. I've also attached it to the side of her crib occassionally and she really likes it there.

I do agree that with other reviewers that it could attach to the infant carrier seats in a better way -- it sits too high up on the handle so that the baby is looking at it from the wrong angle. I ended up attaching it to a different toy bar that suspends in an arch over the right part of the seat and it works great that way.

I have not experienced any issues with leakage (mentioned in another review).

4.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!, September 21, 2004
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
My daughter first saw this a couple months ago at babies r us while we were shopping. She immediately fell in love with it! The music is not loud or obnoxious in any way. She loves to watch the turtle and dolphin bob inside the toy and play with the toys dangling at the bottom.
I was hesitant to get this because I would soon be taking her out of the infant seat and she would be sitting upright. But now I just give it to her to play with on her lap while we are in the car and she still enjoys it.
The only reason I didnt give this 5 stars is because I wish there were a better way to make this toy "grow" with my baby. But she still has a blast with it.
A great toy for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Safety tip: Don't attach toy bars to car seats, March 16, 2006
By
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
Those who complain this toy doesn't fit well onto a car seat - it shouldn't be there in the first place, at least not while your child is in a car. Also, it says in car seat manuals that the car seat handle has to be all the way in the down position. Think about it, and it makes sense.

So the problem is not with the toy bar, but with the incorrect way it is being used.

4.0 out of 5 stars I am surprised by some people..., August 28, 2005
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
First of all, I am truly astonished at the number of reviewers who were making comments about the toy bar potentially injuring an infant if in a car accident...which I am in no way denying, however...the alarming fact remains that parents are actually leaving the infant carrier/car seat bar up at all while driving. I thought it was common knowledge that this, in of itself, is a very real danger to a baby if one was to get into a collision. This toy would be perfectly safe if not used while dangerously propping the handle up while the car is in motion. I suppose I was just being a bit pressumptuous to assume most people knew not to do this, but apparently this isn't the case. So, with that said, I do not believe that this toy is a danger on it's own merrits, as far as injuring a child while in the car. It is the bar/handle being propped up at all, and I think more people should take heed of this piece of advice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toybar!, May 6, 2006

This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
I received this as a baby shower gift and attached it to my son's carrier/carseat when he was about 1 month old and it has not come off since! He is not almost 6 months and still loves it. It does tend to get in the way a little when I am putting him in his seat or taking him out, but with I am okay with that because it keeps him so happy. When he was about 6 weeks old he decided that he hated his carseat. That's when I put this on it and ever since he has loved it. He used to love the music (because he was too little to do much with the toys). But now he will spend forever playing with the little fish and star sliding them back and forth. We still play the music occasionally when he gets fussy.

I love this and would reccomend it to everyone. In fact, three other new moms I know with babies under 6 months of age have gone and purchased this after seeing how much my son loves it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!!!, December 23, 2004

We saw this at Babies-r-us and fell in love with it, the music was perfect to calm a fussy baby BUT within a month all the water was gone. I never saw it leak but now empty all the characters are stuck together in the corner of the toy. My son will listen to the music but does not look at the toy any more. Highly disappointed in the product!

1.0 out of 5 stars Just an 'okay' toy, June 7, 2007
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
I am changing my review, but am unable to change the star rating. I give it a '3' star rating now.

Be aware if you don't know already: You're not supposed to have any toys attached to the car seat in case of an accident, they become a projectile or at minimum hit the baby's head in an impact. A fireman inspecting the car seat told us this.

-You run a serious risk of hitting the baby's head when you put the baby in the car seat, or when you're taking them out of the car seat.

-I originally said the batteries were too expensive. In some stores they are - up to $9 for a set of 4. I found 4 replacement 'LR44' batteries for $1 at a craft store, of all places. So that is affordable.

-It's quite difficult to put these button-cell batteries back in. It took a few tries.

-I never used this toy in the car. I attached it to a horizontal bar in my house and my son played with it there.

Not a perfect toy - but I 'made it work' elsewhere, other than the car.
I definitely wouldn't buy it again if it broke, nor would I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good attention getter for awhile..., April 24, 2006
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
I bought this for my daughter when she was about 6 wks to entertain her while riding in the car. She was intrigued by it immediately. She's 4 months now & I still use it. The music seems to calm her down sometimes when nothing else would work. I think she may be getting bored with it now so I just bought another hanging Baby Einstein product.
One thing I didn't like was how it attached to the car seat handle. As another reviewer stated, it's in the way when putting a baby in or out of the seat & seems to hang in an awkward position.

2.0 out of 5 stars Leaks!, March 2, 2005
By
Mads (Oceanside, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Carrier Toy Bar (Toy)
My son loved this toy on his carrier. But, one week after we attached it to the car seat, it started leaking! I was so disappointed because my son really like the music, and especially pushing the beads back and fourth, and making them rattle.

I also found myself constantly attaching it and removing it to be able to get him in and out of the carrier. While it was at a fine height with the carrier handle raised, it hit him in the face when the handle was moved back so that he could be put in or taken out of the seat.

A really disappointing product from Baby Einstein. We love and own many of their other items.
