5.0 out of 5 stars We call him "Mr. Octopus"
We call him Mr. Octopus or Old Blue:) We bought this toy for our daughter when she was just 3 months old, and she has loved it from the instant we showed it to her. She's now 8 months and continues to love this toy. Her whole face lights up when we get him out, or show him to her. She really likes the music and water sounds. 1.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to like it but...
I love the ocean and was excited to get an ocean themed toy for my baby. However... no wonder kids these days have ADD! The music/sounds are soooo freaking short! The ocean/bubbles sound lasts ONLY 1 second, then there are 2 songs that lasts ONLY 10 seconds each. You pull, hear the bubbles sound, pull again for song #1, pull again for the bubbles, then pull again for...

She likes to chew on the crinkly legs, or the little rings and chewie that he has attached to him. He's soft and washes off easily. It's a good sized toy also, she can hang on to him and he's not too heavy or awkward. I would buy him again in a heartbeat!

I timed the sounds.

I would have returned it had I not torn off the packaging in my haste and excitement. Toy looks cute but dang... it was made for kids with super short attention spans!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, November 29, 2010
This review is from: Baby Einstein Octopus Hanging Toy, Blue (Baby Product)
We introduced Mr. Octopus (we call him that too!) to our son around 3 months and he just loved this toy. He couldn't grab yet but we would crinkle the tentacles and play the music for him. Now that he is 6 months, we can't go anywhere without this toy! He can now grab the tentacles and crinkle and chew on them as much as he wants. He chews on all the rings and snuggles with it in his car seat and the music does (most of the time) stop the bored tears. So far, I've just been spot cleaning it but does anyone know if there's a more thorough way to clean the whole body? He gets dropped/thrown on various floors a lot (restaurants) so I take it into the bathroom and dab it with paper towels but I'd just like a more thorough cleaning when we get home. It's soft, no hard edges and I feel safe letting him play with it while I do something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son's long-standing favorite car toy, August 7, 2010

This toy has saved the day on long car trips. My son adored this thing at the age of 4 months, when we got it. He's seven months old now, and this is still his favorite car toy. The octopus's face is so friendly that he can stare and talk to it for an unbelievably long time. He loves to grip the legs and rings, and the music is a never-fail way to stop tears and bring a smile to his face. This is a really great toy.

My 3 month old loves this. Between all the crinkles and pulling the purple thing for the music, it's great. I thought it was too big but he is fascinated! I bought the 1st one at toys r us which stays on his car seat, but now i've ordered a 2nd one from amazon for home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Musical Pull Toy for Baby!, September 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baby Einstein Octopus Hanging Toy, Blue (Baby Product)
I ordered this for my 5 month old son because he loves toys that play music, and the musical pull toy that came with his activity playmat wouldn't work anymore with dead batteries that couldn't be replaced. I found out there aren't too many musical pull toys on the market, mainly just jittery pull toys that shake when the baby pulls down. This octopus is wonderful! The blue color is bright so it keeps his attention. The purple pull handle is very easy for my 5 month old to grab and pull down on, and when pulled it alternates between playing a short, upbeat song and making bubbly underwater sounds. Every time he pulls it and the music starts to play, he laughs and kicks like he is so excited. Each tentacle on the octopus has a picture of an ocean creature whose name is written in English, Spanish, and French. Also, the ends of each tentacle are knotted and my son really enjoys chewing on them. The only complaint I have is that the fabric loop around the plastic piece on the top of the octopus came undone so now I can't hang it from anything. But this toy is so great that I plan on mending it myself and hopefully it will be good-as-new!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome toy, September 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baby Einstein Octopus Hanging Toy, Blue (Baby Product)
I first discovered this toy with my 5 month grandson at a local children's store- he loved it- the arm crinkle and the middle ring when pulled slightly (he does it very well) plays music or makes ocean sounds. I came home and looked it up on Amazon and they had a much much better price- and when it was shipped to me the toy came wrapped in plastic- I was concerned about the one in the store because it was not.

Hands down-it is one of his favorite toys. We went to get pictures made and viola- the photographer had one of these same toys- we were able to get lots of smiling baby pictures I think,in no small part, due to this amazing toy. Would recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute & appropriate for boys!, August 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baby Einstein Octopus Hanging Toy, Blue (Baby Product)
I bought this toy for my sister who is expecting a boy ~ she's had the hardest time finding boy toys for the stroller/car seat! I used this toy as a topper for the 'diaper cake' I made her for her baby shower, and it was a hit. My daughter, who is 9 months old, just LOVED this toy (so much so that we had to get her her own octopus to replace my sister's!) It has a darling face, the tentacles are crinkly (my baby's favorite!) and with all the different things to pull, it's a challenge (in a good way) for the little one to start the music. The music is really cute - kind of nautical - and has lasted 3 months being played every day. It's still going strong!

The ONLY downside to this toy is that it is a little big for the infant car seat. Still, one of the best toys I've bought for my daughter (and future nephew!)

2.0 out of 5 stars The Octoplush is a much better buy, April 28, 2011
By
D.J. (Miami, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Einstein Octopus Hanging Toy, Blue (Baby Product)
I have the Octoplush and this hanging Octopus that I bought because I thought it would be similar to the Octoplush but able to go along for stroller rides. It is almost identical in concept, but the differences make this product a huge letdown. The legs are not fun to press and you have to pull the string to make music rather than pressing the head, which my daughter knows to do. I think this product was a blend of the Octoplush and Baby Einstein's answer to the Lamaze toy "Captain Calamari," but they made him more like CC than Octoplush. You'd be better off figuring out a way to attach the Octoplush to a stroller/carrier and take it along.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for little ones learning to grasp!, February 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baby Einstein Octopus Hanging Toy, Blue (Baby Product)
Our twins are 4 months old and have started zeroing in on things and grasping intentially. The octopus immediately caught their attention and the multiple arms and dangles ensure they'll grab on to something. the pull ring for the sound/music has perfect tension/response for our babies - it's not so hard that we have to pull it for them and it's not so soft that it goes off at a touch. The sound/music is not as piercing and annoying has some other musical toys. Not as nice sounding as the "Take Along Tunes" but definately bearable. Some toys are so horrible sounding i fear they'll make our children tone deaf! I definately recommend this one.
