We purchased this product based on reviews of those who had already purchased the potty. We do not feel comfortable taking our son (28 months) to public restrooms for sanitary reasons. 3.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use but the hole is too small
I purchased this travel potty for my 27 months old son. It's very easy to use and good for traveling but the hole is too small. We only used it once.

We purchased this product based on reviews of those who had already purchased the potty. We do not feel comfortable taking our son (28 months) to public restrooms for sanitary reasons. We also knew we could not let him potty in his pullups considering he is still being potty trained. I must say, the potty itself is great. It had our son's interest before we took it out of the box. I think what made him not intimated in the potty are the colors and the two compartments. Within ten minutes of taking it out and cleaning it, he wanted to sit...and the first time was a success!! He has used it at least thirty times and is now at the point where he tries to take out the dirty bag and replace it with a clean bag. We definitely would not advise of this because of the potential mess (see cons). To sum it up, pros: portable, lighweight, adequate storage for underwear, baby wipes, and extra storage bags. We can fit about six-eight pullups, fifteen bags, and half a pack of baby wipes in both compartments with additional space left. For those that are wondering about the bags, we just buy the generic brand of gallon bags and they work just fine. Cons: the circumference of the potty seat is too small (for a boy). Our son is very, very tall for his age (over three feet tall), but he is petite. Although his legs are very long, he does just fine sitting on it, despite some of the reviews we read. There is a weak attempt at including a "shield" so that the boys can aim downward, but it is just that...an attempt. We have had to teach our son to hold his weewee down while he peepees. :-) Overall, we do and have already recommended this product to family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have, July 30, 2008
This review is from: Travel Potty Chair (Baby Product)
We absolutely love this potty chair. It made potty training on the go a breeze. It is so easy to use and compact. My 3 1/2 year old still uses it she can even unfold it herself and get the wipes out of one side with out my help. I f you are like me I have public bathroom phobia especially now that I have 14 month old who touches the toilet every time her sister is in there. I have been using it for over a year now and it is still as good as new. We leave it in the car and use it probably every time we go somewhere. I just buy the cheapest gallon size baggies so you can just zip up the smell if you know what I mean. The side compartments are great I keep the un-used baggies in one side and wipes in the other. This is the travel potty to get.

4.0 out of 5 stars Travel Potty Review, May 12, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A friend of mine suggested buying this potty for travel. I like the fact that it uses zip lock bags. It's easy to put together and folds up quickly. The only down side to this potty is that I have a boy and there is no pee shield on it. Probably better for girls than boys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent design; only travel potty to offer a handhold, May 10, 2007
By
There are several options on the market:
1. "Potette On-The-Go Potty" by Kalencom
On The Go Potty - Pink
On The Go Potty - Blue
2. the new Fisher Price's On-the-Go potty" and
Fisher-Price On-The-Go Potty
3. the "Spill Proof" Travel Potty (Google for a link)

However, I like this model better for several reasons:
1. Bags are just cheap, grocery store zipper bags
2. Seems comfortable (flat seat; good diameter)
2. It has containers on the sides to hold stuff (wipes, alcohol, t-paper, baggies)
3. The sides fold to become a handhold for the child. No other travel potty seat has this place to hold on, which is nice for a new potty-trainer.

The only negative is that the compartments and the seat where you snap the bag in can be difficult to unlock. It's just a plastic tooth that locks each part together.

I like that the Fisher Price model has an absorbent pad waste containment system, but that's just more $$ spent on what a paper towel (or extra toilet paper) could do.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for any family with small children!!, November 7, 2007
We have both this potty and a Potette travel potty. I like them both for different reasons, so I think it would be wise to think of your lifestyle and when you'd be using the travel potty and how often. For example, I like this one because of the built-in storage and no special bags to purchase. The size can be a big deciding factor in which potty you choose, and for our family I like this one for everyday use to keep in my jogging stroller. We go out everyday for walks and nature exploration so this one is nice to have fully stocked at all times and keep it just for that stroller. I can also see the benefits of having the handles for leverage, although my daughter never seemed to need handles either at home or on the go. I am sure that differs from child to child.

I like the Potette for vacation-type traveling because it is considerably smaller. We travel and do lots of sightseeing and put each of our girls in backpack style carriers, so the Potette is the only way to go as this Cool Gear potty would never fit inside the storage compartment of either backpack with room for other supplies (we have the Kelty Adventurer and a Snugli Cross-Terrain). We use the Potette now to keep in our car stroller (my jogger is too big to fit in our mid-size trunk) so I don't have to worry about whether or not I forgot the potty when we're running around doing errands, and especially since my daughter refuses to use a 'big' toilet even at home. It makes just jumping in the car and going a lot easier (well, as easy as it can be with two toddlers)!

Overall, I am glad we have both potties and they each serve a different function for us. Having a travel potty is a must, at least until your child uses a big toilet, and even then you never know where you'll be when the urge strikes for your toilet learner! I agree with the grandma who mentioned how nice it is that you don't have to cut outside time short just for a trip to a potty. I just pop open the travel potty and give my daughter privacy with our double stroller as a 'screen' and we're back in the game ready to slide and climb again. So, shop around and decide for yourself! Any active toddler needs a travel potty!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grateful Grandma, January 19, 2007
What a wonderful product. I often take my newly potty trained granddaughter to the play park and the bathrooms are usually locked. This travel potty has enabled us to stay and play! It works easily and uses a regular ziploc bag for refills. Wish this had been around when I was raising my children.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good buy!, May 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After extensive research, I finally decided to purchase this particular portable potty for my then 3.5 year old daughter because I hated the idea of her having to sit on public toilets because she had, and still has not mastered the action of squatting. Needless to say, I am happy with this potty, and so is she. It is light, handy, durable and neat! It comes with two side compartments already filled with zip lock bags. The other side compartment can be used to store tissues or wipes in.
The main downfall that I have with this product is that it is difficult to open the side compartments; you have to put muscle in it to pull it apart. Besides that I am happy with the purchase; highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for travel......., April 21, 2007
This product is lightweight, folds compactly to fit under auto seats. It's the right size for little ones who are potty training, and great for older trained children as well. Easy travel for car trips and vacations. The 2 side compartments are very roomy with enough space to hold the extra required zip lock bags (large) as well as toilet paper/wipes/sanitizers etc...You just lift the lid, zip up the bag, toss in the garbage and replace with a new clean bag. This is a must have for on the go families, or anyone who has a little one around who is in training or just has to go NOW! My suggestion is to have one for each car, and send one to the grands as well.

God bless!

With 2 potty training toddlers under my belt, this is the best travel potty product I have found. Collapses, is fairly easy to use (though don't use the zip close plastic bags, they don't fit) and contains everything very nicely. Love it!
