Doesn't flow well,

I expected more from this book since it's from Baby Einstein, but the language in the book doesn't flow well. I like the thick, puffy pages that I can use to help teach my 3-month-old how to turn the pages, but the story isn't well-written. I also thought it was funny that the back of the book tells parents to imitate the sounds of the animals that the tadpole meets in the pond, yet the animals in the book are minnows, salamander, beaver and heron. I wish I knew what sound a salamander makes so that I could imitate it for my baby!

Cute and educational,

What's great about this book is that it's actually educational. Unlike most bath books which hardly offer any story at all, the Baby Einstein books offer plenty of text with their standard style of illustrations.
Though the story in this book isn't written that well, it offers plenty of info in a simple fashion. Ex."A brown box turtle sleeps at the edge of the pond. The turtle's hard shell keeps its soft body safe." Not very poetic, but it still teaches even young children something. The book is about a tadpole who swims around a pond looking at all of the different animals that live there, too. Don't buy this for a cute, well written story, but buy it for the fact that it's an informative story which is rare on its own, and downright amazing for a bath book.

I bought this book based on the Baby Einstein name, and I wish I'd bought something else. The illustrations are cute, but it's not well-written. It doesn't flow like most kids' books. I then realized it was written by Julie Aigner Clark herself, who is a genius for making videos, but is not a spectacular writer. From now on, I will only buy books unseen from writers I already know and like.

My now 20 month old little boy lives for Agner's bath books. It's amazing how much his vocabulary has improved using these books during bath time. He loves to have them read to him, to point to objects when asked to located them, to look at the pictures as if he was reading the books himself, or to just play with them as a toy. These books are only as good as your creativity on how to share them with your child. Have fun and watch your child learn ... while bathing! I highly recommend all four of the Baby Einstein bath books.

My sons first bath book and still his favorite,

My husband and my 9 month old son take their baths each night together in our jacuzzi tub. My son has loved his baths from the very beginning and we were looking for something for him to do in the bathtub. He loves books and reading so we happened to find this one and excitedly purchased it.
My son would sit on his daddy's lap while they read this book over and over again in the bathtub.(which gave me time to soap him up and rinse him without him paying me any attention) He even reaches out of the tub to pull it in everytime he bathes. He just really loves looking at the colorful pages, can turn them with ease and listens intently to the story. Also, when he is teething, he bites on the sides of this book which hasn't affected the integrity of the book. We have been putting it in the tub now for about 9 months and it has withstood all that use too. My son enjoys this one so much that we also purchased "Water water everywhere" and "Mimi's Toes".....but I think this one is still the favorite.

My daughter loves this! I read it to her while in the bath tub. I give all the animals their own voices and add to the story a little which makes my 12 month old giggle. Our bath time is so much fun. Not only is she getting clean but she is also learning! This book has more of a story than most so you get your moneys worth!!!!

My daughter is a big fan of the DVDs (well most of them) right now at 16 months her favorite is Old McDonald.
This book is cute but not as fun as What Floats which rhymes. It is not as cute because it does not rhyme and flow like What Floats but it is good that it is a bath and pool book.

We bought this book along with the "Water, water, everywhere" 8mos ago, when our baby was 10mos.
She was always trying to stand up and get out of the bathtub. Now she sits in the tub "reading" her book. Then the problem was that she never wanted to get out of the tub, so now we keep the other book in the bench where we dry and dress her. I don't feel the edge is sharp, as other reviewer said, and I do like that the story is very simple. My baby like to point out everything she sees on the pages, and now she "reads" the story by herself (in her own mysterious language). With this books, bath time is now very fun for both of us.

I started reading to my daughter while she was bathing at six months and now she ABSOLUTELY LOVES books! I think that is a very healthy and wonderful thing!! I attribute this love of books to the four baby einstein books we have read at bathtime for the past year every single night (we also have water water everywhere, mimi's toes & what floats). My daughter never gets sick of the stories and now that she is 16 mos. she loves to point out the animals on the last page; I ask her where is the duck? Where is the turtle? And she points to it, etc. It has been a wonderful teaching tool for me, and I wholeheartedly recommend all four baby einstein books for bathtime. Mine don't have sharp edges. Especially when they are warm from the bathwater. They're exceptionally well made, too. Used every night for a year and still they look like new! Read to your kids at bathtime - they can't run away or lose intrest - you've got a captive audience! Take advantage of it!
