4.0 out of 5 stars Moving account of one womans search for the truth, January 27, 2003

This review is from: Baby Girl Jensen: A Memoir of My Reunion with My Birth Mother (Paperback)
The true account of one womans search for her birth parents is recalled in this moving story. It outlines all the steps to persue finding your birth parents especially with a closed adoption. Including the doors that had to be unlocked and avenues that were taken. It is a touching tale of how determination and persistance can be rewarded and yet bitter sweet. This book would be helpful with anyone who is trying to do the same with continuous new ideas on how to go about finding your birth parents. It gives one a new perspective and hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adoption: Investigation and Reflection, January 27, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Baby Girl Jensen: A Memoir of My Reunion with My Birth Mother (Paperback)
This book is an interesting story of a young woman's search for her birth parents, part handbook, part whodunit, part cliffhanger, but at all times comfortable and reassuring to all involved.

The author has a good relationship with her adoptive family, a great husband and three children of her own, but after 30 years, is still interested to know where she comes from, what her parents look like, even what nationality she is... she embarks very slowly on the long process to determine the truth.

There are missteps, dead ends and even the occasional minor success. There are fits and stops along the way. But through a combination of dogged perserverance and dumb luck, she is able to discover things about herself that she could not have known any other way.

This book is recommended for people interested in searching for a birth parent, it's recommended for potential adoptive parents, and it serves as a gentle reminder to the rest of us of the sometimes difficult circumstances surrounding adoption, and the positive effect it can have for all involved.

Plus it's an entertaining, exciting read! You won't be able to put it down.
