Don't waste your money!,
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Numbers and Shapes Discovery Cards (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Cards)
We own all of the other Baby Einstein cards but these are terrible! We were so very disapointed with the quality of the pictures on these cards that if we could have returned them we would have. The other cards sets are a great quality, this set of cards is simply a plug for other Baby Einstein products. Please think twice before purchasing these.

Baby Einstein: Numbers and Shapes Discovery Cards,

I would not recommend these cards. They are too abstract and very confusing for young children. Some cards you do not even know whether you are reviewing colors, shapes or numbers. If I had seen them before I would never have purchased them!

I have purchased two other sets of the Baby Einstein flash cards and this is the first set where the writing on the back is upside down. It is very disappointing because the cards are on high quality stock and are very vibrant. These cards could have easily been a 5 star rating but either the company cut the QA person or s/he was gone the day the proofs went out.

Love them!,
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Numbers and Shapes Discovery Cards (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Cards)
I knew nothing of these cards until my son's godparents gave them to him at 18 months. He loves them and has from day one.
The pictures are simple and wonderful. More importantly, they capture his attention. This is the only set we own, so I cannot compare them to the others. Some cards introduce a single concept (eg. a specific shape). Others incoporate more than one (eg. shapes, colors, and counting on a single card), but in simple, not confusing ways. I find it to be a wonderful bonus. It's great to hear my son name a red, a blue, and a yellow triangle, and then count three white circles, all on one card! The back of each card specifies the main concept that card is introducing. There are also teaching tips. The writing on the backs is indeed upside-down, but we never use the back anyway. They are so versatile, we just haven't needed to yet. The cards are sturdy. For nearly a year they have been strewn and carried about the house more times than I can count, hidden in the couch and other places, and constantly pulled from, and put back into the box, and much, much more. All this, with nothing more than a couple of minor creases. Thanks, in part, to this set, our son could recognize and name seven basic shapes before he was two. We rarely use a "sit him down and teach him method" of learning. We just incorportate learning into everyday life. These cards work wonderfully either way. They are a great addition to our home, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

These flash card have more to them than I expected. I love the variety of the images and symbols. The best surprise is the teaching suggestions on the back of the cards. They provide multiple ideas on how to use each card to teach colors, counting, and many other things I didn't initially think of! I am looking forward to my daughter to use these more. At this point (12 months) she just likes to look at the cards, but I know that later they will be very helpful to teach at home.

The pictures are a disappointment. The pictures do not hold my sons interest. He does however, enjoy putting them back in the box when I take them out. I wouldn't recommnend them at all.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves them. Her speech therapist uses them plus the animal ones. The numbers and shapes cards are great and encourage the parent and the child to find the colors, numbers AND shapes found in each picture. These cards are great for practicing words and speech for kids who may be a bit behind. The kids also love them because they are nice and big.

My daughter loves them...She loves the feel and the animals but I wish it was more than 1-10...They really should go up to 20 at least.

The images on the card are too busy. Babies can't focus on one object. My son ends up chewing on them instead. So I bought the DK Publishing flash cards, which are very simple. Now my son actually looks at the objects on the card and points at it with his finger.
