5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to read and play with at bath time!
I'm a fan of squooshy bathtub books because my little ones, close in age, love to bath together and "read" to each other while we lather up. This book is not only cute and colorful, but the story is lively and easy for little toddlers to love. I recommend this and all the other Einstein Bath books for your wee ones! This book is not only cute and colorful, but the story is lively and easy for little toddlers to love. I recommend this and all the other Einstein Bath books for your wee ones! They are just the right size for little hands, float perfectly on top of the bath bubbles, and hold up well to twists and tugs in the tub. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Our Daughter's Favorite book, February 12, 2007
By
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mimi's Toes: A Splash and Giggle Bath Book (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Bath Book)
I originally purchased this book for our daughter when she was only 9 months. We never used it in the bath, because she loves to listen to it at bedtime. Everytime I would read it, I would act out the "see mama wash mimi from her feet to her nose and then come back and tickle mimi's toes". Every page my daughter laughed. She is now 18 months and it has been one of the most consistently requested books in her collection (she has TONS of books). [As a side note about PVC, how many of us had vinyl books when we were younger and didn't get sick from them? And, I'm the one who handles the book and turns the pages most of the time. I think the post about the PVC is alarmist, but glad to see that the publisher is considering phasing out the material since it has questionable safety issues.] All in all - PVC or non-PVC - I highly recommend this book for your young ones.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Note About PVC..., December 26, 2006

There was another reviewer who was rather alarmist about the use of PVC in this bath book, so I thought I should clear it up. The use of exterior PVC for the cover of this (and other) Baby Einstein books is controversial because studies have been shown that it can be toxic to some animals including rats. There has been little scientific evidence that it is harmful to humans but some are moving for a ban on PVC in children's toys. At this point it seems hard to say about how harmful it is--the American government hasn't restricted its use, but the European Union has. The city of San Francisco has put a ban on it as well for use in children's bath books. If you are concerned about it, that's fine--don't buy PVC bath books, but let's not jump to the conclusion that it's going to give your baby cancer. There's no evidence of that just yet. Note: this is going to be a moot point eventually; I called the Baby Einstein company (who transferred me to Hyperion Books) and they said they planned on phasing out the use of exterior PVC in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars simple poetry, our daughters favorite book, February 2, 2010
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mimi's Toes: A Splash and Giggle Bath Book (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Bath Book)
This is our daughter's favorite book. The art is very appealing to little eyes, I think, and the words rhyme with a catchy rhythm. I'd have her write the review as to why she loves it, but she'd not old enough yet. Let's just say we have the words memorized.

As to the alarmist posts about PVC, read the science for yourself:

[...]

If it sounds crazy (causes permanent organ damage!), it probably is. Based on my reading (and a graduate degree in science), I'm not worried about the safety of this toy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Baby Einstein book by far, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mimi's Toes: A Splash and Giggle Bath Book (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Bath Book)
I'm not sure why other have reviewed this so poorly. My 5 month old has 6 of the Baby Einstein books and this is her favorite by far, and the only one she gets excited about when I begin to read it. The illustrations are bright and happy and the rhythm is so great I enjoy reading it and she loves hearing the repeating line over and over again. It's fun to listen to and fun to read - I never get tired of it! I try reading others and the don't keep her attention. I go back to this one and she's all eyes and ears again.

The other Einstein books are just okay. They don't read as well and some are downright lame, using any words to get a rhyme. We REALLY DISLIKE "water water everywhere". I think this book may be more appropriate for girls though.

Regarding the PVC, I will not let her chew on it (which she likes to do too), but that's ok because she would prefer I read it to her.

5.0 out of 5 stars baby's favorite, June 30, 2005
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mimi's Toes: A Splash and Giggle Bath Book (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Bath Book)
we read this book to baby since she was 4 or 5 month-old. she still loves it at 10-month-old. For the last couple months the mere mention of "mimi's toes" catches her attention, make her smile..

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book! And throw it away if you already own it!, July 15, 2005
This review is from: Baby Einstein: Mimi's Toes: A Splash and Giggle Bath Book (Baby Einstein (Special Formats)) (Bath Book)
My 7-month old son loved (to eat!) this book, but I threw it away after reading a recent article in Parents magazine (July 2005). This book is made from PVC (vinyl), and according to the Parents magazine article, "vinyl contains chemicals that can put kids at risk of developing asthma, cancer, and organ damage." "The European Union, as well as Canada, Mexico, and Argentina have banned the use of PVC in children's teething and sucking products" -- and if your child is like mine, this book will become a sucking product. Although "[m]ost major baby companies in the U.S. have dicontinued using vinyl in their infant-oriented toys," Baby Einstein has not. I recommend emailing Baby Einstein (customerservice@babyeinstein.com) and encouraging them to stop using PVC in baby products.
